Doesn't even have SLI support yet does it?

I suppose 20 days is enough to put in the rest of the content and test it.. right?

Hell who am I kidding.  1 year before it gets sold to Sony.

    Doesnt support SLI ??

Geez I need to read the official forums and what not more... didnt know that.

Guess its one reason my butt kicking rig isnt impressing this game.

Nope, last I knew it didn't.  Pisses alot of people off.  Actually having SLI enabled reduced performance for some people.

    3rd Gen game still?

My money is on that too. It will be sold to SOE.

That was a dumb move by Sigil.

    3rd Gen game still?

Optimization for SLI, Muti-Core processors and x64 clients will be added post-launch.

    Taken from the beta forums.

On the other hand, this is great for people making MMOs, its like a list of what not to do.

Biggest flop of 07?  We shall have to wait and see.

Dude i am running the game with 20 fps on my X700 Radeon

Gotta play with the settings, gotta dig the ini file....

Anyway I am sure performance will even improve - since this is the meaning of  BETA.

Also diagnostic programs are running underneath....

I am not saying VSOH is gift from gods. But it is not as bad as many hype around

They've stated that without the debugging tools and whatnot, it will increase performance by about 10%

And some people consider 20 fps to be an insult.

20fps where also? In towns? out in the wilds with no one else around?  30+ man raids?

What game are you gonna bash in a couple months when VGSoH will probably do well if not better then any SOE game ?

    AoC ?  WAR ?   LOTRO ?  STO ?  GandH ?

whichever one that is released in a half finised, unpolished, bug ridden state.

5 bucks say VGSoH never sees the box sales or subs that EQII has now, even at release EQII did not suck half as bad as Vanguard does and EQII has came long way and is a better game now than it was at release

    I miss DAoC

Bash? On the contrary I'm looking forward to Gods and Heroes. If it sucks I'll complain about it too but I only complain about games I've actually played extensively, so I don't think that's bashing, just offering an informed opinion and spending 4+ months playing a game should entitle one to claiming that.

So on basiclly starting the 30th you have to start paying for beta.

    Have fun with that.

Who DIDN'T see the writing on the wall when Sigil made the SOE announcement. The publisher sets the launch date and milestones.

On the other hand, the early launch might actually be the best thing for the game, strategically speaking. They will want to get players invested in the game before all the other big titles hit. If VSoH doesn't go big, the doors will probably have to be closed. A game broken a bit on release is better than no game at all... yes?

As Jackdog said, I'll "bash" all of them if they drop the ball. I don't have any affinity to any game or developer. The only requisite I have is "Is the game fun for me?".

Hell, I'll go on record now, and say LotRO will be a flop, given the IP they're using. While using a fan favorite IP like Star Wars, Star Trek, or LotR seems like a great idea on paper, what with an already installed fan base and all, the reality is that most of those fans could give two shits about MMOs for one, and those that do are invariably disappointed by the devs take on the IP second.

As an aside, the jury is still out on whether Vanguard will do better than any of the rest of the SOE stable. Given the high system requirements, I'd say no, it won't.

Sigil seems to be very good at patching the game...  i dont think ti will be a problem no, might be a good idea, they also need money to dev it, and we will see a big change in 1 month or 2 after release

Well speaking for myself i'm glad its on its way it may sink but i doubt it somehow, the sheer weight of the SOE machine will keep it going whatever happens.

I love the game and it will only get better as it goes along there comes a time where you just have to let go and push it out whatever state its in,personally again i have had very few performance issues with the game and looks great on my PC but then again thats me and maybe i'm lucky in that respect.

The game itself? IMO theres still a lot of work needed to it of course but the core game is as solid as they come and given the ammount of pacthing Sigil has done over the last couple of weeks things should get under control quickly.

Another thing i'm sure about is that yes SOE will absorb Sigil it makes buisness sense for all concerned do i have worries about SOE? in a word no having seen first hand what they did to SWG and the ballsup that turned into you'd think i'd lost my mind but i'm lucky too to have seen the work they've done to EQ2 that game is now so polished that it puts all other MMO's to shame, well i hear you ask why are you going to Vanguard if EQ2 is good well its simple tbh i'm just a little jaded after 2 years of playing the game non stop and i'm damn certian that i'll go back to it within a reasonable ammount of time away from the game.

To all that where suckered in by the hype surrounding this game i'm sorry but you only have yourselves to blame if it's not turned out the way you'd hoped simply put this game has been a lesson that hopefully all future devs will take lessons from regarding peoples expectations and raising them to much.

  • RumorsRumors Member Posts: 161
Unless Smed is a genius.  Pushes the release knowing the hard core will play anyways, paying for more dev work to be done.  People play Burning Crusade for 6 or so months, and when they get bored, look for something else.  And there is Vanguard, polished and smooth as silk.

I wonder, will they tell us the number of box sales and subscription numbers, and will the subscription numbers count Station pass accounts or just Vanguard subs...

The only thing I would argue with you here is on WAR. Methinks it will be very much like WoW in gameplay/fluidity. One thing I always liked about Wow was the streamlined interface. It's fast, pretty darn bugfree and slick. WAR appears to be more like that IMHO.

I don't really care about the launch time. It's done when it's done. It all just depends on when each person will subscribe and start playing.

I never said that it would be SOE top game on release... but i will probably becomes down the road.

I agree with you in your 2nd paragraph.  As for your 1st one.  I think we all see that a good deal of people are into Vanguard as it is... So it is probably pleasing them.  Do you see them go on a campaign on other boards ?  Don't think so.

Wouldn't know, nor care, if they did. Aside from this one, the only other game I keep an eye on here is WAR. Occasionally, when I'm drinking/drunk, and feeling brave enough, I venture into the WoW section, to see what new bit of stupidity has cropped up. Lotta people bashing on WoW there. I imagine some are Vanguard fans. Might even be alts of some of the more outspoken VG fans. I'm sure all the games here have people that bash them for one reason or another. I've seen the same thing on music related forums. No idea why people do it. Some sort of psychological drive, I guess.

The same thing happened with EQ2, and in a week or two, once the game releases, a lot of it will die down. In the meantime, just do what I do, and poke fun at the stupid comments coming from both camps. ::::28::

thank you for saying this. I dont think all the idiots understand that SOE will buy this game and ruin it. Sure they are just hosting the game. Yea yea yea. But wait a year and see what SOE does to the game . All i gottra say is that all the devs and wig wigs at SOE are idiots.
  • RumorsRumors Member Posts: 161
I could see it.  Game fails to live up to its expectations, Brad panics.  Sells Sigil to SoE, remains as a figure head and asks that the sale not be made public knowledge.

At least SoE has the development team to hand a project this size to and have it done on time to a degree that is acceptable to the player base.  It may just be another cookie cutter fantasy MMO, but it would be halfway decent.
