But yes...they did make me an honorary moderator on the forums just because i work for the sister company of GameSHOUT, but i think i have more posts here than there...lol. So please go and enjoy what you will in the world of gaming, but it is my interest only to bring information on ALL games to the public. And my first contact here was about the Vanguard Keys. Additionally nothing I stated in these forums was untrue or in any way less than honest. So if LC is not your cup of tea, fine by me...no skin off MY nose. I earn my salary from reporting on and reviewing video games, and not at all from LC.
And one final point, I'm also not some kid that has nothing better to do than find the negative in everything around him. I am an adult...well, actually an older adult...lol...but have been a gamer since Pong. I have interviewed some of the biggest names in the video game world including the inventor of Pong and founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell, (the list also includes Sid Meier, Tom Kenny - a comedian and the voice of Spongebob Squarepants and he was funnier than i expected - Fatal1ty and Zyos, Curt Schilling - pitcher for the Boston Red Sox about his work with EQ II - American McGee, Mike Sepso - CEO of the MLG - and even with William Shattner - THE Captain Kirk himself). I've got a great reputation in this industry and have done nothing to soil that. And if you think that i would EVER pack your systems with spyware, well, that is not my style. I am a former police officer, (SWAT and undercover Vice and Narcotics), turned business man turned journalist and game reviewer. I am a former Marine and have always been a man of honor. So just because I let some friends of MMORPG.com know about a beta that is coming up, that does not make me an evil person and I would appreciate your checking that garbage at the door. If you don't like the game, OKAY. If you disagree with accepting pre-orders before a beta, fine, (honestly, I disagree with that too but have no authority to make any policy for our parent company). But my integrity is in tact here folks. I am not doing anything underhanded here, simply informing so that members here may make their OWN educated decisions about another game.
And if you still want, I will continue to offer beta keys for future games to my friends here, and if not, it's not my loss. I think the people that I have met here are generally good folks and I like to "share the wealth" with those kind of people.
Oh, and one more thing, Happy New Year EVERYONE. I hope that all of your gaming wishes come true in 2007.

But frankly I find it hard to believe that a former 'Marine' (probably a San Diego Marine) and former 'Narcotics' officer would align himself with such a shady company (actually in these days and times, no I don't).
Lets talk about LC for a second shall we? Why do the LC staff feel it so neccessary to ban people who are sceptical and dig for answers rather then prove them wrong? I mean your a so called 'Game reviewer' lots of these potential customers have heard the horror stories of Mourning and DnL and are very sceptical, and frankly who can blame them. But instead of understanding people are sceptical as hell and want to know how a game that touts as much content as LC does can go under the radar so long. They bash and then ban those people and on several occasions erase post.
I myself recieved a IP ban with the message "Just pisses me off :P" and what was my crime? Merly pointing a few things I found to be interesting. Like one Staff memeber (SOS) would contradict another (Rift)...For example SOS asked people what we thought about 3rd person review, he went on to say that it WAS ingame for grunts but it would not be like Planetsides 3rd person view. Later in that thread another Rift posted that it was never in game for grunts and he was glad to see that people felt as he did in that it was not needed for grunts..Now how can two people who are supposedly working on the same project not be in agreement on if 3rd person view is ingame or not. Thats just one example of the contradictions there are many others.
Another example, early on in the life of the LC forums the main staff member posting things about the game was Andy Hodge (I believe thats the correct spelling). He as a matter of fact was the first 'Staff' member to post on those forums. A few days later SOS appeard and basicly made a post, if I recall correctly stating that Andy had nothing to do with LC. A few days after that all of Andys post were replaced by a staff member called 'BakingSoda'. The LC guys even went so far as to switch around BakingSodas join date with Andys Date to make it appear that BS originally made those post and not Andy. But the idiots forgot some things, not only can some of us remember things, on some of the post by "BakingSoda" at the bottom of the post would be the name Andy. It appears the idiots forgot to erase that as well.. This struck me as odd, why go thru the trouble of trying of deleting Andys post and then making them appear as if BakingSoda wrote them right after you state that Andy has nothing to do with the game? Unless your trying to hide something I see no reason for it, I merely pointed this out to people and recieved a IP ban for it and alot of my post were erased, strange.......
What about the lack of any reviews/news about the game on any site other then GameShout (lol WHO?). SOS tried to post that EVE Online was the same way that it just came out of nowhere as well. I quickly corrected the tard and provided links(with dates prior to EVE release) about how sites like GameSpot were following(interviews) the game 2-3 years prior to release. And how one game site even had it as runner up at E-3 (a year prior to release) for Best Graphics...How can you compare EVE, a game that had mass reviews from various sites and won awards(E-3) prior to release, to Lost Colony....
All and all it just appears that these guys are up to something or are not trying to be truthfull. I get the same vibe from them that I got when I was reading about Mourning or DnL.. They appear to be lost and seem like they are out for a buck rather then providing the MMORPG community with a quality game. Banning potential customers (creating enemys) who are sceptical just proves my point.
Bottom line best case scenario is that this is another Mom and Pop shop MMORPG created by a few guys to make a quick buck. Worse case scenario is that its a bunch of guys out to pull a Mourning. As a former "Police officer" you would think one would choose his acquaintances better, but then agian when I think of how alot of Cops are, maybe thats just wishfull thinking....

