from what I read on the new site for Sword of the new world, It says there will be a boxed version so we may see something in the vain of GW it's on the bottom under features at http://www.swordofthenewworld.com/
/shrug Like I said, I'll wait and see whats in the US version. Though the actual article says that there will be a free trial along side a boxed version with more content. I'm too much of a tightwad to do any microtransaction silliness. You asked why I don't like them, and I told you. Even 1% is going to be irksome, though I don't understand why anyone would pay for a 1% boost either.
The 1% he was mentioning to the CHANCE that the game would feature a game breaking item in the item mall. Simply put, it's not happening, simple as that. Frankly though, you are right on one thing, item mall's outreach is a lot different in far east countries than in western countries. In korea for instance, since many people rely on internet cafe's for their gaming, the cafe owners will be allow them to purchase the consumables they want without the need of credit cards, so there in lies the difference between western gamers and eastern gamers. Everything is designed so the cafe owners will be the one purchasing the consumables, and then the players just buy it off the internet cafe owner with cash, rather than a credit card (I mean they could if they wanted to, but the main reason item mall's don't take off in the western areas is because their target audience frankly doesn't have access to online funds through themselves).
Now that I rambled on, let me get to my main point. An item mall won't be their main source of revenue with a major MMO like this one. If it was some no name MMO, yea an item mall would be fine, because they wouldn't need to pay much for the licensing fee. With a big name MMO like GE, I imagine k2 had to pay some big bucks for the licensing fee, so if the item mall isn't profitable enough (which I imagine will happen), they will need to find another source of income, and that's when you have stuff such as premium boxed content or free2play + pay2play options.
And exactly why couldn't they keep it's original name?
Actually the game's full name is "Sword of the Name World: Granado Espada". I believe Granado Espada is the name of the continent that this game takes place in. And if you remember correctly the "first person" to "discover" "The new world" was sponsored by spain in some way. The only difference from the new world he discovered and this new world is the 10 foot tall dawn knights with 6 feet in length swords, and warlocks, and mages, and some other small differences.

Nah, these warlocks and mages existed, they just decided to keep it a secret from us. One day, the abandoned tribe of knights with 6 ft swords will come out of nowhere, and rule over the world once again. Better watch out for that day.
