Shouldn't mmo gamers in 2007 be ASHAMED of the shallow, non-challenging mmo that we have embraced??

"We really should be ashamed for supporting such mindless, un-challenging, all-reward, no risk eye candy today." - Zaxx

You really should speak for yourself.

We all have our own tastes in games, maybe you like staying up at 5 in the morning with your "legendary" horde of friends so you can have a story to tell to all of us...

But theres also plenty of people who can't afford to play the hardcore games. With Work, School, and just Life, it's not that easy.

To be honest, NONE of the MMORPGs have brought a challenge to the table because all MMORPGs have no harsh penalties or monsters can only be killed in the same fashion as boss from other games. Same applies to dungeons and quests, they are all the same and they do nothing different. The only way a game could be challenging is if it required the players to use more personal skill and require different methods of beating whatever challenge we were up against. However, the game that does this will become the next WoW because people who can't make it through the game will come to hate it.

I dunno if I'M ashamed... I hate the fact that every developer out there is only in it for the money though. I really miss Asheron's Call 1 :(. (Except CCP. EVE Online, at least when I left, was very challenging and very hard to master. - and I'd play that if my real life friends liked that type of gameplay)

I don't know if this was said before. PVE can't be challenging because there is no good AI, and this is a fact. Challenge commes from PvP when facing intelligent or skilled players (MMO = muliplayer). There is nothing more to understand. However I admit that fun can come from something that is not challenging, and some people like it, that's why WoW is successful (economically).

I'd be ashamed if I was one of the players who put in so many extra hours grinding AA's and raiding in Everquest.  That was a poorly designed game from start to finish.
