Well considering there are Millions of people [including me] who rely on organ transplants to live a life im all for cloning in the sence of they take a stem cell from me and grow what i need. And therefore no organ rejection and there i am im cured froma previously incurable illness.
As for cloning a full human...Iwont even dare go there.

Unfortunately, so do all rules and regulations, protocols, politicians, etc., they're everywhere in the world. Sometimes I wonder what is it that they see that they'd rather not have a cure for a disease that kills 10 000 people a day?

Originally posted by Xexima I think we should experiment with genetics and cloning, there is very little that we actually know about it. About human cloning though? I dunno. I do think the idea of cloning a human would be kinda cool, except that leads to moral and political issues (ie starwars). Cloning body parts would be a very good Idea though, and could help thousands upon thousands of people suffering from kidney disease or heart disease and so on.
Yes, cloning body parts would greatly reduce the amount of people that believes cloning is bad, but sadly, it is much easier to clone an entire human body than to clone a single organ.
The reason to that would be the human body has all these variables in it, the hormones, cells, blah. If scientists were to simply set the parameters of the stem cells, the body would just work itself out, and develop until a body exists. But if you want to clone only an organ, you have to set all these other variables by yourself that would otherwise have already been completed by the developing body itself.
So cloning only an organ for transplantation is very slim compared to fully cloning a live human .

In fact it mite be wise to simply surpress the genetics of the congintive brain during the embyonic growth phase. Youd end up with husks. Fully functioning human bodies with no mind. You could harvest the bodies all you want and there would be little moral reason not to since the creature born isnt a human sentient. Personally I wouldnt mind having a full set of organs laying around for harvest. Imagine it this way, you pay a company to clone yourself or a compatible clone. THen you pay rent to keep it alive and stored. At any point if you needed a transplant youd have the parts. Also you could grow immunization formula's for yourself. If your cloning non sentient embyos you could even fail a dozen times and toss the bad ones without fear of harming potential humans.
As for religion slowing down progress, while its true it serves a very important guiding role. Science without moral or ethical guidance is even if flawed can lead to some very ugly outcomes. Even more ugly then letting someone die of a nervous system disease. One of the main reasons im for cloning research within moral boundaries is... ill prolly die without it. I have a Nueral Disorder which leads to anuerisms. Ill prolly die by the age of 50. With the right regeneritive therapys i could repair the damage being done to me as I sit here and type.

If you can clone an organ, okay but a person I'd be adamantly against. Cloning people is a bad idea. Imagine a bunch of Clintons and Bush's running around. Not to mention the danger of a dictator or psycho getting hold of the technology and having time to make a whole twisted army along his ideas (Secret brainwashing). Also, it would be hard to treat a cloned human as a clone. A clone would have emotions, feelings and probably a similar mindset to whoever it was cloned from.
The only positive thing from human cloning is that there will be an answer to the whole nature vs. nurture debate. Take 3 clones, put them with 3 familes and see how they turn out in life. Not worth it in mu opinion.
