Why do you do all this, capt? Ever since beta you do nothing more than bash this game. What happened, a virtual date with an elf girl (or boy, I don't mind if you like them) didn't go as planned, or what is at the root of your irrational hate? Here in Europe this game has quite nice popularity, and those playing it enjoy it. I for one am giving it more time to evolve, as I don't have the money spared right now, but your attitude is shocking. If only I had one dollar for every post you made against this game, I'd be a really wealthy man by now. You spend more time bashing this game, than others spend playing it, are you sure you're ok?
Well you Capt are a liar and I'm not going to help pad your post count. That being said, I was on the same server last night and it was no where near empty. And if your friend can't find a group at low lvl then he needs to work on his communication skills because it is not hard to find a group in that game.
My lack of knowledge of the game since being new prevented me from debating the other issues you go on with the others about here and for the most part I stayed out of it. But you sir seemed to have been caught in a lie several times about this game or you simply do not respond to the post cause you know you have been caught or you dodge the question and rant about something off topic.
Fact is a few of us myself and a few friends tried the trial and liked the game. So I went shopping for the best price I could find and found it on amazon. You can go on and on and on about how 9 dollars is spelling doooommm for DDO I don't care go right ahead. I saw a deal I took it. I enjoy DDO immensly and will continue to pay Turbine monthly till I do not find it fun anymore or need a break. I've done it with several mmorpgs.
I play the game to have fun, not because it has 7 million people, I love being the underdog. I don't care that it isn't the top leading mmorpg out. Honestly, ask me if I care. Turbine doesn't pay me to care about numbers.
Goodluck in your one-man crusade to rid the world of its ignorance to DDO, but this is one subscriber who is happy staying with DDO.
Well you Capt are a liar and I'm not going to help pad your post count.
Is that the only thing you can come with to deny what I saw.

He asked around, but there was no one no available. He got in one guild and NO ONE talked. We ran by waterworks and no one was there. Again, there was only 3 people looking for quest and they were out of his level range. So stop lying about server being filled.
By the way my friend went to Fernia server today and got a +1 Full plate at near start of the game. Even though server is full, he hasn't found a person to party with yet. I would say the community is friendly, but more odd from what he told me. Look for a person name Armia later today.
My lack of knowledge of the game since being new prevented me from debating the other issues you go on with the others about here and for the most part I stayed out of it.
You still need to.
But you sir seemed to have been caught in a lie several times about this game
Please tell me.
or you simply do not respond to the post cause you know you have been caught or you dodge the question and rant about something off topic.
I left topics that were either insulting or the answer I was getting were circular answers. When I was ask had I fought the Titan, I decline because no matter what I told you, you wouldn't believe. When I finally did tell you how to fight the Titan, the immediate assumption was that I wa copy and pasted from somewhere else. Yet no one could prove a source as to where I got it. EVEN though there are no FAQs for how to fight Titan or at least not to my knowledge.
You guy believe what you want to believe, but then I'm not trying to preach to a deaf crowd. I'm trying to preach those who want to try the game and I give them fair warning.
Fact is a few of us myself and a few friends tried the trial and liked the game.
Damn, I forgot my bag of hero cookies.

Join the club, we've all been sucker into paying for games that suck. DDO is another sucky MMORPG in long line of sucky MMORPG that we pay for. Vanguard from what I hear is going to be another. One day, a company will make a game that appeals to all players and not the narrow-minded fanboys.

Better to one man standing alone to be an idiot playing alongside thousands who pay for a half-ass game.

Nope you are the single trolling idiot bashing a game that you clearly don't have a clue about and getting shown to be a idiot every time you open your mouth.

How in the world you have managed to avoid being banned I am still trying to figure out Captain. I love how you call anyone that plays the game an idiot and narrow-minded fanboy. I would imagine that most all of those on this forum have an IQ greater than yours.

Well I figure the only way to stop a troll is to stop feeding it. So, I'm going to assume your going to reply to this with some witty remark, heck you may prove me wrong and not reply. But, hey congrats Capt! You got the last word with me in my book. Like I said, I am not going to pad your post count. I think you've already been disproved and a liar by a lot of people on these forums no need for me to jump in and try to disprove you.

