i dont think theres been a mmorpg thats given out more free trials than Eve either.
i'll never understand why this forum in particular is so Eve based. Is there something in the Eve registration that directs you to here? or did you get all your early free trials for Eve from mmorpg.com?
meanwhile WoW gets bashed everyday here, at one point the mod was moving all threads for EQ2 and WoW off the Pub and telling people who wanted to discuss them to take it to the mmorpg specific related forums. this was when they were first released too which was nuts.
and how can a game that dominates the U.S. market and overseas by far never ever get ranked while mmorpg's with 1/100th its playerbase do? even free ones?
just crazyness. never seen another site like this one which leads me to believe theres more to this based on advertising or some other sham.
More likely its because the people who come here prefer more traditionall online games like Everquest for example and eve.
After all EvE hardly has any competition in its area of gaming [which is the Space based sci-fi trading mmorpg].
Concerning wow its well known it has its problems and is basically just a copy of all thats gone before reworked.
Community is as mature as ever. :-)

I will try to explain
Most of people at my job play WoW, none of them tried any other MMOs, they dont serch for other MMO, or look at web sites to find others or to know about other MMO´s, strange but true. They are hapy with it. It is probably ignorance because they didnt tried other games and they think that one is the best and the first MMO around, who knows.
EQ2 had many problems at relese, and it is a SOE product, if you know wath hapend to SWG and half done expansions in EQ, you will understand why many people will hate this games, or are afraid to play them.
NCsoft games lack in really good content, CoX,GW. Lineage1 and 2 are very good games but not for US/Eu people, we usualy dont like grind and it made a bad reputation to thous games.
DAoC since ToA is dying, mityc dont care about it only cares about War
UO same has DAoC, maybe it will change with grafic updates, but they lost their comunity with bad expansions not because of bad grafics.EA also screwed wid E&B.
So what do we have?
EVE
CCP talks to their costumers, their free expansions dont destroy their game, and is a game we can play for a long time. I am not sayng WoW is a childs game but i cant imagine myself playng that game wen i have 40+ years old, i see EVE has an adult game, hard to accomplish, a game to use my brain.
At MMORPG.com you will find many veterans that are tired of SOE,EA,Mityc,turbine mistakes and GREEDY minds, so EVE seems the best place to be for many.
PS. I am not sayng EVE is the best game around, i dont know, and i am looking for that game also.
PS2. Sorry for my bad english
PS3. EVE dont have cartoons that make their community seem bad,immature and childish. (Strange WoW players loved that south park episode)

I'm not sure if you've noticed this, but 9 out of 10 people in the MMOG genre are idiots.
This site is frequented by people who are in-between MMO's much more often than those who are playing. because WoW as the largest population base, it has the largest amount of rejects, therefore, there voice is loudest on a site consisting (largly) of refugee's or vets. that's all. nothing more to it.
MMORPG is i think noted on EVE's site, because of their several awards they try to flaunt. good for them

EVE is fantastic game
But I dont think , it has anything to do with its graphic.
Presenting it as video , doesnt represent this game at all. It looks like every other space sim out there. Nothing more.
I felt that pictures of community were much more convincing...because EVE is just that - community

I can see the good things in games, im not that tipe of guy that bash all games that i am not playng.

DDO- Best quests, no grind
DAoC-Best PvP (8vs8)
L2-Best PvP(large skale) castle siege,politics
EVE- Best sand Box
EQ´s - Best fantasy world and pve

WOW is the best mmorpg, it keeps 8 million people happy, they dont want to look for another mmorpg. While everyone else here is looking for a new one because no other mmorpg (maybe EVE) works :P
So tbh:
Fantasy: WOW
sci fi: EVE
V:SoH - Just the same old, i dont understan why to make a game that dont bring nothing new to gameplay (dont tell me housings and flyng mounts are inovation), this game is made to canibalize other games just it. I still remember wen Sigil devs told they are expecting to have 300k-500k subs. I doubt they can get 100k .
But is just me.
AO - best Sci-Fi world
Start up EvE.
Start Training skill.
Start Travelplans.
Go to work.
Get home 9 hours later and wait a couple of hours more for the travel to stop.
Buy some crap for your money.
Talk with your corp about how cool EvE is.
Fight some bandits by massing your attack keys, hull repair, shield repair and make sure the computer keeps the optimal distance for you.
Go to bed.
That's my opinion at least.

WHo knows though, maybe when I'm bored of WoW or whatever, I'll come to EvE and have a relaxing experience. But as it looks now, I don't think EvE will be the game for me. Good game though.

I just play MMo's.
Total time played: 9125 Days, 21 Hours, 29 Minutes, 27 Seconds
Time played this level: 39 Days, 1 Hour, 24 Minutes, 5 Seconds
The "problem" with Eve is that you can do anything you want, you're not *told* to do anything. You don't *have* to do any one thing to progress like in most mmo's where you *have* to farm mobs or you *have* to do missions to get that next level.
I played it for months and never hauled *one* batch of ore. I never did *one* traderun. I never did *one* mission more than I wanted. I pvp'ed, because that's what I find the most fun, and Eve has excellent pvp.
Eve's pvp allows you to earn money, which is all you need in order to progress in both skills and (obviously) upgrades.
Yet, people say that eve sucks because "all there is to do is mine", "all you can do in Eve is do traderuns", "I played eve for a week and all I did was fedex missions", "eve has the biggest grind, all I did was kill rats the entire time".
This WoW mentality needs to stop. People need to understand that some of us enjoy setting our own goals and making our own achievements, rather than following a treaded path of missions.

Yes EVE isnt the traditional MMORPG.
Some people dont like sand boxes.
Or space teme.
EVE dont guive you an objective, you must chose yours, others dont like that.
Sommone posted correctly, that you just do grind mining, or missions if you want, you dont need to do that, you can pvp, and grow your avatar just doing that, you can infiltrate in a corp and steal their money, you can craft, or buy sheep and sell expencive.You can be a mercenary,bonty hunter... EVE let you do wath you want.
If you find your own way to get money you dont have to do other things that you think that are boring.
