I thought the process was pretty straight forward..? I register an account to get the key (the german part). I register a game account and a forum account. I then use the key I recived to get beta access. Done, done and done.

In my experience, anytime people say "you might like it after that patch, or this fix" or whatever, it's usually NOT worth it. I'd say wait for a trial if you're curious.
