Now I'm not talking about trolls who made up lies about Vanguard just to bash it. But we Vanguard fans owe a debt of gratitude to those who did have an honest opinion and criticized Vanguard vocally.
The state of the game now is amazing. I don't get any hitching anymore, my quests ALL work, I could go on and on but you get the point. The game is looking fantastic! Those people who made a point of criticizing the state of the open beta really did help light a fire under the devs butts. I have never seen a game this much improved....ever.
So before you start making anymore threads that say "Nana look at Vanguard now" or calling people who criticized Vanguard cry babies and look how awesome it is now you were all wrong, appreciate the part they played in really scaring the devs into working their asses off to get Vanguard in the delightful condition it is today.
Thanks guys, you really did help. I for one appreciate it.

And I don't want to hear anything about "I don't believe in vampires" because *I* don't believe in vampires, but I believe in my own two eyes, and what *I* saw is ******* vampires! "
Haha!
Serious death penalties makes every close call an adrenaline rush, and every minor achievement a major victory. This alternative rule-set should be in all MMORPGs.

The quests are not all working. As of yesterday, I have still been having problems with bugs in some of the quests.
"You are unable to accept to accept this quest." is one from yesterday. I also found out that if you have more than one of the Kojani Jin Beast Hunter quests at a time, the game will take your item without finishing the quest. I did them three times before figuring that out.
That being said, I am having a good time with the game.

I (and I think a lot of other people) are having very serious problems with FPS. I am getting a max of 10 FPS.
I have gone thorugh the settings and turned all the video options down, but with everything turned off I get maybe 11 FPS.
Granted my machine is a bit dated - 1 AMD 1.9 GHZ 2 Gig Memory with ATi Radedon 9600 256 Meg memory, but it should be getting some decent FPS.
P.S. Morpin. Check your processes to see if you are running a whole load of crap
30 mintues or less, or you get ganked for free
But there still a ton left to do, so I would stop complaining yet, the game isn't all there yet...

I did, and I must say I'm impressed as heck. All the hitching and crappy performance basically disappeared in the last couple of weeks.
I run a 2 year old P4 3.4 ghz, 1.5 gig ram and geforce 6800 - and I run quite well at Balanced resolution, 1024x768.
Looks like I may have found the mmorpg 'home' I've been waiting for since EQ1. We'll see once I get some more levels!
Not trying to criticize or start a flamewar but if VG:SoH is a 3rd gen game then the online gaming industry is in a lot of trouble. After a 6 hour preorder download and patch operation, I've been playing this game for two days. This game just doesn't cut it. There's nothing groundbreaking or earth shattering about it. It's all been done before and in most cases a lot better. I understand launch day bugs and glitches but some of the things I've seen in this game are absolutely unacceptable. My system meets or exceeds the recommended requirements and yet it is laggy beyond belief. I've run EQ2 on balanced or higher settings and it ran smooth as silk. This game is choppy even on high performance with sound turned off. As if that wasn't enough the starting area that I'm in has white flickering with numbers in the background. How am I supposed to play like that? It's a bug and I'm sure it will get fixed but my point is that it should not have been there in the first place. They need test servers and QA before they start throwing out patches.
The absolute worst thing is that when I had a problem, I had to go to half a dozen different web sites to try to get an answer. SOE tech support is basically worthless. It's a community self help board. I've been there and I haven't read one problem that a TSR actually solved without going through the whole deal of "it's your system", "it's your drivers" or "we'll it report to development". For the $50 I paid for the program and Sigil's expectation that I will continue to pay and play, I expect way more than that. This game really excited me until I started playing it. Say what you want about Blizzard and WoW but they got their act together and when there are problems they seem to jump right on them. Not even having official forums to get information doesn't bode well for this game. I wish Sigil all the best and hope this game does well. They got my $50 but they won't be getting anymore. I expected a polished game. What I found was a game with problems that will be fixed after they start charging that subscription rate. That's unacceptable.
What is your system? I had the choppy problem before pre-release but now mine plays perfectly. The 'bug' you speak of with the white flickering is something I have not experienced, so that doesn't sound like a bug. Also, there are plenty of things in Vanguard that haven't been done before but you might need to play for more than 2 days to experience them. At any rate I wish you well.

Ask someone with the collectors edition for a buddy key. They wiped out the lag and hitching when they removed the debuggin code for the release version. You have never seen a game so improved in your life I assure you.
They've really improved the game performance since open beta. FPS never was my issue before, since I always get over 50 fps. But it was more about studdering, and how it was really bad every step during open beta. Now, whatever they did, I don't feel the studdering at all. If I come upon a large city, I get that second lag that I feel when entering Ironforge or other large cities in other MMO's. So it's nothing new and I'm very very happy with the improvement they've made. I don't care what they did to the game really, I'm just glad they really improved it like they said they would.
I played all weekend long, and yes while the servers got taken down for looong patch saturday night, I was glad because I played all Saturday and needed a break lol Anyways, the game is really addicting, and it's fun on all 3 spheres (adventure, crafting, and diplomacy). So far it's everything I've asked for, big kudos to Sigil for pulling this off. I was skeptical during open beta because we all knew they ran out of time and had to rush. But within 3 weeks of daily patches they've done amazing things to the game. It's not perfect, yes there are launch bugs & issues, but I've enjoyed every minute of it since I started playing last Friday.

As one who critizied the game often enough, I thank you for your thanks. Rest assured I will help VG much further in keeping critcizing every inch that isnt working to help you further. Oh no... that is the least I can do for you. ^^
