E & B future

Think there is any chance that the server software for E&B will be publicly available so I don't just have a $40 coaster? :)

I did only play E&B for the free month included with purchase, but that was because of financial problems shortly after purchasing it. I still think it is a solid game.. The interface and inner workings of the game were very well coded. It was just a bit on the bleak and boring side. However, I'd love to see the server software released(or someone to get a server emulator ironed out) so I can a)play  for free with others and b)load it up on my machine and explore at will and tinker :)

I would have to say no on that. That code belongs EA, granted they aren't going to run the game anymore but that doesn't mean they want to help someone else make money on there hard work.

There is a bizarre chance they might decide to build upon that code for another project. Maybe for a fare price they might sell it. Most likely nothing will happen with that code, but does belong EA it's there to do with as they please.

Make no mistake, MMORPG's are not games, they are hobbies. If you have a job, you'll need to give up watching TV in order to play one. You'll be better off for it.

Achievers realise that killers as a concept are necessary in order to make achievement meaningful and worthwhile (there being no way to "lose" the game if any fool can "win" just by plodding slowly unchallenged). -bartle

EA would never aquiesce to such a request, unless a large sum of money was involved. They'd much rather shelve the whole thing than let players get free gaming time. After all, an occupied gamer is one who isn't spending money on more games...

Doubtful.  This is the third MMOG EA has canned in the last 2 years (Motor City Online and Majestic being the other two) and neither of the others have been allowed to live on in the public domain.

However, both EVE Online and Jumpgate are offering special deals for E&B players right now.  Head to the News Room to find items outlining each offer.
