Oh and. He had valid complaints... VERY vailid Sorry if my former post reflected otherwise... WHAT I MEANT to say was he didn't have valid arguments of why NOT to buy the game theres a big difference.
A complaint is "I don't like the game because of bugs"
An argument is " I do not like the game because of bugs. Here are some of those bugs and how they effectivly made it hard for me to enjoy this game"
And i know it's mine... and I am NOT saying he has to post LIKE me... i'm saying. THATS an example of giving both sides of the story.. and giving people reasons to not buy the game if THATS what they don't like. IF you are telling people what to do you are already off to a bad start. Give reasons without saying THIS GAME SUCKS DON"T TRY IT.
And i know it's mine... and I am NOT saying he has to post LIKE me... i'm saying. If he doesn't like the game, and he doesn't think people should spend the money on it, then he's not obligated to show both sides. It's his opinion, and he's entitled to it, even if it doesn't fit with your neat little standard of what constitutes a proper post about Vanguard. He gave his reasons in his post, and that should be enough.
If, however, he was writing a review for a gamesite, or some other publication, then you might have a point. But since this is a public forum, where people are allowed to post both positive and negative experiences with the game, then it just comes across like you're just whining about the OP saying something you didn't like.
I have steering problems when in a city, otherwise I haven't any. I take it that this is from code that hasn't been optimized.
2) Do monsters disappear?
Yes, sometimes they do and its a pain the neck. However, it can be remedied by moving forward or backward one step.
3) Inconsistent combat?
I do not think so. I wish there were better sounds/animations when weaknesses/exploits are found, but otherwise once you get to around level 10 you have quite a few abilities in your arsenal.
4) Animation issues?
I wish there were more animations.
5) In-game graphics are ok?
In-game graphics are great, however optimization is needed badly.
6) Nothing positive in this game?
There's a lot of positives in this game. I enjoy the gameplay. Disciples and Bloodmages are pretty unique to this game. The rest of the classes have been seen before in another game with similar abilities.
I especially love Diplomacy and I hear crafters stating that its "hard and time-consuming" which I often associate with 'I can't get to max levels in first week or I can't watch tv and make masterpieces'.
7) Potential?
The game still has a ton of potential. If they spent a few weeks doing nothing but code optimization to increase performance, I'd be satisfied. There are a few lingering class bugs, but nothing that won't allow you to advance in the game.
8) Save your hard earned bucks?
I think everyone should give Vanguard a try. Its worth it in my opinion, however I do believe they released too early. If you are skeptical, wait a month before trying the game. By then, the game should be in good shape. Performance has already seen increases since Beta5 and a lot has been improved questwise.
I don't mind people coming into the forums and saying they like this or hate that, but it really pisses me off when they lie to make a point. To say you had to fight to stear your character is a bold face lie. To the OP: Put down the crack pipe and ease up off the Jack before trying to play a game. I think you'll find them much easier to move around in if your not drunk and high.
Actually, just a point of order... I'm enjoying the game, but I have experienced this issue about having to "fight" to control my character while moving. Its the strangest thing... I move the mouse...the cursor crosses the screen...but the character doesn't turn. Seems that I need to "very slowly" drag the mouse across the screen and then it will turn. (I usually just supplement turning with key presses)
Since it happens to me mostly in a group situation, and only happens when I quickly drag my mouse across the screen I'm going to assume that its some sort of game lag caused the the relative weakness of my gaming platform. (my Dell XPS Inspiron Laptop isn't quite up to snuff for this game)

This isn't a complaint, it is a rant/troll. A complaint would be to say he didn't like the game and was upsate. A rant/troll tells people that they shouldn't buy the game and no one else should get it either.
Really? Where did the OP say that other people don't like the game? I missed that part. Maybe that's the problem. Maybe when you guys see a post that says the game is bad, you FEEL like someone is telling you that you don't like the game, and you get defensive. Is that what it is? Do you feel like his opinion is somehow interfering with your ability to like the game?
BTW, you didn't answer my question. Which ones were not valid?
"the in game graphics are ok, but even with my high spec pc. . ." - He has not given any information about what kind of high end pc he is running. . .
"it had such potential" - The game is not over, "it had such potential" is something you would say when a game wasn't released or when the game didn't live up to your own personal standards, are his standards the basis for which we use to play games?
"its like an open beta, having said that ive played better open beta" - he doesn't give anything on any of it. . .
"its brocken unfinished and unpolished" - i think that speaks for itself, after reviewing his list of games that are better, and his open betas. . .I can understand what he means. .
He isn't validating his opinion with any information. . .it isn't me that has to do it, it is he that hasn't validated it.

