It looks horrible... cartoonish... flmbouyant... colourful... and gay.... geez, stop it already you WoW mongrels, you are disillusioned people who keeps on saying "Wow has the best graphics in teh whole uber world"... I can forgive you that if you said those words back in 1997... its 2007... 10 years after... Geez stupid idiots who dont even know what real graphics is all about.... I can forgive you because Im sure your Computers are full of crap.

However... I can say that Gameplay doesnt suck.. not even good... Just Fun...

Albeit the Art looks decent, and i use the word decent for lack of a better word to describe nominal, the concept of  "Tiered Armour Sets" is both henious and sad. I thought i looked good when I was the only one wih Tier 1 (way back in the day) only to have everyone of the same class looking exactly like me in a matter of weeks. At the very least WoW could offer some diversity, I mean if the Teir sets are the crowning acheivement of your class, the very least they could do is allow you to alter the armour in color or minor graphic expanse. Play long enough and you feel like your in a walmart that only sells 1 type of shirt and pants, soon everyone looks the same and you blend like a raindrop in a river. Who really wants to look like every other person, variety is the spice of life, and the only flavor wow has is vanilla.

Don't worry about it. You never had a chance against me anyway.

While, yes, I agree WoW has some pretty cool looking armor... I think Final Fantasy XI also has really good looking armor, as well. Even the level 1 armor in FFXI looks sweet. :)

It looks pretty well...umm...ok, it looks a little 'gay' IMO. Fit for a world full of fairies and butterflies, oh wait, my bad.

    Continue.

I don’t care for WoW armor at all. Even taken as “cartoony” it’s bad. Overall lineage has the best armor IMO. EQ2 needs to loosen up a bit, but on occasion they get it right like this Shadowknigt set.

It all looks good to me, to an extent anyway. For me personally the WoW armor looks by far the least attractive but, isn't all forms of art based, whether good or bad, on what the individual person likes or dislikes? So, really whats the point here?

I can live with that :)

A few people have suggested that what WoW artists did was the maximum possible because the "gfx" or cartoon-like graphics throughout the game limited what they could do with the armor. But that is not true. The only limitation the artists had were their own creative skills and, probably, an art production manager whose priority was to pop out the work like loaves of Wonder Bread. Blizzard can scam large like that because their fanboy/girl base is so large and well-trained. All the PR Department has to do is announce what cutting-edge is suppose to look like this week and suddenly milions of players are reciting the text of the press releases like school children in George Orwell's novel 1984.

I played WoW but only up to level 50.  I have seen my brother play it every night for months now though, and it seems to me that most players like to wear various pieces of armor instead of sticking with armor sets that actually match in color ect...  So usually the characters are wearing various armor pieces that overlap and dont match at all...  Along with the cartoony/colorful look and the outragous size of boots and shoulder pads...  The characters end up looking a bit too much like clowns for my tastes.

I have never been much for the way armor looks anyways, the scenery has always been more important to me.  And WoW does have some pretty views in it   It doesnt seem like the sort of thing that threads should be created about in the pub board, either way.

I think the best looking armor has Lineage2. No doubt about it. WoW armor look...cartonish, like the whole style. But then it is Warcraft style that cartoonisch look. Not my taste at all

Meh some WoW armour has its appeal but alot of its ugly, alot of it doesn't seem to fit in the setting, alot of it only looks good on one race or model but nothing else and most of its just plain stupid.

Its all irrelevant because the chances of you actualy being effective in a matching set of armour is about 0.1% So you end up running around looking like you let a drugged up blind man choose your gear with the intention of making you look like as stupid as you possibly can.

Me and my guild have always had the theory that the guy who designed the armor in WoW probably got fired from Capcom for coming up with bad boss ideas for the Megaman series.   Seriously, wtf are they thinking?   Every tier of armor gets stupider looking then the one before it.   Your thousands of hours of raiding will be rewarded by making you look likie a Power Rangers villian.  I guess that appeals to kids though so....

If you like cartoony looking armor then I guess it is the best looking one.   Actually, it looks over exaggerated in it's design.  With all the many long spikes which aren't for any usefullness other then show.  Daggers way up in it's shoulders, again very much not at all beneficial to the wearer as it would be extremely hard to pull them out being its way up the shoulder and in an awkward position.

If you're going to design something such as armor, then do it with features that will be used and used correctly, not like these armors with all those ridiculous designs that have no use whatsoever.

I guess its ok for the type of game WoW is,  boring and outdated with nothing but more of the same.

Hey Paragus,  Power Rangers huh?  Funny and oh so true.

They're just adding a whole lot of nothing to the armor in it's design.

How the armor looks is mainly dependant on the style you think looks good. If you prefer more realistic armor, then WoW armor probably doesn't look all that hot. Personally, I don't care either way usually as long as the artwork is done right. Personally my gripe with WoW armor is it is the end all be all of the game. Your character is your armor, nothing more.

So tell what makes each of those armor so unique? They all look the same except a few changed details like shoulders etc, and a different texture. If you like the graphic style in Wow is up to you, but you can't denie that there is variety and that the different set's do not similar to each other, at all. Most other mmo seem to have the same base armor model, and then they just add a different texture to it. Asian mmo's specially, they are terrible in terms of this. Seriously, if you prefer a Asian mmo over a western one in terms of armor, your certainly not looking for something unique for your character.
Asian MMOs have very different mindset. They generally focus on the character and teamwork rather than individuals and making the game look like a fashion show. Personally, I don't play so I can mix and match pretty armor. I want armor that looks nice, but is functional. Something I'll actually want to use. If you think about it, WoW is not much better than an Asian MMO, simply because in the end, everyone looks the same in their tier 300 or whatever set they're up to now. The only time you get variety is during the stages where you're wearing a mixture of anything you happen to find laying around.

World of waracraft armor is great if you like fantasy looking stuff.... not true about .01% of getting these sets i have 3 full sets to pick from thank you.  wow by far isnt the best looking when you look at the other realistic higher rendering and everything else. But wow is very successful with what they got it runs smooth on low speced computers unlike other games to get that more realistic armor to look pretty.

in some ways they r the best for a larger user base.

but us lucky ones with sli and dual core and shit can enjoy the higher end stuff that beats wow's ass

...in which case I assume you haven't gone outside since the game launched, as it's the only way that's possible with their stupid raid system.

DAoC epic armor as you'd call it and their DF weapons are much cooler than anything Blizz could come up with.

Nonsense, WOW doesn't really offer any way to customize your character...other than to mix/match armor sets. Otherwise, you see one Tier 5 gnome Warlock, you've seen them all (other than to allow for racial differences in size of course). And some epics sets look damn dumb, my Tier 2 Druid had a set of moose antlers on his helm that were so silly it was fun to wear them because of it.

Lineage 2 armors have much more detail, and few games permit the color customization of DAOC.

Besides...worrying about how your good your armor looks (instead of its fighting stats) is sort of "metro" in my book, but whatever....
