Just got back on the game again (I am one of those guys, who occasionally come back).
Since I know DnD like the back of my hand (as well as most dungeons), I play only for the social experience of the whole game. Am level 6 with my newest character, led many parties, and only one of those had problems (all the parties I play in are created by me). Social skill is at the root here, people who suck in real life will most probably suck in this game as well. It never ever took me more than 10 mins to create a fairly good party (not even at 7 in the morning), like I said: communication. Who cares if it's not for solo, if poeple like solo they can always go hang out in oblivion.
Here's where I must state, that I play in europe, meaning it's a whole new experience (I played on US servers as well), but I'll leave european superiority for another day ...

While I can't speak of the overseas servers, but I did play with a bloke from England last night on the American servers and he was a friendly chap that I had a great time grouping with. I completely agree with your assessment that if you lack real life social skills that most like you are not going to make it very far in this game. This game certainly isn't a haven for 1337 speak and such. Matter of fact I haven't seen any chat so far in game saying Learn2Play, or such. By far the most mature community of MMO gamers that I have ever game across.
I am not saying that some immature kids and adults don't play the game. I am sure there are plenty of them. They just don't fair too well in this game. And as Yet54 mentioned elsewhere the social tab is a miracle worker because you can see who is in a group before you join up. So if you see someone in a group that you know is childish or a troublemaker you can just skip right over that group and go to the next one.
I agree with the who cares if it isn't solo, or if it does have solo. The game is about making friends and having fun. Sure people want to get Uber gear but thanks to the fact that you can't Ninja in this game as chest have seperate player loot tables and that mob collection drops can be accessed by anyone and everyone in the group. This game goes above and beyond keeping things friendly and fun.
