Vanguards shouldn't even be on the list. The only people that will be able to play it are those that have 3000 grand to throw around for a new super PC.
I voted for Vanguard but know that WAR will be more popular, but in my opinion Vanguard is a much better game. WAR just has a huge fanboi base and a lot of hype... just like WoW did.
Tried: Vanguard, UO, Rappelz, Archlord, RF Online, SWG, WAR, Ryzom, Anarchy Online, AC, APB, STO, Perfect World, Black Prophecy...
Played: EQ,EQII, Lineage, Lineage 2, GW, EVE Online, AoC, DoAC, iRO, AC2, WoW, SWTOR, Runes of Magic, Allods, Rift.. Currently Playing: Tera
I don't why I even voted for these polls. Bored I guess.
2007 will definitly be a good year for MMOs. Since the topic is comparing WAR and Vanguard, my opinion is that Vanguard and WAR will both do well. However, I like WAR because it seems to focus its game to fun while Vanguard seems to be more intense.
Vangaurd wants to be challenging. WAR wants to be a blast. I have no doubt that both games will be fun and challenging, just that my perception of what they wish to focus on is different. Vanguard wants to suck you in, keep you busy and follow the same line as Evercrack. Make yourself uber. WAR gives me the impression that you can jump in, bop around, hack others with the ultimate purpose of victory for your race over the enemies.
I have to say WAR. Vanguard looks like a much more challenging and in depth game. But I fear after playing WoW on and off for 2 years has made be lazy. I may no longer be willing and/or able to get into a game like Vanguard, but I'll give it a try anyway. But if Vanguard turns me off it's back to WoW until WAR comes out.
I will so give WAR a try. It looks to be a lot of fun. To me it looks like what a great WoW pvp game should be. And hopefully the endgame will be totally different than WoW w/ their raids and pvp that has no impacted on the world what so ever.
But anyway back on topic for a sec . If either game becomes the WoW killer I'll be totally shocked. I don't see WoW being taken down from the top spot of MMO subscribers for a few more years. They will start to lose subscribers in a couple of years imo. Especially if they wait 2 years or more between expansions. I think there will not be a game that has this large a share of the MMO market ever again. WoW will get taken off the top of the mountain once there are enough quality MMO's and different types of MMO's out there. People will eventually want to try something different. There will always be gamers that will stay with WoW for years and years. Just look at UO. People have been playing that game since it came out and will keep playing it for years to come. But there will not be enough of those type of gamers to keep WoW on top for ever.
But to pick a winner between WAR & Vanguard ... I have to go with WAR even though I would like to see Vanguard have more subscribers. A more in depth and challenging game should get some love And by all accounts that'll be Vanguard. Someone like me who has no wife or kids has a lot of spare time to devout to an MMO like Vanguard. But I don't count myself as the normal player out there. Most people have a wife & kids and many other more important responsibilities.
Here's hoping both turn out to be really great games!

Take the Magic: The Gathering 'What Color Are You?' Quiz.
because its PvP, RvR based. Which once people experience, will be hooked onto it. The mass-scaled consequential PvP is something WoW can not offer.
I miss DAoC