Hi Tinybina; It appears to me that your big beef is not really the game but WHO is developing the game. Who CARES about the individuals of that team? It really does not matter...it's a non-issue. Sure you also mention inconsistencies with the development team statements. How many games have you been behind the scenes with? From my experience, they don't always agree with certain aspects of the game that they are working on. Also many team members work on different sections of the game and don't cross over into each other's work very often. What i like about this game is that they are taking CONSTRUCTIVE input from the community and placing it into the game...so they are listening to the community and using what is good. I commend them for that.
Now is if is a small development team creating this game, again, who cares? Counter Strike was a "mom & pop" development team and the game was bought out by a larger company after showing great success. That's a positive vote for the small development company, but since a large company bought them out, that company does not listen to input from their community anymore where the small team did. Again, how many times do you think EA listens to the BF community for input that will ever make it into the game? not very often at all IF at all.
Now as for the credibility of the company I keep, you know nothing about me or them and to question someone's integrity without knowing is more slander than statement of fact. Our GameSHOUT staff is one of the most credible in the business. You ask who about GameSHOUT, and suffice it to say that the game companies know who we are. As does iTunes, Yahoo, Google, because that is where our podcasts and news is distributed from. And I would much rather be credible with the likes of them than with a small and narrow-minded person. We are the only major independent gaming organization that has not been taken over by some large corporation and that is not due to a lack of offers, because we have had offers and turned them down. Our goal is to keep a certain objectivity that would be missing is some huge conglomerate were to take us over.
Now I don't know who banned you from their forums at LC but I know i didn't because I don't have that authority. I also don't do the marketing or PR for LC because if I did, it would be all over the place. But many people ARE talking about it...good or bad, even YOU are talking about it and bringing attention to the game. And even then, I really don't care what you think about the game. That's not my job. My job is only to report about it and all of the other games that are out there.
And btw, I am a Paris Island Marine and your pessimism is astounding. Are you this negative about everything and everyone? How sad...
And ciid, Nolan Bushnell, the inventor of Pong and founder of Atari is one of the most famous people in the gaming industry and one of the most sought-after interviews. Just WHO have YOU interviewed? Yeah...i didn't think so. We did a live interview during a live broadcast at E3 a couple of years back and a follow-up phone interview about a year ago. How many E3 conventions have YOU done a live broadcast or interview from? How many attended? Yeah...thought so. But that is an interesting pic...must have taken you some time to do that...nice job.

