    I have 2 accounts:

One account is my industrial character: She'll be pure industry: Hauling, trading, transporting, mining, and refining. I am against having alts because i think it'd be cheap to have one alt on an account geared for mining, another for research, and etc. I feel like i'm cloning myself. My industrial character has many trading skills at level V, so when I get more money, i'll be putting buy/sell orders up all over the bloody place. I hope to make tons of money in the long run, it's like trading can be a passive money maker while hauling/mining/refining = active money making and of course i need to fund my PvP character.

So i'm roleplaying a little bit. I have one industrial only pilot

my other account is purely for PvP. Amarr guy with friggin lasers :). I'm about 17-21 days away from t2 medium lasers + a battlecruiser. I'm in a cruiser using t2 small and it does okay. I'm leveling up a lot of support skills.

I made 2 accounts because the game is so large, I needed 2 accounts to explore some facets of the game. So one Industrial, one PvP, if I make a third account (very unlikely), it would be for research and production only.

But 2 accounts for me. My thing against multiple accounts is that if i'm going to pay $15 bucks for an extra account, then that account should make me more isk per month than just ebaying the $15. Of course, if you have a full decked mining accuont, I think you can make a lot more.

But then again, i'm playing for fun, when you have too many accounts is when the roleplaying decreases a bit.

Any chance for someone with one account to get anywhere? Ever?

Yes, but unless you're in a corp it is slow going, exactly as it should be.

I did the solo thing for about 1 1/2 years and my opinion during that time was the same.

Ive got 2 accounts, a nearly pure PVP character... who was orignally going to be my Hauler alt.... so he also has a great refine and  Minni industrail level 5 (he turned from the hauler alt path before freighters came into the game so he doesn't fly those, but he's only 2 level 1 skills away) This guy is now what i refer to as "my main" Now he has 7 mill SP in gunnery, 5 mill in spaceship command and is about 4 months from "fully functional" (capital weapons (torps and proj guns), siege module, capital shield booster, ect...) naglfar.

my "alt"  has 5 mill SP more than my PVPer... and is a "jane of all trades"... 5 mill SP between industry and science. She's perfectly competent to plow through level 4 missions as good as anyone else.  She has about 6 mill SP spent in engineering  and mechanic (tanking skills) and she's got T2 guns ect... currently about 3 months from being a carrier pilot.

I do think that any number you get from this poll will be somewhat higher than the real number... This forum probably attracts more "hardcore" players.  The simple "casual" player isn't as likely to post on an outside forum.

The advantage of having multiple accounts is that if you wish to do something solo you can act like having multiple people. With out having to worry about somebody else in your corp helping you.

It all depends on your goals and playstyle and if you have friends ingame.  My nephue just started playing EVE this weekend so I helped him roll a Cald Fighter and gave him every cald ship up to a ferox (battle cruser) as well as 5 run BPCs of all the ships to replace the ones he's going to loose and all the T1 equipment BPCs needed to outfit the ships as well as 200 mil isk for the skill books (I had him train 0 all of the skills and point the rest he would need to take to lvl3 to train 0 the rest).

So for him one account will easly last him a year.  But if you dont have a benefactor it would take a year to work your way solo to the same point he is at  4 days into the game.

You can do well with only 1 account if you find a good corp. We had 2 new ppl join our corp last week so I gave them each a sigil and best and the book as well as exp 1s so they can haul, while others in the corp outfitted them with fighters and weps. So they were able to come along on our sat mining opp (they got an equal share of 18mil isk in mins) Sat and the corp mission run Sun (we use WOW stiyle looting so passed on most giving it to then new guys)  netted them about 8mil isk in bountys.  Not bad for a 2 and 3 week old player.

Find a good corp that supports your playstyle and you can have fun and get far in EVE even on 1 account.
