I wont even go there,, all I can say is that I am against it and BS threads like this should be locked immediately because its always a debate on whether one condones the use of drugs or not .... get it?? DRUGS ARE ILLEGAL, LET THEM STAY ILLEGAL.
I know its illegal. I dont condone it. All I did was show a news article. This topic is about our government and a state looking at a bill.
This is not a drug topic. This is not a bullshit thread. If you want to live your life as an ostrich with your head in a hole, dont expect other people to do so. Times change, people change, laws change, so deal with it.
There also was a time when people thought tomatoes were poisonous up until the 1820's too.
I find it very odd that cigarets are much more dangerous to ones health then marjiuana yet marijuana is the illegal drug? I don't really care either way though if it was legal or not since never tried it and never will same with cigarets. I think as long as they have laws to make sure people are doing dumb things while high similar to alcholol laws then I wouldn't really care.
Marijuana affects your lungs the same way cigarettes do, and worse. Someone who smokes marijuana five times per week might be bringing in as many cancer-causing chemicals as someone who smokes one pack of cigarettes every day. People who smoke marijuana over a long period of time are also more likely to get chronic bronchitis or pneumonia than people who don't smoke.
It can make you see and hear things that aren't there or distort the way you see and hear. Using marijuana makes it harder for you to think and solve problems. Also, if you use marijuana, you can become very uncoordinated. Marijuana can also increase your heartbeat and make you feel paranoid. Basically, being high on marijuana makes you do stupid things that could either embarrass or hurt you. Teens who use marijuana and also play sports or perform in other school activities will notice that they don't do as well. And, they risk losing friends who don't approve of using marijuana (and remember, most teens don't!)
The above statements are true. So I highly doubt a bill would pass to allow this. I am not sure what country this is legal, but in the US, it may be years if it is, or never will.
Marijuana is legal in Ann Arbor, Michigan, but illegal in the State of Michigan. The way this works is simple, if the Ann Arbor police find you in posession, you will not be prosecuted. If the State Police do, you will be prosecuted under State law. I imagine that, if States start legailizing marijuana, it will work the same way. If the Feds find you in possession, you will be prosecuted, if the State does, nothing will happen. The question that remains is, if it is legal under State law, and illegal under local law, possession still might be subject to prosecution under the local law. It is not necessarily true that State law over rides local law.
well I think it will be legal and it NEVER had any effects over lungs like tobacco if it has any still it will be legal,or else the people who wanted legalized beer or drink it and think pot should not be legalized are hypocrites
My mind has changed so much. Yet I'm still acting like I'm the same.

As long as pot makes a majority of people lazy and stupid I don't think it will be legalized.
If it made people more alert and increased their IQ it would be mass produced and the human race would be evolving into higher beings instead of higher stoners.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
First off Cannibus does not it any way impede motor skills. Drug commercials are very misleading on that. They will say that one in every yadyada accidents are caused by people under the influence of drugs, then they will flash a joint. They never said what kind of drug specifically, nor did they say if they were also under the influence of alcohol. They did however, imply that it was marijuanas fault without actually saying it. This is because it in fact, does not. Less you are drunk and high of course, then you are totally done for. If mixed with alcohol you are in big trouble, but the only harmful affect it has is SHORT TERM memory loss. This isn't even always true, however. Weed also helps your vision, because it relaxes the veins in the back of your eyes.(that is why they give it to glacoma ((Sp?))patients) Prolonged use will help your eyesight. And though studies say thedrug does have cancer causing substances in it, THC (the part that gets you high for those of you who do not know) also has been linked to destroying and preventing abnormal growths. This would in theory, cancel (or close to it, given that either studies are correct) each other out. I would not say to start smoking pot to prevent cancer, though. Oh, and a guy in Holland did an experiment about driving high. You actually drive better, you put more distance in between yourself and other cars, you drive slower, and you are overall more focused on the road then if you were perfectly sober. Once again, not saying to get high so you can drive better, but it is a study.
Marijuana should be legalized and more powerful drugs should be illegal, yes because they kill people. Marijuana has never killed anyone and never will. You go to jail if you are in possesion of marijuana in the U.S, most of the time. The sentence for it is also considerably to harsh in comparison to what damage it can potentially even do. Cigarettes are worse then Marijuana, and so is alcohol.
Oh, and on addiction...There is no addictive substance in cannibus whatsoever. Anyone can get addicted to anything, but it's not a chemical addiction that affects your brain like nicotine, however. The only real reason I can see anyone can say that pot ruined there life is that it may have led them to using other drugs. I cannot comprehend this, but I can appreciate the point. For that reason, and that reason only...I understand justly why it is not legal.