Agreed Sevenwind. I am going to do my best to refrain from commenting back to him as well. Instead for every lie he tells, every dig against DDO he falsely makes, instead of commenting in reply to him, I will be sure to correct his lies indirectly. Besides anyone with a half brain can see by this point that he doesn't have a lick of sense or intelligence.

RPG you are wrong, PVP was always listed as a feature to be added. You are completely wrong saying that they added it because they were losing subscriber numbers. In fact you are completely wrong in saying that DDO has lost any subscriber numbers. There is no data that shows that whatsoever. PvP was in the design docs in Alpha which I got to test early on. It was always stated that it would not be in the game at launch because it was not a a main focal point of the game and they were commited to launching the core game first. Crafting will also be in the game as well, and will be implemented in a later module. These have been discussed by the developers as far back as 2004. The only stance about DDO that you are making that is somewhat accurate is that they added a soloing feature to the game. I disagree that it is a focus of the game like you make it sound. It is strictly a marketing tool for people that tried the game and could not solo before. It was a very simple feature to add because they could take a lot of existing content and scale back the difficulty settings for 1 player to handle. This is not a direction change for the game as much as it is enhancing the new player experience. ALL MMORPGs live and die with the new player experience. If you cannot get somebody involved within the first hour that they log into your game, then you probably will not retain them as a customer. WoW has made numerous changes since it has launched for this very same reason. They listen to feedback and implement what they can to make the game a better experience for its players.

Why would I be banned for speaking the truth about a game that I actually PLAY and that I am not just pulling crap out of my ass to try to make a game look bad that it is quite easy to tell that people enjoy.
You have no life other than to troll the DDO forums and stir up crap.
You my mind.

I'm in a nice mood, so I'll sum it up without deleting/warning/banning. Anymore insulting, berating, personal attacks, etc. will be dealt with harshly.
Keep it civil, clean, and respectful. Or else...
G'day now.

