What's the point in playing an mmorpg if your forced to play on servers that serve a few countries? I have played a ton of mmorpgs and made friends with people from eygpt,japan,england, and dozens of other countries. It's been ages since i played wow and i don't know what they have been doing, but this goes against the whole concept of being able to play and meet with people that you wouldn't otherwise.
I know it sux to have restrictions, but its the catch to have a slightly better security, at the expence of a piece of your freedom. They try to control the botter/farmer problem, but in the process innocent people get hurt becuase of the limitations they pose on your freedom in their game. Sux, I know, its a necessary evil.
Anybody who is willing to give up any freedom for security deserves niether -- i believe that was Franklin.There should be a balance between the two, while having freedom is great, having absolute freedom and no security is as bad as having no freedom and absolute security. No security is called anarchy, where everyone does anything they want, that doesnt work.
Just becuase some guy said something 2 centuries ago doesnt mean we have to follow that blindly.
No see #1, you're missing the point, i'm not following anything blindly, it just applies to this particular situation well.
#2, it's not about anarchy or solitary confinement, it's not about giving up your freedom and getting security, it's about giving up your freedom to get security.
He gave up his freedom, and there's still an unreal amount of botters/farmers in the game, he just got banned =D
Although since it was a violation of a EULA and not a misban, the quote carries less weight.
i try not to follow things blindly, i didn't quote him because i worship him, i quoted him because I believe in crediting people with their quotes when i use them O.o... i dunno, that's just how my moral code is =/