I get pulled over and get busted out with weed at least once or twice a month. All the police do is take it, and give a warning. I've been caught with a half pound in my glove box before, and it just got taken. But I'm also a Marine, so maybe I get a little bit of a break. But even my friends have been caught and not charged.
Better hope they do not report it to your command. The UCMJ will not look the other way like the cops do.
I shoot for the curve... anything above that is gravy.

Marijuana can cause a dependency similar to an addiction. It can cause lung cancer just like tobbaco, it even contains more tar than tobbaco.

I have heard of it affecting your HR and affecting lungs since any smoke inhalation will do that but I have never heard of causing cancer since it has really no mutagens like the chemicals in cigerates. Would you mind showing me some places that have done the research on marijuana causing cancer. Also please don't take that as me saying prove it I am just in the medical field and try to keep up on things like this and sounds like if I didn't know something.

Just to let you in on something medical marijauna has kind of lost its worth ever since they came out with Marinol this is just the THC from marijuana and is used to treat glacouma also helps cancer patients with nausa and to increase appite.
look, everyone attacking pot better know it first hand or actually studied it. It ISN'T addictive and is not as bad for your lungs as tobacco. If you ask a doctor they can tell you what it does,or if you still want to say it's very bad for you then TRY it and then talk, okay. And finally-it ISN'T addictive. People don't continuasly use because they need to like heroine. They do it because it doesn't kill you and because it doesn't hurt you like other drugs-tobacco and alcohal included in the list that hurts you.
If someone smokes pot for a 5years straight and someone smokes something else for 5years straight the guy who smokes pot will be the healthiest.
My mind has changed so much. Yet I'm still acting like I'm the same.
Smoking pot does not impede motor skills? Right sure, tell that to all of the stoned friends that I have hung out with in the past...sorry but there is no way in hell that you're ever going to convince me that the hand eye coordination of someone high on marijuana is the same as someone who is sober.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.

Define dependency. I bet you could find more then a handful of members on this forum who would say they are "dependent" on MMOs. Yes, as I said marijuana does have similar substances that tobacco have that are linked to lung cancer. But, recent studies have also suggested that THC cancels out that affect. Also, most people would smoke less marijuana then they would smoke cigarettes, surely. Of course, there would be those who will, just like those who abuse alchohol or chainsmoke cigarettes. But even with your point, it still makes pot no worse then cigarettes or normal alcohol. And it would help the economy, create jobs and tax money to help pay for this pathetic excuse for a war.
I smoke it every day about 3-4 times usualy, I am pretty fit mostly because of diet but I can still run and do sports most ciggarette smokers couldnt. I been smoking 'cookies' for over 9 years and aside from a little forgetfulness I function just fine and in the summer time I do very hazardous work while buzzin on 'cookies' and never once hurt myself or anyone else. I also disagree with people saying it makes you stupid and clumsy, I do lots of reading and play my best BF2 while baked out of my tree, i went 47-2 in a round of BF2 the other day and I was HIGH AS HELL!! I also play better guitar and cook better food under the influence on MJ and food will never taste better but thats just me. Pot is not a bad thing at all imo and stuff like crack and heroin is so imo pot should be legal and those harder drugs should not. I have never done hard drugs like crack or heroin that shit is for people who want to waste their life and live as a junkie but all pot is to me is a muscle relaxing and mind enhancing plant.