Fun factor is a matter of opinion if you ask me. You go on and on about how DDO is repetitive, which is cool that is your opinion. I don't see the difference any other mmorp. EQ2 at lvl 70 I found myself raiding on certain nights and if not it was doing instance dungeons that you did the previous nights over and over again. Same with COH, once you did one mission it is all the same pretty much. Both of those games I still had fun doing the same stuff over and over again. If you got good friends, and a good guild it isn't so bad. I'm in no rush to get to the top level in DDO. The journey is more fun than grinding as fast as you can in ten days to see all the content you possibly can. If WoW is adding more dungeons I think it could be a good thing in adding variety to the game.
We find repetition with no end in sight fastinating until we find ourselves back where we started. Some people come to this realization sooner then others. However, a good gaming company knows how to spicy things up by offer twists or give players objective outside of gaining XP. WoW problem is that they've come full circle now with their quests NOW. There isn't much the game can add to make the game any different.
DDO is doing the same thing by adding dungeon after dungeon of the same gameplay. I ask this question before, what is there to do outside of questing in DDO. Once you've reach level 12, what else is there to do?
What exactly do you want them to do. They have added auctions houses. They have added content with random traps and even setups as far as to what appears where.
Now instead of just plain bashing Turbine and or DDO, why not come up with solutions and or answers. All you are basically doing is being a jackass otherwise. Bashing DDO is NOT the solution. Why not try and give constructive criticism for a change instead.
Well all of the new quests are really good imo. Very long, difficult puzzles to solve and very challenging. RPG I think you are missing the point of every single MMORPG out there. They are all grinds. You can only do so many things in a game before you start repeating. I can't think of one game that doesn't repeat and regurgitate content and systems. Maybe you can tell me a game that got it right in your opinion, but I am sure there are 20 other people that can rip that game apart. At the end of the day it really depends if you enjoy what you are playing. As far as D&D being a solo game it is not. All of the content that is released is geared toward high lvls and requires a full party to be successful. They made the game easier for lvl 1 and 2 chars to get into the game and learn there class and the interface. DDO can't survive if new players are not getting into the game so all they did from my point of view is make the game easier for new players. Some of the funniest parts about playing a new character is seeing new people from WoW or whatever other game come in and try and zerg through everything, so that video was a good marketing point for them to let potential players know that you can't play this game like you do WoW which is where a majority of new players are coming from. For me the fact that Turbine can spit out new content every month and new game features is worth the sub fee. For others it may not be. As far as adding monthly content, Turbine with a fraction of staff that WoW has seems to do a much better job. I am not a WoW player anymore so I am not sure if they have tons of new content since the game launched 2 years ago.
1. The quests all the same objective. The quests are only fun because you playing with FRIENDS.
2. All the quests in all games are group-oriented. What you think can solo Deadmines in WoW?
3. You can't zerg through the quests in WoW no more than you can do any other rpg. So stop lying through your teeth. In MMORPG, you can only zip through a quests that you've been through a hundred times. They've done in DDO and other MMORPGs. Stop giving this game qualities it doesn't have.
4. What makes WoW a good game is the fact you have more objectives than run dungeons all day. Make a few dungeons and people get bored. (DDO mistakes) Make too many dungeons and people get frustrated. (Which is what WoW doing) People ARE going to get pissed when you start getting over 200 to 300 quests because they don't want to do over 150 to 200 quest to get to the real juicy content. Having played DDO, you don't get into the so called "juicy" stuff until later just like every other game.
5. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that new players get into the game (for a while) because they are fooled into thinking it like another mmorpg. They see the solo content and pvp, but then soon come to realize that aren't being elaborate on and jet. One guys left in the Official forums because the game didn't have full on solo. That and they realize the game is repetitive. Like I said some people find this out faster than others. Now this is way to funny!! Comparing WoW to DDO is not even remotely close in either case. They are as different as oil and water.
DDO is not nearly the grind WoW is. You can not loot camp in DDO. You can not sit and kill the same monster over and over like you can in WoW. If you are saying that Objectives are important and content is not.. then I guess you will really like WoW. WoW allows you to grind to your hearts content, with the lack of content that WoW puts out compared to DDO, I guess that is all that is important to you.
Now explain what you mean by objective and we will be happy to slam you for that too.
Make sure you give your criticism here or on some other non official board. Turbine has decided that if you don't like the game, you can't express that on their forums. It's all cool, they own the forums, but they don't own the internet and it's refreshing that there are other places that allow honest discussion. Is the Cap'n here constructive, certainly not, but by the same token the sychophant fanbois at the official baords are no more helpful. the game is fun and I will continue to play, but it's sad that you can't epxress the truth, i.e. that the dev team has to keep us jumping through the same hoops. No matter how much new content they release all their plans basically resort to the sad technique of making people re roll in order to pad the currently limited content. They say they don't want you to reroll yet all their "veteran" rewards basically encourage re rolling. But express that on the official boards and you get silienced, not banned because banning might make you cnacel and they can't afford that. Oh well it's a fun game, has a nice community but is run by corporate tools who try to act like they aren't tools. I don't mind tools, I work with they everyday, but have the decency to admit you are tools.
BTW nice job Cap'n generating a buzz about DDO, Turbine can't seem to manage that on their own. Maybe they should hire you like they did with Dane, Viglin and the rest of the Turbine Advocacy Group. TAG ftw!!!!

