And now for the SOE "Kludge Of the Quarter" to try to shoehorn pre-NGE features into the NGE crapfest to fool a few more customers into thinking it's 'enough like the old game' to milk a few more dimes from them.
There are hitmen for the Cali drug cartel that would blush at working for an organization with SOE's ethics.

I have pretty dead set on never buying a PS3. And after seeing the PS3 commercail with that baby, I am now scared of the PS3!
Oh man, I just read the Official Forums thread on this ..... I just threw up a little in the back of my throat.
They think this will bring a lot of ex-players back? The ones with severely damaged short-term memory, maybe.
Earth to Helios: you screwed over your CH-style customers multiple times. With the "prebalance" of CH damage, with the CU, with the massive re-grind to get Specials instead of fixing the ones they carefully chose pets for in the ORIGINAL grind of XP, and finally with the NGE.
Why on Earth would they trust you now? Come back and spend money to grind a new system for you to yank out from under them in six months? You want our money again, then give us back what we paid for and you took away, it's not rocket science.
Well, by "us" I mean former CH's who would actually give you and Smed money again under some conceiveable circumstance ... I'm not one of 'em, you'll never get a check from me to ratify your unconscionable bait-and-switch style of game design.
SOE themselves are just saying this "may" happen and even if it does its a long way off. Considering the fact that things they promise take years to accomplish if they are ever done at all I think this should be considered as nothing more than yet another brazen stunt to make people hang around.
If SOE is good at anything it is dangling carrots, taking the carrot away and then acting like they don't know what you are talking about when you ask them where the carrot went. I feel really sorry for anyone sucked in by these tired old stunts again. Its absolutely shameful.
I wish I knew where the hell ESRB and Lucasarts are involved on this, I don't even know why a law suit hasn't been filed against them officially for all this crap that has been force fed to all the players in the game. Looking at the kind of stuff that has been done, and the law, i'd say that SOE are on the verge of illegal with this game because of how radically they've changed it, just because it's an MMORPG there's no excuse The only conclusion I can draw here is that ESRB and Lucasarts have been censored to all of this, or they've just gone completely speechless and they won't do anything about it.... God I hope the rumours about a Bioware takeover is true, I really do...

