honestly, i played GW for a week and then got sick of it seroiusly, WoW is a lot more fun, and now for the same price as the GW , you get 3 months of WoW for the same price of GW. WoW is the better deal, who will pay $50 for a week of boredom?????

I agree with the OP. The single player game is pretty interesting. However, in PvP, you will have good people and bad people. The bad people usually just quit the battle anyway.
I would say that in a days time, I have about 50/50 chance of getting a team with the maturity level of a box of crayons.

Here is an example of what Im talking about: you go to random arenas. I look at local chat and its like 100 of the most immature tourettes 12 year olds got hold of a means to vent all of their pent up vulgarities. Its like they've never seen their own swearing in print before and need to see it in print over and over again.
So I decide to join a fight and some random asswipe decides to start criticizing my playing. "You noob. (Insert random skill here) sucks. You suck asshole. You are worthless. Thanks for making me lose Fucker." So they quit in the middle of a fight that we are winning after 3 flawless victories.
This is not an isolated experience. I am shocked by how many times Ive seen this attitude, which seems indicative of some form of mental pathology ( I mean that in all seriousness).
Now even if I did totally suck (which I don't). There is no excuse for this. I mean in an mmo community you would think there are some helpful people that would understand that not everyone knows the game in and out. Not everyone is uber and some could use some friendly advice. I have yet to see any of the normal courtesies of civilized society in this community.
Ive played several mmo's that have had poor, immature communites, but this one hands down is the worst. Its too bad because the game really looks kind of nice. These children ruin the fun of what could be a good game. Oh well. Off to greener pastures. There are too many people in this game that I do not care to have any association with.
um most of time its not kids its imature adults. and the community has gotten better in the past few mounths

It doesn't matter if you put an age restriction on a game, I think you'll run into the same problems because there are people that behave this way in their 20s. Unfortunately there will always be people that ruin it for other people because of the offensive language they use.
I think this problem is true of all MMO's, esp when you deal with the "leet" pvp crowd.
As a person whose been told I suck (which, I probably do actually) I just use that opportunity to tell my attacker to f-off.... and any other frustrations I might have built up in me....
If you look around you'll find good people to group with (I did) who won't ruin your gaming experience.
BTW, I did play GW for a few months, and had no problems with the community...

I found that after playing for a couple of weeks, I'm really not interested in a purely "instanced" game. For me, it lacks the MMO feel that I got from many other games out there.
And I must agree with the beginning of this whole posting... there are an enormous number of immature kids that play GW and unless you can find a guild that has some folks over the age of 21, the good experiences are few and far between.
That being said, I've found that this is true with many of the mmo's out there today. It's hard to avoid the little kiddies when there are more of them out there playing than there are adults. Something we just have to put up with at times, and ignore.
Anyways, my experience with GW has not been a good one yet. I will continue to play and give it more of a shot, but as of yet, I'm not impressed with the game.

You are right it does lack the MMO feel. But that is why people need to stop expecting that. If you play neverwinter night 2 expecting it to feel like an MMO you will be dissatisfied no matter how good the game is.
I really think a good portion of people who have tried GW dislike because of what they want it to be not because of what it is.
GW is perfectly fine for what it is. It accomplishes all its goals qutie well. Being an MMORPG is not one of those goals. It is not a substitute for game with a shared persistent world. It is not a simluation game in anyway.
It is great for some quick and engaging and tactically rich action either solo or in a group. It is great for quickly getting a group or whatever. It is great for PvP match play.

+21? Come on... do you really think it would solve anything? There are so many immature people who are over 21 and so much intelligent and polite people who are less. But feel free to insult me as I am less than 21. I wouldn't know anything about it, right?