But hey, "Dark and Light", "Mourning" and "The Chronicle" all had similar warning signs & they turned out great games for the consumers...
Why does this seem like a joke to me? I look on the website, and it says this is going to be on PC, Mac, PS3 and XBox 360 yet you guys don't even have the time to put up movies and screenshots and this game is suposed to be coming out this month? Look if this was really for all those systems, IGN would have probabily had this up on their site about now, but it dosen't exist there. So how can I beleive this? I have to thank whoever found the thread with screenshots. Your telling me this will be on PS3 and XBox 360? You expect people to pick this up?
Not only that your taking pre-orders with no sign of beta. Seems like a scam to me. Games are usually built around media such as ScreenShots, Wallpaper, and movies. I seen those screenshots and for your infomation, they don't seem like next-gen graphics. That's 2 gen-ago graphics. Look, if it's being made on all those platforms which obviously cost $$$ and it's suposed to be comming out this month and it's not on IGN or Gamespot, I don't think I should waste my time hang around.
I will tell you somthing that is comming out though, Lost Planet, which I reserved for. I don't think Lost Colony well sum up to it. I'd have to thank the members of mmorpg.com for already dishing out a few things already.
What puzzle me with Lost Colony "soap opera" is the fact that the devs did not publish any in game screenshots yet. I like to give them credit for their work but so far they only show bad PR. With all the "dirty" talk around their game, if I am in their shoes I will be quick to release a set of in game screenshots or even a little movie about the game play, show in game render of vehicle, weapons, bases etc.. But no they stick with their "it's not the final game you test" for each of their beta.
I tested their 0.50 beta and well, I was not impressed. So far this seems just a mod of the Torque starter.fps, make a terrain, put a new character in instead of the orc, change the weapon image. Add a base and voila. That should take about 2 hours to any good torque moder. Add another day to mod a little the GUI and you good. Torque will support about 100 players without much of a problem without need to play with the net code. So they good for now.
With the little beta releases they produce almost daily, if you read the "release fix" it seem that they have one developer fixing and adding features on the fly. That will go for a while till they stumble on a real problem.
I do not blame them for trying, in fact if they can "extract" money from peoples with just what they are showing, it's the proof I am in the right business, throw anything to the "suckers" they will buy it. But I have ethics so I won't, am I that stupid ?
Now here's the deal-io on the additional Vanguard beta keys. I received 40 additional requests for keys after giving away the original 25 keys we were first given. Well I'm sorry to say that Sony Online Entertainment only gave us another 25 keys. I know that there are a lot more of you that want to try this game than I have keys. And i REALLY wish I could give all 40+ of you keys right now but I'm afraid that will be impossible. So I will be writing each of you who wrote me and requested keys and letting you know one way or the other where that stands. The first 25 that wrote me will receive the keys that I just received. For those of you who are disappointed, I am sorry and will lash myself 50 times with a wet noodle as penance. But at least you will receive a personal answer.
I'll be sure to let you all know if I get more of these keys, and will be sure to let you know when i get more keys for future betas. Thanks for your patience, and I'll cya in there!

Counter Strike is/was NOT a MMO. Comparing the two are like comparing apples and oranges... But as a person working in the gamming industry you would think you would know that....LC is perhaps the only MMO in the history that has tried to fly under the radar like this, I wonder why...

Which is another reason why people think something is up with this game. SOS stated that prior to release which if im not mistaken is suppose to be Jan 3 unless they pushed it back (agian) they would launch a MASSIVE add compaign if I remember correctly... Well here we are (Jan 2) and the only hype of the game is some little employee arguing over the internets with people on one of MMORPG's least visited forums... Yeah thats some exposure there boy...Oh wait I forgot about this post forums.station.sony.com/ps/posts/list.m that some dude named andy777 (Who constantly stays logged in for some odd reason...) made back in November on PLANETSIDES OFFICIAL FORUMS... Way to get your name out there!

