They already had a quiet beta by invites as well as preorder and i have to say it is in pretty good shape, so this might actually be a true early access period and not a beta for cash.

I believe it's buy to play for early access only. Once it's released fully it should be F2P.

It kind of is a single player game. One of my good friends I played archeage with was hoping this would be the successor as far as community housing. Alas, it was not to be. But boy oh boy is this game so much better in every other way.
