I don't really know why anyone would want to buy a PS3 anymore besides the fact it's so expensive, they're losing all their exclusive games like GTA 4 and Assassins Creed.
Also, there is no way to judge which console will win until next Christmas when you walk into a store and ask for a PS3, or Wii and the store clerk dosen't laugh in your face.

I am however impressed with the marketing campaign of Wii. The TV commercials are great. I see them often whilst PS3 adverts are nowhere to be seen. The whole drama around the limited PS3 release and the highlighted criminal acts following it along with the Ebay markups has damaged the PS3's image IMO.
I am intrigued by the Wii controllers. For those of you who have used them, are they novelties that get old or are they really more immersive and do you think they have longterm appeal?

The Wii will always sell well just because the games are made to be fun party games. The remote control is going to be fun with the games, and the fact that you can get nes and snes games on it is particularly intriguing. I mean just trying to get your hands on an original chrono trigger or super mario 2 cartridge is quite expensive.
I honestly think everyone that has a Wii will probably wind up getting a PS3 as well just because the Wii doesn't satisfy when it comes to graphics and console-specific games.
We'll see how sales of the PS3 do in a year when MGS 4, GT5, and FF13 are released.

I am not a fan either way on these consoles...I had the original Nintendo/N64/Gameboy as a kid, had a playstation 2 at the last apartment and my sister has it now, and I still have the old X-Box. So as you see I have played some of each. I am of the thought process that it is to early to tell, but just looking at the numbers is pretty interesting. (These numbers are going just off numbers being shown off the consolewars.com sigs)
X-Box 360 = 8,060,011 sold
PS3 = 386,779 sold
Wii = 1,204,304 sold

Wii will also be taking a chunk out of PS3 sells as parents don't want to spend that type of money on their 6-15 year olds choose to pick up the Wii as gifts. Some people that might have chosen the PS3, had it been available, will "settle" for the 360 or the Wii, taking those people off the market.
So as I mentioned, it is too early to tell, but it is going to be a while until the companies are close to equal footing in regards to the amount of homes their consoles are in.

Hmmm i dont think you understand how fast consoles grow...
You first have to understand that the PS3 and Wii are selling out of every unit they have available... Note Thats 1.2 million for the Wii in 2 weeks... and 400k for the PS3 in 2 weeks...
Also note Xbox360 sales are worse than the Original Xbox's Sales... And they have 8 milion in 12 months... Thats about 600k per month (average)for the 360... RIGHT NOW 6-7 years after the PS2's launch.. They are selling 350k units per month..
I suspect the Wii will pass the 360 by christmas next year... and The PS3 will have somewhere around 8 milllion... While the Xbox will have 10-12 milliion units.. by the same time.. your 21 month outlook to match the 8 million is very very conservative... so much so that its almost silly..

Personally I find the PS3 a confusing concept. Just like the marketing. We've all seen the video's and news messages of people getting shot, robbed and whatnot because of it. Way to get your system published, Sony.
To me, the PS3 isn't even in the console wars. It sounds more like a failed struggle of Sony to stay on track with the rest.

I have to agree here. I don't think Blu-Ray will win the DVD format war over HD-DVD. Also I've never played any Final Fantasy games, Metal Gear Solid, or Socom Navy Seals. I don't want to browse the internet or watch movies on my PS3, or view pictures. I just want to play games.
So from what I said the PS3 is full of stuff I don't want. The comparison in graphics from the 360 and the PS3 are too close for me to care. The ONLY thing I like about the PS3 is it's built in Wi-Fi.

I don't really know why anyone would want to buy a PS3 anymore besides the fact it's so expensive, they're losing all their exclusive games like GTA 4 and Assassins Creed.
Also, there is no way to judge which console will win until next Christmas when you walk into a store and ask for a PS3, or Wii and the store clerk dosen't laugh in your face.

that 600 dollar pricetag and blue ray bullshit is going to be the downfall of the ps3...pluss it's hard as hell to program for, developers will stop making so many games for it after they get their first batch out.

I am not a consule gamer and doubt I ever will be because PC is superior quality and more cost efficient in the long run for upgrading purposes and the ability to multitask.
I am however impressed with the marketing campaign of Wii. The TV commercials are great. I see them often whilst PS3 adverts are nowhere to be seen. The whole drama around the limited PS3 release and the highlighted criminal acts following it along with the Ebay markups has damaged the PS3's image IMO.
I am intrigued by the Wii controllers. For those of you who have used them, are they novelties that get old or are they really more immersive and do you think they have longterm appeal?