LC staff and it's minions have not provided a SINGLE SHREAD of proof.. not a screenshot.. not a video.. not a single line of C code added to Torque (means they know Zero on torque and are noobs that just go it a couple months ago). NOTHING

what exactly is Lost Colony's stage??? is it in beta? alpha? or prototypes? I tried it last night, it looks as much done as Infinity:quest for earth's combat prototype 2.1
Lost Colony's story takes place in the mid-23rd century. Corporations are vying for the resources of other planets. The Veritas Corporation launches a ship on a 50 year journey for a mining operation to a nearby star system, Sirus. However, something goes wrong and the ship ends up at the nearby star system of Procyon.
After the crew wakes from their cryo-sleep, they come to the conclusion that the planet would be acceptable for their mining operations. Shortly after mining commences, the Colonists split into three factions:

Lost Colony will be a First Person Shooter experience with a territorial control conquest of hacking and gaining control of different bases and different resources in the name of your faction, similar to PlanetSide. Different bases provide different functions and different resources, these bases are permanent structures in the game which are contested by the three factions.
The in-game guild system, called Outfits, allow players another aspect of territorial control by building upgradeable bases at strategic 'plots' for players to obtain vehicles, weapons, and a respawn point. These Outfit bases cannot be captured like other bases, only destroyed.
In addition to the FPS experience, the game will implement and economy system 'credits' will be awarded to soldiers as a salary during playtime. Players are also able to earn credits by performing tasks such as gaining bases for their faction and supplying bases with energy. Credits can be used by players to buy weapons, vehicles, or respawns and are transferable between other players and their outfit.[3]
Lost Colony is a next-gen video game which is built on the robust AAA Torque Shader technology. The rendering engine itself has improved terrain, water renderers that produce amazingly realistic water with normalmap-perturbed dynamic reflection, surface reflection, and even glow effects for a simple bullet. Lost Colony is currently using DirectX 9 for modern shader cards. Additional technical information [4] can be found on their site. So far the website has released small test version of the game and they look barely more developed than the FPS Demo you can get when you download the Torque Engine.
Like I said before, if this was ever comming to PC, Xbox 360, Mac and Playstaion 3, the game would be much more prettier and gaming sites would have already put up stuff about it which already shown me this is a complete fake.

I see once again that Vashnar (or aka Randy as we call him on Torque's GG website) is causing problems again. He has done this to other game companies that were legit. He is a liar. I have read that 25 page thread of his on PlanetSide and it's filled with fibs. It started out as a game that doesn't exist because it doesn't have a server. As he gets people to belive his lies, he then goes a step further to say that this game is nothing but a Torque demo. Again, another lie. There's already enough original content in Lost Colony to send the Torque demo overboard. Now he's telling people that Lost Colony is a scam.
I read what he did to the Lost Colony page on Wikipedian today, setting yet another example of his sickness. It has to be a mental health issue because this guy is on just about every game board all day long talking bad about Lost Colony. Vashnar is a liar by sickness. This psychopath is out of control.

I would assume that if they didn't want people to take you seriously, Vash, that they would not do the things you're saying. The fact that they seem to be doing things in exactly the way you portray them doesn't lend LC any credence. And one final point, I'm also not some kid that has nothing better to do than find the negative in everything around him. I am an adult...well, actually an older adult...lol...but have been a gamer since Pong. I have interviewed some of the biggest names in the video game world including the inventor of Pong and founder of Atari, Nolan Bushnell, (the list also includes Sid Meier, Tom Kenny - a comedian and the voice of Spongebob Squarepants and he was funnier than i expected - Fatal1ty and Zyos, Curt Schilling - pitcher for the Boston Red Sox about his work with EQ II - American McGee, Mike Sepso - CEO of the MLG - and even with William Shattner - THE Captain Kirk himself). I've got a great reputation in this industry and have done nothing to soil that. And if you think that i would EVER pack your systems with spyware, well, that is not my style. I am a former police officer, (SWAT and undercover Vice and Narcotics), turned business man turned journalist and game reviewer. I am a former Marine and have always been a man of honor. So just because I let some friends of MMORPG.com know about a beta that is coming up, that does not make me an evil person and I would appreciate your checking that garbage at the door. If you don't like the game, OKAY. If you disagree with accepting pre-orders before a beta, fine, (honestly, I disagree with that too but have no authority to make any policy for our parent company). But my integrity is in tact here folks. I am not doing anything underhanded here, simply informing so that members here may make their OWN educated decisions about another game.
And if you still want, I will continue to offer beta keys for future games to my friends here, and if not, it's not my loss. I think the people that I have met here are generally good folks and I like to "share the wealth" with those kind of people.