It's quite interesting reading these posts. I sense a lot of fear. Those that enjoy the game despite it's problems are afraid those that don't enjoy the game because of these same problems will tank the game. Perhaps there is a fear that the same unchecked hatred that plagues SWG to this day will engulf Vanguard. And perhaps there is just a bit of guilt by those who, having disparaged SWG, now find their beloved game under the same attack.
Then again, maybe I'm just imagining things.

Alright fellas, then riddle me this.... How long does one have to play to know the game isn't to their liking?
I can listen to a song and in less than ten seconds I know I don't like...
I can watch a TV show and in less then two minutes know I don't like...
I can start a book and in less than a chapter I know it won't hold my interest...
And I know the same holds true for most people.
So this crap about "give it time it will grow on ya" is just BS
Songs are a few minutes long - there's usually not a ton of stuff to discover or interact with in one after 30 seconds. (Your example of 10 is a little harsh, as intro's can last quite some time before changing). Not true with every song, of course.
Again, you don't have to interact with TV shows, which are generally a half hour or hour, less with commercials.
Hmm, now books can change a lot after one chapter, you really should give the book a little more time.
Same with a game. How about playing for the free month, then deciding? Yeah, I realize that means you have to buy the game, but within a month, you can get a halfway decent opinion of a game the size of vanguard. If you can get the free 10 day trial, that wouldn't be too bad barring you played quite a lot in those ten days. You asked for an answer, and that's my opinion.
He isn't validating his opinion with any information. . .it isn't me that has to do it, it is he that hasn't validated it.
And why, exactly, does he have to "validate" his opinion at all? He had a negative experience playing the game, and he was cautioning others against the game based on that.
There is no reason for the OP to have to jump through all sorts of hoops for the Vanguard fanbois so that his opinion "means something". He's entitled to speak his piece, since it's not an affiliate fansite, but rather an outside forum.
It's not that it's just i think alot of people are tired of hearing the SAME thing day in and day out.
Every day some guy posts about how the game sucks because his pc can't run it and some mobs disapear.
Now the guy isn't wrong for posting it because if thats how he feels fine. But if he's telling people DON"T EVEN TRY this game because of it. He's openeing himself up to people defending it albeit malicfully.
The MAJOR problem with vanguard is that unfortunatly it's MAJOR competitor is one thats been out already for 2 years. So it's getting compared to a game which has had it's polishing already.
The other problem is Vanguard has a very DEDICATED (sometimes INSANELY so) fanbase and some people take thse posts as personal attacks on THEIR game. This isn't right but neither is THE SAME dedicated hatred of some people who sit on these forums and talk bad in every GOOD post that comes around about the game. neither side is doing anyone any good.
FOR EXAMPLE. the OP himself has posted pretty much the exact same thing 3 times... those are his only 3 posts... it's like he came here JUST to TRY to hurt sales...
He isn't validating his opinion with any information. . .it isn't me that has to do it, it is he that hasn't validated it.

Actually, it was a complaint. Sorry, he didn't validate any of his complaints, he never posted any specs, he never posted that he tried to remedy that which would be remedied. . .all he did was complain and people talked about it. He was the one with the complain, we are the ones with the opinion.
Perhaps his complaint would mean something if he gave anything other than bitching?

If he was still interested in playing Vanguard, then you might have a point. However, it seems like he gave the game a chance, encountered more problems than he was willing to put up with for a game that you have to pay to play, and he registered his thoughts on said game.
Not everyone is willing to go and jump through all sorts of system tweaks in order to get one specific game to work, especially if their system runs every other game that they play just fine. Only someone with a vested interest in seeing the game succeed would go through all that.
Some users, however, are much less forgiving. Either the game works, or it doesn't. Either it's polished and ready for release, or it's not. For the OP, Vanguard clearly wasn't his game, and he expressed an opinion about it. Period.