hi this is my first post here i am an ex swg player ... i stopped playing it the sunday b4 the nge hit live
i start with a few 2 quotes from "An Open letter to the SWG community" by smed 11-25-2005 09:08 AM
1. From our perspective, we're focused on the following:
1) Fixing actual bugs 2) Adding new skills to differentiate the professions much better, and particularly the advancement path (i.e. making cool new skills the higher you rise through a particular profession). 3) Working on making crafting a much more important part of the NGE. 4) Cool new content - particularly focusing on the Galactic Civil War
2. (one of my favorite) we have a lot of ideas (wouldn't it be cool for a guild to have a Star Destroyer?)
i leave it up to everyone self to decide how succesfull and competent those things were performed
i write this post because i have read that something like creature handler "could" come back into the game
just to refresh the memory creature handler befor the nge
- the max combined level of pets was cl 70 as a master creature handler
- damage (causing and reciving) was based on the cl of the combatants in other words the lower cl caused less damage and recived more damage by default cl 80 was neither difficult to become nor did it take very long for a player that meant for creature handlers even the biggest pet they could have was weak by default just to compare it to other professions : it would have been the same if combat professions were limited to weapons 10 level under their cl
- the creature handler profession had no weapon skills or specials the pet were the weapons
- pets could not be called during combat ... something like a rifleman not beeing able to draw his rifle because he has to fight
- calling pets took 15 seconds
- pets could not be stored right after the combat ( dont know anymore how long the timer was )
- pets had a low speed .... they got lost behind with normal running speed of a player
- taming pets became ...lets say difficult .... from about cl60 pets that means as a master creature handler with every possible bonus for taming on the clothes and buffed with food it could happen that taming failed until the creature lair despawned ( and that used to be a long time )
- pets could not be used in some areas ... for example : no pet calling on the corvette ( i understand that it would have been the wrong place for big creatures like rancors ... but not even snakes could be called ) the house where the clone armor quest ends ... no pets possible there (the just were falling through the ground)
- a few bugs .. anyone remembers "this creature is not tameable" ?
- rare pets : what does rare mean ? when i was huntig for a bull rancor baby , i found a lot of cl 200-300 creatures (yes during the cu) and more wild spawned combat medic trainers then those babys .. in fact i found a goup of 2 cm and 1 scout trainers --- i was able to find 2 bull rancor babys ( one of them doesnt count because it was untameable ..... )
lets jump over to the new added pet skill system :
there were 25 different skills and for each skill 3 different levels ---> 75 skills to learn for the creature handler
- some skills were never put in the game
- some skills were simply buged ( for example there was 1 skill to increase the attack speed ... it in fact increased the speed making it slower as a result --- somehow the devs were not able to correct a simple twisted + and - in a know part of the code ... )
- skills were recived by finding it on a tamed baby ... after informing myself on different forums and talking to other creature handlers my chances to find a baby with a skill was about 10 to 1 ---> that meant in the best case to tame 750 creatures ( remember the part about taming cl60+ pets ? ) with room for 20 in the data pat ....
lets make it easy and just take the average and middle :
75 ( all possible skills) * 113575 ( cl35 .. just the middle) * 2,5 ( that often i had to level the pet) = 2295312,5
the exp gained for a cl 80 creature was about 6000 ----> killing 3449,something creatures
so after becomming master creature handler and after taming about 750 pets i had to make 2295312,5 exp points just to know pet specials ( how many exp points and how many bountys had a master bounty hunter to hunt before he learned his special attacks ? )
- teaching skills to a pet (short form) : each time a pet leveld up it recived skillpoints those points could be used to teach skills to it
for example a cl70 pet had to be leveled about 12 times to get all possible useable skillpoints
lets do some more math : 20 possible pets in the data pad .. lets say 5 cl10 + 5 cl30 + 5 cl 50 + 5 cl70 and make it a little bit easier ( dont know anymore but i think cl10 only had to be leveld 5 times or something) we assume we only need to level each pet hmmm .. 6 ?? times
so to actually use the allready known pet specials a creature handler had to make another 21864000 exp points ( kill 3644 more creatures )
so after becoming master creature handler and after taming about 750 creatures and after additionally killing more then 7000 cl80 enemys a creature handler could finally use his "special attacks" .... ( still with a max pet level 70 )
when i look back i have the impression that it was intended to make the profession as unatractive as possible
and i liked it ...
why ?
i loved to travell the worlds and discover the places where different species and sup species spawned
when i used to log in for an hour after work and had my master creature handler tag on i often was bombarded with tells from unknown people asking 1000 things about creatures and my profession
i enjoyed showing the baby spawns to new creature handlers
i liked riding my cl67 bantha
it was my favorite way to interact in and with the rest of the gameworld
since the nge there is no world anymore just gamezones and gamemaps
to let the creature handlers come back there needs to be a world at first
a red name said once creature handler was removed because "pokemons dont belong to star wars" .. the egg thing sounds a lot like pokemon for me
my final words are 2 quotes
"Implementation or scheduling is neither guaranteed nor implied. This is simply a "Request For Comments "
"we have a lot of ideas (wouldn't it be cool for a guild to have a Star Destroyer?)"

This guys "concept" reminds me of a game I used to play, except this isnt quite as cool. In this game I used to play you could tame baby animals and teach them "tricks". As a baby they werent very strong but over time they became bigger and more powerfull and could even be used to attack other players! This game even had a proffesion much like these "Genetic Engineers" who could take samples from animals and create biologicaly engineered animals that had special attributes! Man that game was fun, what in the hell was it called...
Wow Helios is smart, all he did was spoon feed those idiots some bullshit and look at the reaction! Hell if I was SOE I'd do the same, they shovel money my way even when I told them its not implied!
[[ DEAD ]] - Funny - I deleted my account on the site using the cancel account button. Forum user is separate and still exists with no way of deleting it. Delete it admins. Do it, this ends now.
I feel bad for the existing players. If and a big 'IF' this does happen... then it'll take at least a year before it does. Honestly I think they are just trying to keep what little player base they have for SWG 2.
Originally posted by njdevi66 I agree, to little to late. All i have to do is remember the TOOW expansion and the promises of the item in it and 2 weeks later that item and my profession were taken out.
Well that about sums up how I feel about this move by SOE. I have a few parallel thoughts about the possible re-introduction of pets.
1) Maybe it will be nice for the few friends that still play to get pets back,
2) But will they lose the pets they have in their datapads?
3) Will SOE follow through on this idea, or are they just getting people's hopes up?
4) Creature handlers just got a brand new, greatly sought after system, immediately before the profession was deleted with the NGE. If SOE goes ahead with beast mastery, will they yank it away from people just like they did the last pet system?
5) How can I invest any hope and excitement into something that could get radically changed, or completely removed at anytime by a company that won't give a rats backside about how that makes me feel as a player?
Ya I'm thinking that number 5 is the big one for me. Wow I loved getting master musician and buffing people in camps! Mind bar is gone, those buffs are gone, camps are gone.
Wow I loved getting TKM and all the cool attacks and animations. Profession is gone, combat animations I loved are gone, meditate for me is gone.
Wow I loved getting all the way through the steps to unlock my first jedi. I was on the very last step of sooo many missions and quest and.....it's all gone?
Wow I loved having just enough skill points for a triple master profession (TKM, Master Brawler, Master Doc)....skill points now gone, TKM gone (still) Master Brawler gone, Master Doc converted to Master Medic.
Yup there's more...Wow look at these cool items I just looted in the new expansion I just paid for....item disabled.
Wow pets are coming back...wait a minute...what happened the last time I said "wow" about something in SWG...it was deleted or disabled by SOE, even if it was something they just introduced, or I just paid for.
Hmmm, what do I think about SOE introducing pets again? Look at the history, what should I think?
I don't quite understand this. Why did the devs even bring this topic up?
To stir up the waters? I'd believe that if the suckboard mods weren't in the habit of locking/deleting posts they don't like (go to the start of the suckboards, you'll see what I mean).
Anyhow, didn't SoE learn from the NGE? It was a mistake to shaft existing players in the hope of attracting greater numbers of new subs. Now they repeat this mistake by ignoring the pleas of existing players to fix their classes (Entertainer and Crafter in particular), but floating the idea of new (resurrected) classes?
Give me a break. At least they make he MMORPG forums interesting...

