Are you sure you're an atheist? I mean, the word God or Creator can mean a lot of things.
Maybe you're just disgruntled in today's religious endeavor's. I can understand that. But don't write off the idea of God just because you don't like what religion is doing. You can still fill that spiritual need without following any organized group.
I consider myself to be agnostic, though I am somewhat cynical when it comes to things like the Bible. However, I don't have definite proof that there is no God-like entity out there (and no one has definite proof that there is) and I certainly don't have the answers to all the questions.
This is how I think... If God(s) can listen/see and judge...
Then God(s) are influenced by events/people/etc...
That means events/people/etc. has power over God(s)...
That means God(s) are weak, or has weaknesses just like anyone/anything else...
In other words, God(s) is/are not an all powerful supreme being...
I believe if there was a true creator, then the true creator would have to be a supreme being... In order to be truly supreme, the being would have to have no thoughts or beable to be influenced by anything, and therefore is much like a nonexistent being...
It doesn't mean lesser beings couldn't have created us, but I do not believe they are supreme beings if they are figures like those in the bible, egyptian, mayan, celtic culture or whatever...
I remain neutral, I'll just kick back and see what happens at the end of the road
Somehow I doubt that if God were to suddenly appear, he would allow you to jump the bandwagon at the last minute. It's like supporting Trinidad and Tobago at the world cup, then changing to Italy when Zizzi did some headbutting.
Damn my analogies are good.
I think that still better then picking a religion (be it christianity, or islam, whatever), believe in god or allah, then you die and suddenly anubis apears in front of you, saying "dude, you believed in the wrong god, Hellfire for you", or maybe Zeus saying "No man, you should have believed in ME! Now its too late, Pikachu, thunderbolt!"
thats not to say I agree with religions... shooting down evolution why the hell would god care when his supposed image is copied considering time is inrelivant, and about having one image...
I find it amazing that by 2020 first world countries will be competing to get immigrants.
That particular yes or no survey won't get you particularly accurate results, perhaps a better selection would be:
1.) judao-christian (Jewish, christian, Islamic) 2.) Other faiths (Hinduism, Wiccan, Buddism, Etc.) 3.) non doctrinated beliefs (personal beliefs about the world not following a predefined or named path) 4.) Atheism or similar

to those that said, "i dont wanna find out that i picked the wrong one." if you believe in God, you also have to believe that He would listen to you if you prayed to Him. Hes not going to lead you astray. people that follow a "book" and call it following God, dont know God. you have to have a personal relationship with Him to actually know Him. and to follow Him.

What if there are multiple Gods?
What if there are? by definition, God is THE supreme being.
if you believe in God, you also have to believe that He would listen to you if you prayed to Him.
why does one have to accept your assertion that god would have to hear your prayers? if someone is a deist, they don't have to believe that at all, right?

What if God has a God? Who do you worship?
id prolly worship the God of the Gods. how about you?

Sexist.
Nah, i'm just kidding but what if "God" is a chick?
I dont think my mind is able to comprehend whats beyond my 3d reality and maby we eventualy evolve to become our own gods or something more then what we are. With all the vastness of infinity and space I would not expect our little blue rock (Earth) to be as important as major religions portray it to be and what would it really matter to the bigger picture if Earth was swalowed in a black hole? If there seriously is a god that watches us as his children then man he has done a piss poor job or we have done a piss poor job in his image and with all the needless suffering worldwide I think the faith in god as a protector of man is a means of reassurance of importance.
That would be Zeus right? How confusing would that be? Just seems easier to make your own morals, set your own standards and live by them, and not by that of a 2000 year old bearded man.
i agree. invoking a god to explain something just seems so pointless to me. why add mystery to a situation that doesn't demand it?

so until you get alittle experience under your belt (you arent born with all knowledge), what, you just dont have morals and standards? so kids that take guns to school and kill classmates for fun are more enlightened because they dont follow morals and standards set by a "2000 year old bearded man"? and you do realize that the morals that you follow, you didnt come up with on your own? right? your environment, teachers, parents, and other outside influences helped to form those morals or lack thereof.
lol, oO and btw, i dont remember reading any morals that Zeus set forth, lol. could you give me some examples?

this is the problem with the idea of "god".
it means so many things to different people.
imo it's a near-meaningless concept.