The opposite could be said as well. People are flaming the game because they are afraid that it will succeed. People who don't have the systems to run it or don't want to play a complex MMO could be upset and afraid that new games will follow this path as well.
I have been playing for a few days myself. I have played pretty much every p2p MMO since UO. My favorites were Asheron's Call (3.5 years played), Dark Age of Camelot (2.5 years played), and WoW (about 1.5 years played). I will say that WoW really dumbed down the system imo. I had forgetten the thrill of acutally being worried if my character dies. The first time I had to run away from some mobs, because I pulled 2 by accident was fun. Does Vanguard have problems? Of course it does. There is a lot of optimization that needs to be done to the coding and to the world. It has a ton of potential though. Is it the best MMO out there? Well that is debatable, IMO its the most fun MMO currently on the market.
The game runs fine on my PC which is by no means high end. I built my whole system for less then $1,000. I am running an AMD 64 X2 4200+ with 2 gigs of DDR2 800 Ram and 2 nVidia eVGA 7600GT 256MB graphics cards in an SLI setup. I don't get any of the lag that the OP was talking about (and as far as I know the game isn't optimized yet to use a SLI setup, which means I might as well be running one graphics card). I actually run the game on balanced with some of the settings set higher (like viewing distance, grass, etc) and I get 58-60 FPS out fightning. In the largest city I have been in so far I get around 45 FPS. Which imo is perfectly fine. On a side note I logged into WoW just to see how it would run on my new system and I was getting 78-80 FPS in Honor Hold in the Outlands. Which was with every setting maxed and also continued to stay at 78 while I was fighting.
Once again everything in this post is my opinion. Would I recommend the game to friends? Yes I have and will continue to recommend it. Do I think it is the best MMO ever? No, I personally think DAoC with an updated UI, a little smoother graphics (mainly the characters feel jerky when they move), and a larger population would be the best MMO. Of course I might get that if WAR is good.
Currently playing: LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

I don't have a top end system but the game is running great, the only time i know of when you do not need to do anything to your video card general settings is when you are playing an older game. . .

I completely agree, people try this game on very poor hardware and compare it to games that have been released and polished for two years.
They dont remember what thoses games were like back then and believe me even the most polished of games had major issues at release.
Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS) Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve

This is not entirely true. The way key-bound turning and mouse turning interact is not smooth at all. I found controlling my character very frustrating until I unbound the turn keys and rebound the strafe keys in there place.

But when someone is bashing the game on performance problems alone , Yet not giving any detail into just how high his system specs are . Which could be the cause of his problems to begin with . His point becomes questionable .
Thinking that everyone who may question the validity of the ops post . Are only blind /mindless fanbois is a tad short sighted as well . This sites main purpose is to inform the public about MMO's . Misleading information should be questioned , And any possible holes should be pointed out . If the O.P would like to defend any of his points he has every right to , there is nothing stopping him .
There is no reason for the OP to have to jump through all sorts of hoops for the Vanguard fanbois so that his opinion "means something". He's entitled to speak his piece, since it's not an affiliate fansite, but rather an outside forum.

Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)
Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

See normally i'd HEAVILY agree with you... but this OP has posted the SAME thing. 3 different times on 3 seperate occassions. He OBVIOUSLY has some sort of motivation.

Now playing: VG (after a long break from MMORPGS)
Played for more than a month: Darkfall online, Vanguard SOH, Everquest, Horizons, WoW, SWG, Everquest II, Eve
This is not entirely true. The way key-bound turning and mouse turning interact is not smooth at all. I found controlling my character very frustrating until I unbound the turn keys and rebound the strafe keys in there place.

He's entitled to speak his piece, since it's not an affiliate fansite, but rather an outside forum. I am in no way a vanguard fanboi(Been playing 3 days) or even an SOE fanboi , I have enough reason to hate on SOE to begin with(SWG vet) .
And I am sure he dosen't need you to do it for him .