Also you forget that some of Nintendos trademark games are some of the very finest games ever released. Just check the top 10 on gamerankings.
I personally think that within a year, the xbox 360 isn't even going to be comparatively "next-gen." The PS3 has so much more potential.
The Wii will always sell well just because the games are made to be fun party games. The remote control is going to be fun with the games, and the fact that you can get nes and snes games on it is particularly intriguing. I mean just trying to get your hands on an original chrono trigger or super mario 2 cartridge is quite expensive.
I honestly think everyone that has a Wii will probably wind up getting a PS3 as well just because the Wii doesn't satisfy when it comes to graphics and console-specific games.
We'll see how sales of the PS3 do in a year when MGS 4, GT5, and FF13 are released.

Well I love my 360, and I am biased for the 360, but I also have a PS3 and I have to admit that it doesnt just have more power then the 360, it has a hell of a lot more power then the 360, I cant get over how powerful this machine is. I have to admit that when game developers start taking advantage of this machine and its power, its going to kick the crap out of my 360. Bring it on down now.

I am not a fan either way on these consoles...I had the original Nintendo/N64/Gameboy as a kid, had a playstation 2 at the last apartment and my sister has it now, and I still have the old X-Box. So as you see I have played some of each. I am of the thought process that it is to early to tell, but just looking at the numbers is pretty interesting. (These numbers are going just off numbers being shown off the consolewars.com sigs)
X-Box 360 = 8,060,011 sold
PS3 = 386,779 sold
Wii = 1,204,304 sold
Currently X-Box has sold 21x more consoles than PS3 and if you include the Wii 24x more "next gen" consoles are currently on the market.
There are a couple ways to look at that. Right now PS3 would have to have 21 more releases that brought sales exactly like the first one in order to catch up. So if Sony releases 386,779 systems PER MONTH for the next 21 months and X-Box360 doesn't sell another one then it will catch it. We all know that MS is not going to stop making X-Box 360s and people will continue to buy them. Also PS3 will not sell the same amount during future releases (either because of not making enough or the law of dimishing return) and they will not be able to release that much every month, so you are going to be looking at well over 2-3 years before PS3 even has a chance to catch the 360.
Wii will also be taking a chunk out of PS3 sells as parents don't want to spend that type of money on their 6-15 year olds choose to pick up the Wii as gifts. Some people that might have chosen the PS3, had it been available, will "settle" for the 360 or the Wii, taking those people off the market.
So as I mentioned, it is too early to tell, but it is going to be a while until the companies are close to equal footing in regards to the amount of homes their consoles are in.

Hmmm i dont think you understand how fast consoles grow...
You first have to understand that the PS3 and Wii are selling out of every unit they have available... Note Thats 1.2 million for the Wii in 2 weeks... and 400k for the PS3 in 2 weeks...
Also note Xbox360 sales are worse than the Original Xbox's Sales... And they have 8 milion in 12 months... Thats about 600k per month (average)for the 360... RIGHT NOW 6-7 years after the PS2's launch.. They are selling 350k units per month..
I suspect the Wii will pass the 360 by christmas next year... and The PS3 will have somewhere around 8 milllion... While the Xbox will have 10-12 milliion units.. by the same time.. your 21 month outlook to match the 8 million is very very conservative... so much so that its almost silly..

Personally I find the PS3 a confusing concept. Just like the marketing. We've all seen the video's and news messages of people getting shot, robbed and whatnot because of it. Way to get your system published, Sony.
To me, the PS3 isn't even in the console wars. It sounds more like a failed struggle of Sony to stay on track with the rest.
But hey, maybe the media is feeding me the wrong images. Maybe the PS3 is great!

QFT. I own a 360 and a Wii, and ever since I got my Wii I havnt played my 360 at all. I only own 3 games, Zelda, Wii Sports and DBZ, they all kick massive ass. While I enjoy my 360, its just not as fun to play as the Wii. Just like Joe, its just my opinion, dosent make it true.

I bash Sony because I gave them $500 for two PS2's years ago, and they both died on me within 8 months. THATS why I hate Sony, its a personal reason but its a reason none the less. Add that ontop of them releasing overpriced, below average products (this is a fact, WEGA = lolz compared to the competition).
I can make a post saying the Wii is great, and it will get bombared by "PS3 fanbois" and the typical "it haz shitte grafix thow" comments, which are usually responded with "the Wii is about gameplay not graphics".