Also the pets have no value and more or less this is ANOTHER BASTARDIZED VERSION OF WHAT WAS BETTER. With all this effort and time, they need to just let it go now. For months they tell you things then they realize they need to apply damage control, what does this do? Other then years out-- end up as all bantha fodder. This this moronic statement by a customer: "Great News how long have yall been working with this idea? " Which now explains the level of gamer that they have. This person thinks this is a new idea.....he really does. See this is your expansion.... here it is, a bastardized version of: XXXXXXXXX enjoy --- Helios is more or less a complete tool and almost the worst developer I have ever seen in the software industry actually. 1 year later and this is a topic. Outstanding Helios... you win all the interwebs.... What a smuck.... (See they need somthing new to hold people longer) --- Jedi did it for the NGE, now it's going to be CH ---lol how original. LOL HELLO MY NAME IS HELIOS HERE IS A CARROT-- IRONIC IT IS AT ALMOST THE EXACT ONE YEAR MARK OF THEM SCREWING PEOPLE OVER... Yep all about the timing... Next it will be --- "stay tuned we may have a server option for you". -- And the lemmings will get right in line to jump of the cliff with him.
you know i was thinking we could submit him for the darwin award... Darwin Awards

If you look on the suckboards, the post pertaining to CH ... er Beast Mastery is blowing ALL the other posts away as far as replies go. (only 1200 replies)
Didn't $OE and LA say that CH was the LEAST played profession?
You cant really blame the people still playing about being excited regarding the 3 post from helios.

I blame them if they expect Smed's crew to give them any player experience related to CH different than this:
Because you have to be as slow a learner as Charlie Brown to expect anything else by now.

That, more than anything, is why I will never play any game that SOE is involved with. They are just not trustworthy enough for me to invest my time into one of their game. They have a track record of completely invalidating players acheivments and work on their characters. If your in game acheivements are safe, there is no reason to play a MMO.
Some of the ideas they have for CH arent bad, but they totally ruined it by saying the eggs would be loot drops and not tameable. That makes no sense to me at all. The ban on large animals sucks, but I can at least understand that one because of the lag.

At least they make he MMORPG forums interesting...
you know i was thinking we could submit him for the darwin award...

No Rancors?!!!!!
damn thats stupidissimo. Some irate poster on the OF blurting on about the guy at jabbas wasnt a real CH since it was in chains.
Yeah right! whatever smedboy
Also, this is not the first attempt on makind this, smed told us something about star destroyrs (to have a guild to own one).
This is just for keeping the hope upp for the players that are still there.
Starwars Galaxies, An Empier Diveded, That's what it says on my box anyway.
If you look on the suckboards, the post pertaining to CH ... er Beast Mastery is blowing ALL the other posts away as far as replies go. (only 1200 replies)
Didn't $OE and LA say that CH was the LEAST played profession?
So why is it the MOST popular subject?
You cant really blame the people still playing about being excited regarding the 3 post from helios.
I mean after all .... they have no content now. It will give them something to do. In fact if you read the post on (/swallows hard) .... "gardening" the people posting say those exact words. LOL
I blame them if they expect Smed's crew to give them any player experience related to CH different than this:
Because you have to be as slow a learner as Charlie Brown to expect anything else by now.
