Two problems I've found in every online roleplaying game, to a greater or lesser extent:
1. People who don't roleplay. (Bots are the worst instance of this.)
2. Significant portions of the gameworld inaccessible because of campers who control those areas.
People who are farming for ingame currency contribute to both problems. Paying real money to currency farmers is paying people to degrade the overall game experience.
If you're so busy that you can't spend the time to earn money within the game, either get used to not having money, or find a singleplayer game to play or one in which there's no economy.

If you really want to insulate each avatar from outgame transactions, make each avatar get its own armor/weapons/consumables.
