First note I have played every mmo since I started early on with EQ1. I have been through many releases and even play tested games professionally. I have been a computer professional/ gamer most of my life.
First off I can’t express how it makes me sick to continue to see posts all over the web every time a new is released about how bad it is for that person. I am all about free speech and all, but come on, these posts and people are crazy. If you have such a hatred for such games or issues with them, please for the sake of all the sane gamers, choose a different hobby. Through the years I have seen the whole computer gaming trend go through the roof. I would assume a lot of people are not used to the bugs and issues with computers in general!
All that aside and my venting done. This is a great game and the concept is one of the best I have seen since that UO/EQ1 era. I have finally gotten that creepy, scared feeling back when playing this game. It has that level of immersion from the "old" days. There are bugs; they should be fixed promptly by the devs if Sigil is true to their word and fans. More importantly their game!
Do some searching, look around and ignore a lot of these posts. Try the game, if you dont like it dont play it, plain and simple! Dont come crying on boards telling people the game wont run well because you have this uber gaming rig and you really have an old PIII machine with a 16mb TNT card. Upgrades are part of computer gaming, always have been, always will be!!!!
Do I have faith? Some. Can I see the long term ideas and goals of the devs, yes. The game is not as bad as the crazy people make it out to be. Word of advise, if some one gets so upset by the game and feels they need to troll or rant about it there is most likely something wrong with that person or their life .

" I have finally gotten that creepy, scared feeling back when playing this game"
Exactly! I get emotional reactions playing I haven't felt since EQ. A lot of that is the death penalty I think.
Deaths with basically no penalty like WoW just make the game more frivolous. if I die in Vanguard I get pissed!
But I'm motivated to play well and take some care.
Plus when you get a nice drop in Vanguard it actually means something. Unlike WoW where so much loot drops it all has to be soulbound.
indeed, very well said.

I am also an old timer. Hell, I played pong when it was new. I schlepped to the mall with a bag of quarters to play at the arcade - games like Asteroids, William's Defender, Joust, you name it. I was there for EQ pre-Luclin, and I have played pretty much everything since, either at launch or in beta.
And I say this one is crap! I can elaborate on that, but frankly despite your rant about the lack of detail in other people's posts you really have little to say in support of the game other than your dislike of people who disagree with you.
There is nothing in Vanguard that makes it a preferred game for "old timers". It's just another buggy grindfest, content light, for people who want to sink lots of time into a game and call that skill lol.
EQ1, EQ2, SWG, SWTOR, GW, GW2 CoH, CoV, FFXI, WoW, CO, War,TSW and a slew of free trials and beta tests

But Question: If I was to perform a computer software assisted language-usage analysis on the OP's post, (only 1 ever made btw), would I find that it's really Copeland or Blurr just making a new login and trolling?
Amathe,
"And I say this one is crap! I can elaborate on that, but frankly despite your rant about the lack of detail in other people's posts you really have little to say in support of the game other than your dislike of people who disagree with you. "
I dont think that is or was my point of the whole post. Reading comprehension is obviously at a decline now days.

Do you even go through quest dialog? This is an RPG!
Solareus,
You have completely given proof to my point contained in my post.
Airhead,
Pretty sick indeed, my account on mmorpg.com is from 2004, do some research before you make yourself look like a jester!

Owla... what a poor post. Get a life dude.
On day you will learn to realize that if you don't like something or have a problem with something not necessarily everyone will have to be in the same situation.
I won't comment on you other points as you don't like them, so you don't and no one will change this for you. Regarding the PC upgrade, it's just as the OP said. I.ex EQ2 came out in 2004 and (apart from the fact that it was a fiasco at launch until they changed many of the game's mechanics) no one could play it at max settings until summer 2006. There were performance rants all over. Nothing new there, you can rant how much you want it won't change what has been for the past 20 years.
I am playing the game with a gfx card that will soon be 2 years old, at max settings with 16x aniso (the dual core definitely helps); as the OP said, play a game that was made for your P III, there is no point in ranting here over and over again.
I see my there was truth to my post about the trollz and doomsayers. My post and the replys that followed re-enforce my point to a degree which is plain and simply utterly demoralizing to the human race. It amazes me people make it in socetiy and life and act in such a manner.
BTW I am looking for my usb flash drive in my desk drawer. It contains the sword of 1000 truths, i need this to slay your uber self!
I have a car for sale for $20k. Send me the check for $20k and I will mail the car to you piece by piece over the next ten years. But this car has potential and will look awesome! So go ahead and pay me now so I can finish designing it.
Thanks!

So yes, but today there is no other MMORPG that is as complete as VG, so even with its flaws this game is awesome for me and I know it will only get better.
Stone,
Your analogy makes sense but does not fit into the IT industry as a whole. The whole concept for a very long time has been to spoon feed people. Besides, the whole mmo industry is based on that ideal. It does not compute to a vast number of people. Sometimes I have a hard time with it myself.
People see games that come out with bad graphics (I wont type those 3 letters here), and expect eveything else to play as smooth on their 1995 hardware. MMO's are beasts, years to code and write dialog. Single player games take nearly half the time. Money runs out, investors need returns, etc... Besides, best testing is done with any live software roll out.
It's so nice to see a post by an adult. Thank you so much. Was a breath of fresh air. I've had the same feeling lately. Nothing but complaining and moaning and these grand "I'm quitting posts, here's why" that seem to come from some dark and unstable place.
Would that there were more like you.

But let me get this straight....you joined in 2004, spent more time gaming instead of forum-talking, but got sufficiently inspired by the flaming on this particular forum and game to break a 3-year act of silence? I mean, there's been haters and fanbois for all games for a long time (I'm an old-timer too, age on popup is legit)....
So why the post now? What is it about this game and this forum now that would get you started posting?
P.S. I really want to know and I'm really interested in your answer... not jesting at all right now...