I'm going to give you the list my friend gave me when I talked on the phone with him.
- Exploreable area. He got tired of doing dungeon after dungeon.
- DDO needs a face lift. My friend said the game should be about imagine. Even if it's going to suck it should be pretty to look at. (Yes he's seen the game on it's highest levels) This coming from a sale manager and he knows image means everything.
- Program some of the feat to work correctly. The current version of Cleave and Great Cleave are crap for example.
- Fix the collision system because he'll shoot arrows at monster in front him and nothing will happen. Sometimes, there is nothing indicating he missed or he rolled.
- Pants, visual armor accessories like capes and custom visual armor. I have a beef with this too personal because I hate wearing body suits and being able to see visual the items I put on.
- Level restriction on items. Too many people walking around giving otherp people enchanted equipment.
- Better fighting animations. My friend cosplay and he also knows how to use some of the weapons DnD (Expert with blades mostly) uses and the way DDO animates the character is completely wrong.
- Something about not using the DM Narrator.
I can't remember everything else he said, but that's about it.
1. Uh...WoW has a partially imbalance PvP, Crafting, soloing (not just 3 levels of it either), they hundreds of equipment to find, raiding. DDO has a very imbalance, 3 levels of soloing and PvE. You have limit equipment to find, but the only four you'll see visually is your helmet, body armor, shield and weapon. The objective I speak of is having something to do outside PvE because if you reach the end of DDO (or you simply want to do something other than PVE), what is there to do? Other games, not just WoW, give you other stuff to do like side quest, crafting, etc.
2. Players hating the quests because you have to kill 20 monster isn't even close to truth consider every game including DDO has that quest. I've been on both the WoW messageboard here and on the official site. (Because I love watching WoW players whine.) The biggest beef with the quests is not that they are boring (these people are only a minority) but because they aren't accessible to everyone and the creatures take a long time to respawn. Most quests take no more than 5 to 10 minutes to finish so they don't take a real long time unless it's delivery quest or an you're an idiot. The only people who have hard time doing quest is Warriors when they go solo. So the majority of people who thought the game was boring were probably former Warriors who got frustrated in dying a lot. Most post I see on the official site, happy ones from other classes who have more success killing monsters and finishing quest. Again, the MYTH that every quest requires you to kill 20 monsters comes from people like you haven't been through the entire game or are going by the word of the mouth.
3. You're not a CEO Turbine so you consideration means nothing. You can consider DDO a puzzle game fighter game for all I care. DDO IS MMORPG; moreover a MMORPG clone because it didn't do anything different. MMO because other people play this game online and RPG because it has a lot rpg elements. If this were sole action adventure game, it wouldn't be on MMORPG.com. Stop coming up with excuses as to why this game fell short of hardcore rpg expectations. Even if you were right that would false advertisement on Turbine's part and I (as well as other people) can sue.
4. Once again, most of the people who are attracted to this game are either European or DnD nerds from 70s and 80s who are around the ages of 27 to 50 and MINORITY. Oh don't let me forget the gold farmer who sell you stuff. They have a small community and the game has it share of idiots. The reason DDO is mature is because the community is small, not because they are older. I've ran into idiots who were around the ages of 28 when doing the trial version. So saying older people help make the gaming community a mature one is unrealistic outlook. Once again, older people do not make up the video game market, kids do.
Everything, you said doesn't contradict the fact that the community got small and Turbine changed it's policy from anti-soloing to pro-soloing. The very thing you are stating that DDO is not different because of the fact that it is not have mob camping and crafting and such. Is the very reason DDO is NOT a cookie cutter MMORPG such as WoW. DDO has tons of varieties of loot. They have PvP (which I can care less about). They have a variety of questing. Now if you wanted more solo content.. why on earth did you buy a game that says it is group based? Now yuou also say that the community is small. Why not post some numbers as facts proving that the community is small and lend some credance to your debate/arguement. Do not try and speak as a WE (thinking you speak for the majority of the players out there) because you in no way speak for ANYONE but your bad self.
I am tired of the little rants and jibes you make towards a game that has a decent player base and enjoys the game for what it is. I for one enjoy it myself. I do NOT solo nor would I, especially in the higher end content. If you bought it because you wanted to solo you bought it for the wrong reasons. Go back to WoW and listen to them whine and troll thier forums instead eh?

Once again Capn'RPG where do you get your data from?
I am neither European or a DnD nerd. Nor or most of those people that I have grouped with in the game. So I don't know where you are pulling that figure from. Sure a lot of hardcore DnD gamers play the game, but I don't think anyone can say what the total makeup of the game is like.
Haven't ran into a gold farmer in the game yet. But you now what? Unlike WoW and other games a gold farmer in DDO isn't that big of deal because it is instanced. You don't have to worry about them spawn camping your mobs or quest items.
You are wrong about older people not making up the video game market, I have seen a number of reports and polls that put the average gamer age around 30-35 years of age.
1. Bad on stasticis of Warcry last post, it safe to say that most people (I'm putting in bold because you have read comprehension problems) are DnD nerds or European. I did not exclude the casual player or non-European. And you manage to contradict yourself in that same sentence and made little sense at the same time.
2. I have not all had tell sent to me by a farmer in the last trial, but we had at least 2 farmer post in these forums before they got their topic erase or locked down. They are in EVERY GAME. And instance does not stop Gold farming. Most of the farmers make their money in dungeon.
3. That's STILL old. I said between the ages of 27 to 50. 35 isn't all that off from being the median. I would rather have a more mature gaming base then the 15-17 year olds that WoW seems to have. You quote or state the facts come from Warcry.. post a link then to the article in question. They are also speculating as Turbine does not release numbers. For good reason.. they cater to a niche market and numbers do not becry the actual following of the market they cater to. The trial does not SUCK people into a game they do not want to play.. you sit there and say things that make little sense. The trial does show the game off for what it is. a group based game and one that is fun, exciting and NOT the typical MMORPG. As far as Loot farmers go, yea they are in every game.. but if people like you stopped buying from them I guess we would not have to worry about it!