Yeah, the older players can be arrogant because they think they're smarter and more mature and then they they're at the same level as us younger ones and yes there are nice people who are under 21 years. Our entire guild is under 21 years and there are not any immature member there
Simply stating your guild is 18+ and talking to people before they join to ensure they can at least act in a mature manner does tons to save yourself annoyences.
It is a simple fact that on average younger people act less maturely then older people. If a 22yo person acts like he is 15 you would have a hard time getting into a "mature" 21+ guild. I'm sure there are other guilds out there that are 18+ just so they can talk dirty to each other. And don't try to say age doesn't matter. Look at animals. A 2yo dog acts alot less maturely than a 8yo dog. So though trainer and enviroment may play a huge role, age does play a role.
By that same token if a 15yo can act maturely he'd be able to get in easier then that 22yo.
That how it is with my guild anyway. We state we are a "mature 18+ guild" but that exception can be made for exceptional people and I'd guess about 25-40% of the guild is under 18yo. The charter deals with what isn't allowed. If the leader tells you to do something in a mission and you do the opposite and then start calling everyone newbs you're going to be out before you probation is anywhere near up, or you going to write an applogy to the guild. Comes down to act mature or leave. How many 13yo or otherwise immature people are willing to applogize? It is more like your guild sucks and they leave.
We have fun... and people do make IMO silly or immature jokes (though I haven't seen any chuck norris ones - thankfully) but people are overly respectful or each other time.
And for the record if you are an immature person... you likely don't know it. You probably think it is "funny" or someone elses fault for any problems that arise because of it. If you like to PvP in you underware your likely "immature" in the eyes of the people that actually want to win the match; if not factually immature.

Guild Wars is my very first experiance with mmorpgs. I really am addicted too. It does seem like there are a lot of immiture kids playing it though. I hate to see that it turns some of you off of it completely. Personally my worst pet peevs are a) Lvl 20s who think that they're better than everyone else and look down on newer players calling them "newbs" and "newbies" like it's so terrible that you arn't compleyely experianced in the game. b) People who leave your party in the middle of a quest or mission. I believe that if you agree to do a quest or mission with a party, you need to finish what you started. It is completely rude to screw someone else over just because you get aggrivated or some other stupid reason. c) People who get pissed off because you DON'T skip a cut scene. That is so annoying, just because they've seen it before or don't follow the story, they expect everyone else to skip it too... There are lots of others but those are pretty much my main 3. lol.
I personally go out of my way to help new players giving them free weapons, runes, gold, etc. Plus helping them on missions and helping buy them armor. I'm always more than happy to help as long as it's appreciated.
Also, all the cool, mature people that I find and talk to, I add to my friends list. It's well worth adding the people you enjoy playing with. My friends list is pretty damn long, but it's good because when I do run into idiot buttholes who act like children and can't seem to get a good group together, I always have friends online and all I have to do is pm them and meet up with them somewhere and we're good to go.
Anyways, I'm rambling... I really enjoy Guild Wars and hope that you guys can find a way around these idiots and have fun also. *cheers

i think a game with 2.5 million copys sold , no monthly fee , unfortunatly cant have all mature and friendly people , so the propability of grouping with anoying people as to be high unfortunatly.
i believe a game like eve as to have a better comunity not just becose it as a monthly fee but also becose the kind of people that like that kind of game. guildwars is a game for the masses i would say like wow. easy to start playing , but not that easy to be experienced in , endless farming will not make one powerfull. experience ingame combining skills , professions and team builds is what makes one powerfull.
some people like to exploit the game as much as possible , so they also exploit the pugs they play with , doing only what they need and not caring at all for others. like quiting after caping a elite skill and not helping group to finish mission etc. i call them the uber elite morons.
im with you on giving free stuff to new players , helping on missions and quests and watching the cinematics i have seen millions of times and i like to watch it everytime.
I just need to mention to all, b4 they start to play RA: 1st read few articles about it. You will find links to another two articles in Cross-Training.
Those guys who write articles are also part of GW community
With Gladiator titles, Random Arena became different: many players come here to win gladiator points. People are leaving because they don't have monk in their team. That is silly, because I had few moments in TA when me and my very experianced arena friends lost against RA teams. And they didn't have monk... A lot of dmg and selfheal, our bad decision = gg for them... Last night I was testing some pressure ranger in RA. I had an ele who tested some ganking build, monk and rt. When we were near winning glad point, monk flamed because ganker ele was overextaned all the time. And the only comment ele gave was: I'm just testing some build. We won. But that monk and rt were there to gain a point, and two of us were there to test builds...

im with you on giving free stuff to new players , helping on missions and quests and watching the cinematics i have seen millions of times and i like to watch it everytime.

PvP PrimerRandom Arena Summary