Lets talk about LC for a second shall we? Why do the LC staff feel it so neccessary to ban people who are sceptical and dig for answers rather then prove them wrong? I mean your a so called 'Game reviewer' lots of these potential customers have heard the horror stories of Mourning and DnL and are very sceptical, and frankly who can blame them. But instead of understanding people are sceptical as hell and want to know how a game that touts as much content as LC does can go under the radar so long. They bash and then ban those people and on several occasions erase post.
I myself recieved a IP ban with the message "Just pisses me off :P" and what was my crime? Merly pointing a few things I found to be interesting. Like one Staff memeber (SOS) would contradict another (Rift)...For example SOS asked people what we thought about 3rd person review, he went on to say that it WAS ingame for grunts but it would not be like Planetsides 3rd person view. Later in that thread another Rift posted that it was never in game for grunts and he was glad to see that people felt as he did in that it was not needed for grunts..Now how can two people who are supposedly working on the same project not be in agreement on if 3rd person view is ingame or not. Thats just one example of the contradictions there are many others.
Another example, early on in the life of the LC forums the main staff member posting things about the game was Andy Hodge (I believe thats the correct spelling). He as a matter of fact was the first 'Staff' member to post on those forums. A few days later SOS appeard and basicly made a post, if I recall correctly stating that Andy had nothing to do with LC. A few days after that all of Andys post were replaced by a staff member called 'BakingSoda'. The LC guys even went so far as to switch around BakingSodas join date with Andys Date to make it appear that BS originally made those post and not Andy. But the idiots forgot some things, not only can some of us remember things, on some of the post by "BakingSoda" at the bottom of the post would be the name Andy. It appears the idiots forgot to erase that as well.. This struck me as odd, why go thru the trouble of trying of deleting Andys post and then making them appear as if BakingSoda wrote them right after you state that Andy has nothing to do with the game? Unless your trying to hide something I see no reason for it, I merely pointed this out to people and recieved a IP ban for it and alot of my post were erased, strange.......
What about the lack of any reviews/news about the game on any site other then GameShout (lol WHO?). SOS tried to post that EVE Online was the same way that it just came out of nowhere as well. I quickly corrected the tard and provided links(with dates prior to EVE release) about how sites like GameSpot were following(interviews) the game 2-3 years prior to release. And how one game site even had it as runner up at E-3 (a year prior to release) for Best Graphics...How can you compare EVE, a game that had mass reviews from various sites and won awards(E-3) prior to release, to Lost Colony....
All and all it just appears that these guys are up to something or are not trying to be truthfull. I get the same vibe from them that I got when I was reading about Mourning or DnL.. They appear to be lost and seem like they are out for a buck rather then providing the MMORPG community with a quality game. Banning potential customers (creating enemys) who are sceptical just proves my point.
Bottom line best case scenario is that this is another Mom and Pop shop MMORPG created by a few guys to make a quick buck. Worse case scenario is that its a bunch of guys out to pull a Mourning. Now is if is a small development team creating this game, again, who cares? Counter Strike was a "mom & pop" development team and the game was bought out by a larger company after showing great success. That's a positive vote for the small development company, but since a large company bought them out, that company does not listen to input from their community anymore where the small team did. Again, how many times do you think EA listens to the BF community for input that will ever make it into the game? not very often at all IF at all.
Now as for the credibility of the company I keep, you know nothing about me or them and to question someone's integrity without knowing is more slander than statement of fact. Our GameSHOUT staff is one of the most credible in the business. You ask who about GameSHOUT, and suffice it to say that the game companies know who we are. As does iTunes, Yahoo, Google, because that is where our podcasts and news is distributed from. And I would much rather be credible with the likes of them than with a small and narrow-minded person. We are the only major independent gaming organization that has not been taken over by some large corporation and that is not due to a lack of offers, because we have had offers and turned them down. Our goal is to keep a certain objectivity that would be missing is some huge conglomerate were to take us over.
Now I don't know who banned you from their forums at LC but I know i didn't because I don't have that authority. I also don't do the marketing or PR for LC because if I did, it would be all over the place. But many people ARE talking about it...good or bad, even YOU are talking about it and bringing attention to the game. And even then, I really don't care what you think about the game. That's not my job. My job is only to report about it and all of the other games that are out there.