Where can you say that Turbine is touting DDO as a pro soloing game, that is a completely false statement. They made an ad early on to let players know that our game is not about soloing. They included solo quests on the earliest lvls of the game so new players would be able to advance at their own pace without having to group. This was some of the feedback they received about changes players that left the game would like to see. This helps new players get a feel for their class and the game and the User Interface. Once you pass levels 3 and 4 there are not really any specific quests made for soloing except going back and doing stuff that is a lvl or two below you and working on those.
As for DDO appealing to its core audience "DUH!" Not everygame is going to try for the mass audience. You stick to your core group of fans and hopefully can attract a few outside that group. D&D is the 10,000 lbs gorilla or the sword & sorcery genre. All games that are fantasy themed including WoW have borrowed heavily from its themes and concepts. The fact is WoW is the Britney Spears of the gaming world. Its not going to win a Grammy but it will sell lots and lots of records. WoW really didn't offer anything original that wasn't done before. It just put everying in a nice accessable package and appealed to the mainstream casual gamer. If all new MMORPG's that come out try and do this the whole industry is going to fall apart. We need games like DDO and EVE and others that don't appeal to Britney Spears crowd and focus on their core audience so gamers really do have a variety of different games to play. I don't want to play WoW with a D&D skin.
I think anyone reading this thread will see that I play the game and I enjoy the game. As i said before, its not a great game, its a good solid game. I have done a fair and accurate job giving my review of the game. There is a free trial that is a heck of a deal because whether you subscribe or not, in that 10 days, you will have as good or better trial experience then any other MMORPG out now. You can actually get to the core content and what the game is all about within that trial experience. Unlike most all the other games out, a carrot is dangled in front of you and you need to get through a lot unecessary grinding and unenjoyable playing to reach the best parts of the game. Some people seem to need the particular MMORPG they play to take over their life and devote 20+ hours a week to playing it. That is not the crowd that DDO targeted and they will never be able to satisfy that gamer.
So is it your contention that people don't even try the free trial? And if they do try it and enjoy it, that they don't play the game because some guy in a forum that has nothing better to do says it will cause them harm and will ruin their life and they just don't know better
Could not have said it better myself.. you the man!! Thank you!
Are you calling me a liar? I been on Reidra all night and saw many times WW groups pop up on the grouping tab. You know that WW groups fill up pretty fast cause people want access to the marketplace. I've done it twice and both times when it was advertised in the grouping tab it filled up in less than a minute of well rounded people. I play EQ2 as well and since the holidays there isn't a lot of people on and we have had to cancel two weeks of raids (guild I am in raids once a week) cause people are busy with the holidays. And it is not just in the guild I am in a friend of mine who raids nightly her guild has had to cancel a few raids cause people just not on for the holidays. And if you look in the search tab you will see a lot of people on. And probably why he only saw a handful is because people don't usually hang around they are in groups doing the dungeons. And if they are hanging around it is around the jester and the auction house. Originally posted by CaptainRPG
You guys went as far as lying. Like with Reidra when one poster say there endless stream of people going to Waterworks. Guess what. only a few hours ago, my friends who doing trial version while working EB Games was playing that same server and no one was at work work on in the server. They were a handful people who he spot every 5 to 10 minutes, but the place was damn near empty. I watch him play for 1 hour, yet you guys have been bragging that DDO is sweet, yet the proof that isn't lies in empty servers.
1. Yes, you are. Sorry to say, but Reidra is pretty empty from what I saw from EB Games. I swore I saw a tumbleweed go through the streets. I had ask my friend to go to waterworks and he came back to that spot every10 minutes after doing a quest and no one was there. In fact, hardly anyone was on the server. He didn't even get as much as invite to party and he got in one guild were everyone remained silent.
2. I look in the search tap and quest tab and hardly anyone was on and people weren't look for help for quests all that much. To be honest, I only saw 3 people need help with a quest well within level 7 to 12. You can say what you want, but there was no more 3 people looking for party and the number of people in Reidra was just LOW. Man.. you are such the fool. Just a forums troll. Why not try playing a game other then the normal cookie cutter type game. WoW seems to be perfect for you. Why the crusade to slam DDO? Does Niche market mean anything to you? I guess not.. seems to go right over your head! DDO does have a smaller player base then WoW because it does not cater to that type of player.. what DDO does do is make the game fun.. lets players into it's core content as soon as possible.. so you do not have to grind over and over to get to the good stuff early on and continuous as WoW does not seemt o want thier players to do, which seems is perfect for you.. you love the grind that WoW offers.. so GO THERE and play there.. or are you so bored of playing WoW that you have to come here instead?
My friend... now there is a statement that tells me all I need to know about you. Do you have your own opinion?? Do you PLAY the game?? If not then why are you posting here like you do?

