What is the worst BIG BUDGET MMORPG ever in your opinion. Also if anyone knows the least successful big budget mmorpg in terms of dollars and cents, I would appreciate it.
MY OPINION: It's got to be Sims online...really not an mmorpg, but it's on this site, and it royally sucks....I played for about 3 hours when I realized that I was in a huge chat room with boring things to do, and boring people to do them with...Xaldor

Unfortunately as Staff I cannot have a negative opinion towards the products we promote, so i picture myself as an ewokk enchanter burning up some guardtower that took a week to build.

It may not be the worst, but SWG was definately the 'big budget' game I was most disappointed by
TSO - doesn't really count as a mmorpg IMHO, but if it did it would definately be The Worst.
Shadowbane - I might be wrong, but I don't think this couldn't really be called this a 'big budget'. Even then the game wasn't bad, just the implementation.

SWG is actually better than TSO or SB.
When the game was first released ( i bought it then) it was utter crap. But now it's starting to get better. I don't know wether it's a good idea to improve on something over the course time of a year, just to see it get trampled on with WoW and EQ2 though hehe.
I would definitley say that SWG was a pretty bad "big budget mmorpg". They released it a year (if not more) too early.

That is my vote, the whole "no NPC's in town" thing is about the stupidest idea I could imagine. They expect the entire economy to be player run. Just isn't gonna happen.
I used to be on the "AC2 sux" bandwagon. Being an AC1 player, I tried AC2 when it was first released and I thought it was horrible. However, recently I gave AC2 another chance and I think it is a much better game now. If you haven't played the trial anytime recently, you may want to give it another go. Try not continue to base your opinions on how bad the AC2 launch was (I agree it was bad then). If you actually played AC2 within the last couple months and continue to say it is crap, then odds are you are probably an AC1 player continuing to hold onto the idea that is supposed to be AC1 with better graphics. It is a completely different game, a different pace and far from a horrible game at this point in my opinion.
Am i the only person here who thinks Shadowbane was a good game?
As for my vote on this topic i gotta be a bit pre-emptive and say
WoW will suck bad.

I played AC2 in beta and was not overwhelmed, but I have talked to several AC2 players who are really pleased with the way the game is coming back. Turbine made some good moves by consolidating servers and offering the free download. Also, the split from Microsoft may have given Turbine the freedom they needed to really retool this title.
AC2 may well be the comeback kid of the genre. Population is reportedly creeping up and there is a good team onboard at Turbine dedicated to the success of the game.

I'd say TSO, I played it for a free trial.. I played for about 30 minutes, and I agree with everyone else this is HORRIBLE compared to the offline version of Sims. All it is, is a chat room with idiots running around.
As for SWG, I never played it, but from all the negative experiences I have read I'll say this one is pritty bad. I know there was a large audience waiting for this game to be released, but it failed horribly.
So I can't really choose, but I'll leave that up to you! Pick between the 2 games I said, as I'm sure they both equally suck.
BTW: This doesn't mean the game sucks for everyone, because there are a lot of games people say that suck and I liked. So everyone has to choose for themselves, it's just that these games are generally agreed on as horrible, big budget failures.
As for the person who said EQ2 is going to fail, I doubt it.. EQ1 is the best mmorpg, and considered godly by many. I doubt they'll screw up EQ2.

Definatly AC2 starting from release scandal over too mayn misconscepts and everlasting promises for me Turbine crowned this masterpiece worst ever simply cuz everything was there but not in its place.
Note: I pity AC1 getting AC2 engine they proved that they could not build content fast enough with that engine due extreme overhead in graphical design. I really interessed how they wana even convert existing ac1 into ac2 engine if they even could not make AC2 vaults(basic primary content) bug free upto (good year later)now.

I'm going to have to go with Shadowbane. It was in development forever, and then when it was finally released, and it was terrible. It was like the programmers took coding from Ultima Online, Diablo II, Everquest and threw them all in a folder and expected it to be good.
SOE has also been getting into the bad habit of releasing games months before they are really ready. I must say that I was rather disappointed with Planetside and Star Wars Galaxies at their releases. Planetside had extremely unbalanced system and other various problems that shouldn't have been in a released game. SWG seemed to lack a lot of content and was just missing that one thing that makes a game complete.