Yeah...i didn't think so. We did a live interview during a live broadcast at E3 a couple of years back and a follow-up phone interview about a year ago. How many E3 conventions have YOU done a live broadcast or interview from? How many attended? Yeah...thought so. But that is an interesting pic...must have taken you some time to do that...nice job.

Not only that your taking pre-orders with no sign of beta. Seems like a scam to me. Games are usually built around media such as ScreenShots, Wallpaper, and movies. I seen those screenshots and for your infomation, they don't seem like next-gen graphics. That's 2 gen-ago graphics. Look, if it's being made on all those platforms which obviously cost $$$ and it's suposed to be comming out this month and it's not on IGN or Gamespot, I don't think I should waste my time hang around.
I will tell you somthing that is comming out though, Lost Planet, which I reserved for. I don't think Lost Colony well sum up to it. I'd have to thank the members of mmorpg.com for already dishing out a few things already.

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
I tested their 0.50 beta and well, I was not impressed. So far this seems just a mod of the Torque starter.fps, make a terrain, put a new character in instead of the orc, change the weapon image. Add a base and voila. That should take about 2 hours to any good torque moder. Add another day to mod a little the GUI and you good. Torque will support about 100 players without much of a problem without need to play with the net code. So they good for now.
With the little beta releases they produce almost daily, if you read the "release fix" it seem that they have one developer fixing and adding features on the fly. That will go for a while till they stumble on a real problem.
I do not blame them for trying, in fact if they can "extract" money from peoples with just what they are showing, it's the proof I am in the right business, throw anything to the "suckers" they will buy it. But I have ethics so I won't, am I that stupid ?

Vanguard beta keys update:
Now here's the deal-io on the additional Vanguard beta keys. I received 40 additional requests for keys after giving away the original 25 keys we were first given. Well I'm sorry to say that Sony Online Entertainment only gave us another 25 keys. I know that there are a lot more of you that want to try this game than I have keys. And i REALLY wish I could give all 40+ of you keys right now but I'm afraid that will be impossible. So I will be writing each of you who wrote me and requested keys and letting you know one way or the other where that stands. The first 25 that wrote me will receive the keys that I just received. For those of you who are disappointed, I am sorry and will lash myself 50 times with a wet noodle as penance. But at least you will receive a personal answer.
I'll be sure to let you all know if I get more of these keys, and will be sure to let you know when i get more keys for future betas. Thanks for your patience, and I'll cya in there!

Lost Colony is a next-gen video game which is built on the robust AAA Torque Shader technology. I see once again that Vashnar (or aka Randy as we call him on Torque's GG website) is causing problems again. He has done this to other game companies that were legit. He is a liar. I have read that 25 page thread of his on PlanetSide and it's filled with fibs. It started out as a game that doesn't exist because it doesn't have a server. As he gets people to belive his lies, he then goes a step further to say that this game is nothing but a Torque demo. Again, another lie. There's already enough original content in Lost Colony to send the Torque demo overboard. Now he's telling people that Lost Colony is a scam.
I read what he did to the Lost Colony page on Wikipedian today, setting yet another example of his sickness. It has to be a mental health issue because this guy is on just about every game board all day long talking bad about Lost Colony. Vashnar is a liar by sickness. This psychopath is out of control.

Why would a "staff member" and a dev at that I believe be so concerned about what one person is saying? Shoud'nt he be knee deep all up in his work at the moment.. You know getting all the bugs out and trying to get the game released since it was suppose to come out days ago....
Im starting to see why alot of development teams don't respond to ever little post and remain very active in the community.. If they did they would come of like this little unprofessional rectards(and yes I know thats spelled wrong).
