It's mostly conservatives who are getting offended and whining about this, not liberals.

I actually think think the origins of the holidays are a non issue.  Even if they find their roots pagan holidays, they are Christian holidays now.  Traditions change and evolve, mix and match, and have different meanings to different people.  That's why I think it's rediculous that people are worried about this.  If society is dictating the wrong traditions, then your problem is you're letting them dictate traditions to you at all.  In just about every country but especially America, there have always been a multitude of cultures and practices.  Somehow the vast majority managed to survive without the support of big chain stores or whoever else you're complaining about.  Until you start getting imprisoned, tortured, or killed for celebrating holidays how you want, you really don't have much to worry about.

It's a Christmas Tree (or X-mas tree if you really want) but that's it. No ifs, ands, or buts.

I personally will be wishing people a Merry Christmas. If someone gets pissed at you for wishing them merry christmas, then tell them to stfu. There are a couple reasons for this:

    1) It's a form of well-wishing. You are wishing them a good time and they get pissed, that's retarded.

    2) The USA and Canada were founded by Christians. We live in a Christian society. That's why Christmas is a NATIONAL holiday. If someone doesn't want to celebrate Christmas, then fine, they can WORK on Christmas. If you want a day off you have to put up with the holiday.

    3) People think that because Christmas is a religious holiday and you are wishing them a Merry Christmas, it has some sort of insidious religious message in it. That's also retarded and you should tell them to grow up.

Please don't take that literally...I think Christians have enough problems with people seeing them as hypocrites in many respects...and this would only further that.

I VERY rarely hear of people getting pissed off for being wished a Merry Christmas.  Maybe I'm just lucky in that regard, but the only people I hear whining and crying are conservative Christians who think that society should cater to no one but them, and get offended whenever a business or civic office uses more secular language.  Didn't this whole thing start because of some retailers started saying Happy Holidays or Season's Greetings instead of Merry Christmas?  Can someone please tell me where I'm wrong in this?

As far as I can tell, no one gives a **** about people saying "Merry Christmas"  It's the right that gets up in arms about people saying anything else.  They, not the left, are the aggresors in this war.

You're right, nobody gets up in arms about saying Merry Christmas...so why change it?

To be more inclusive, and appeal to more people.  That's a business decision, and it's theirs to make.