I'll say once and say it again...read past post, son. You'll see my opinion. Start from the very beginning of this forum and make your way back here. A lot of what my friend said I agree with and more. If I could make changes, the game would be a completely different game by the time I finished.
This was something that I posted a while back from people that were contantly wanting every feature from Wow in DDO during alpha. I think the mentality is that they are so sure they are right that there is no room for anyone else's opinion. I think Captain RPG falls in line with this progression.
From one of my posts from a long time ago:
1) This game does not have feature X like game Y does.
2) Because this game does not have feature X, I will not play it.
3) I am representative of the majority of the people who are contemplating buying this game.
4) Therefore if I do not buy this game, few people will.
5) Therefore this game will fail.
(Please ignore the fact that if you do include feature X I will nevertheless only play the game for 2 months before becoming bored and leaving said game for game Z)
This applies to any one who hates over zealosly on any game in this forum. If you ever make more then 3 posts about a game you no longer play, you have some serious soul searching to do. In the great words of William Shatner from an episode of Saturday Night Live in a Skit about Captain Kirk speaking at a Star Trek Covention "For gods sakes people, get a life!"
By your analogy, we can't argue about anything except the extreme postive, which isn't what this forum or any forum is about. I believe in free speech and RPG has the right to say what he please as long as he does insult. Even if he has played this game in a long time, does that make his information less credible and does it give him less of right to be on this forum. You say RPG should be doing some serious soul searching because he post more than 3 posts in this forum. Ironically, the same could be said about you seeing as you spent several post replying to him and getting defensive. This applies to the others as well. As I just mentionws in my last post, rather than fight with CRPG, how about coming up with suggestive ideas to improve the game or a petition to ask Turbine to improve the quality of the game.
Well, I'm off to the Vanguard board. Hopefully, you'll figure something out. I just wanted to say my 2 cents because this whole board is full of negativity and isn't just coming one person, but all of you here because of you have nothing better to do, but talking about each other.

I'm in a nice mood, so I'll sum it up without deleting/warning/banning. Anymore insulting, berating, personal attacks, etc. will be dealt with harshly.
Keep it civil, clean, and respectful. Or else...
G'day now.

TAG ftw!!!!

Thank you!
He didn't even get as much as invite to party and he got in one guild were everyone remained silent.2.
DDO is doing the same thing by adding dungeon after dungeon of the same gameplay. I ask this question before, what is there to do outside of questing in DDO. Once you've reach level 12, what else is there to do?
What exactly do you want them to do. They have added auctions houses. They have added content with random traps and even setups as far as to what appears where.
Now instead of just plain bashing Turbine and or DDO, why not come up with solutions and or answers. All you are basically doing is being a jackass otherwise. Bashing DDO is NOT the solution. Why not try and give constructive criticism for a change instead.

Well, I'm off to the Vanguard board. Hopefully, you'll figure something out. I just wanted to say my 2 cents because this whole board is full of negativity and isn't just coming one person, but all of you here because of you have nothing better to do, but talking about each other.