Do you have any clue as to how pot works? All my friends will be like "man I'm way to high to drive" and they will anyways...and when they are driving they are like...hmm...this isn't impeding my skill at all. Did you know you can smoke a lot of pot and not get high at all? How it affects you depends on your mindset, and how you think it will affect you. This is why a lot of people don't get high their first time, because they don't know what to expect. If you try hard enough, you can stay sober after smoking quite a lot of it. You can talk to people, and if you want you can act totally sober, in fact I kind of hate the stereotype of stoners being dumb sounding idiots. A lot of the time the reason they act so stupid is just because they are having fun, it's like sugar, it doesn't make you hyper, half of it is in your head. Hand eye coordination is the same, maybe just slower... If there was going to be an accident that required swift movement to get out of on the road, yes I'd say it would affect the outcome, but a high person would not CAUSE an accident. Also, are you sure your friends wern't drunk or on some other drug. Becuase, often people drink when they get high too.

Over 50 percent of people will use marijuana sometime in their life.
While intoxication lasts two to three hours, the active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, can accumulate in fatty tissues, including the brain and testes. Adverse effects from marijuana use include decreased coordination, epithelial damage to the lungs, increased risk of infection, cardiovascular effects and cognitive deficits. Unexplained behavior changes, altered social relationships and poor performance at school or work can signify a drug problem. Treatment requires a combination of education, social support, drug monitoring and attention to comorbid medical and psychiatric conditions.

You know whats funny, I read through all that and a little bit down it says that a third of thc is eliminated through urine, and two thirds through poopin...well, your statement was misleading and implied that it stayed in your body permenantly. Also, the coordination thing it clearly states is only within 24 hours of use, not permenant. Look at any of your normal everyday prescription drugs you take and you'll find there are tons of side affects and reasons not to take them as well. And alcohol ruins your liver....so its still no worse.
Also I think its presumptuous of anyone to think that marijuana invokes laziness. Chances are a lot of users already were like that and they just decided to take it further my smoking all day. That shouldn't reflected all stoners as a whole, however.
I can see this from both sides of the argument, but when your living in a country with both alcohol and cigarettes being legal, and those same people that use both are arguing against cannibus...That is what I think is wrong. Marijuana could easily take the place of one or both in an alternate dimension, lol...Think about it, alcohol and pot users saying cigarettes shouldn't be legalized, or (more likely) pot smokers and cigarette users arguing alcohol legalization...All three are interchangeable and in my opinion not a big deal...well I think alcohol is probably the worse but thats not going anywhere.
However, using the government to deny someone the freedom to do with their body the way they see fit is even more dangerous.
It's my body. It's not my neighbors body, it's not my communities body, and it's not my governments body. So leave me alone and quit trying to deliver me from your sins!

you don't think any of thats true do you? Who here has tried pot and still think it's awful? Also, you can smoke pot and have good grades okay. And those "behavior changes" can hardly happen-I went through one, yes. But I came out a better person it (makes you nicer around people). Ever since that my brain became far more active. And pot doesn't require rehab at all. You can usually quit it at once.
My mind has changed so much. Yet I'm still acting like I'm the same.
forgot to mention-yes the coardnation does go away FASTER than alcohal and calms you down. If you are an angry person and don't want to be then this usually helps people like that.

The above statements are true. So I highly doubt a bill would pass to allow this. I am not sure what country this is legal, but in the US, it may be years if it is, or never will.
I have heard of it affecting your HR and affecting lungs since any smoke inhalation will do that but I have never heard of causing cancer since it has really no mutagens like the chemicals in cigerates. Would you mind showing me some places that have done the research on marijuana causing cancer. Also please don't take that as me saying prove it I am just in the medical field and try to keep up on things like this and sounds like if I didn't know something.look, everyone attacking pot better know it first hand or actually studied it.
Your argument is like a two legged dog with an eating disorder...weak and unbalanced.
And I invite everyone who thinks if cannabis is capable of destroying a society or other crap to go visit the netherlands.
