Swg classic server is true or  false , or maybe

This is my first post  but i visit this sit since few years.

i played EQ1 , SwG  beginning to nge , WoW , DDO , DnL and now DDO again  and maybe Vanguard soon but my friends and me  hope a classic SWG server .  I don't have full fun on DDO , the combat systeme is cool , but they have only the combat.

SW is the best history and we want SWG classic server.

So  we can hope ? ...or , this is only no found rumor

If you look at the chart, the downward trend started around JTL. JTL was really really cool, but the instant travel emptied the starports which was one of if not the most important community building design in the game. When that was lost, the trend began. We all already know this though.

I certainly appreciate your candor, but I'm not completely sold. It would appear from your graph that the steady decline of subs were a result of the CU, not pre-CU.

No one makes a decision of that magnitude in a vacuum.

The point I wanted to make with the graph wasn't to illuminate a moment of shark-jumping, but to point out that if nothing had been done, subs today would have been very low anyway.

So doing something extremely stupid is better than actually listening to your players, adding content, and fixing bugs.

This isn't even near armchair quarterbacking. Smed said a few days ago that he was shocked we actually wanted content. We have asked for NOTHING BUT CONTENT for years. Content was always concern one, everything else was second.

So doing something stupid is better than doing nothing. Increasing the rate of decline is better than leaving it alone.

Look. The first major drop was when the CU was pushed. Our cries were ignored over the mess the CU created. Now instead of rolling the mess back, when we thought it couldn't get worse... it did.

But not one person did as much as apologize.

See post above for reason for the game losing subs..I dont think the NGE was to save SWG if it was it wouldve been better than the Cu and NGE..It goes back to the same thing if you think about every nerf change or renerf you will see a decline in subs.It began with the bad idea of holocrons to the NGE..Go to the publishes from 1 to present and you can see why some chose to leave. For me The CU caused me to cancel but i came back after a few fixes.then the NGE came and wow what a stinker..So Smed keeps spouting how he regrets it and its a failure but yet wont do a thing about it.Instead all of the former and present SOE Devs spin their own versions of who did what..

I dont CARE who did it! Blaming someone wont get the game back to being a Quality deep mmo it once was..If SOE wants its sub base to come back it has to stop saying the NGE is here to stay..Even if they added back a few professions wont make a hill of beans.,The gameplay is complete Garbage and plays like a bad Darkforces meets WoW clone..Facts are facts but i just want my game back when it was populated and fun..Not these excuses why it cant be fixed rolled back or even a classic server..Classic servers would solve the issue and the fact SOE is losing subs faster than either version or change,,Log in and see how wonderfull populated it has become..They added holobandmates cause real players are hard to find these days..

It was only ever "in design", I think.

If so, there'd be no point talking about it, getting a bunch of "release CURB!" posts when there's nothing to "release". Or maybe no point to that anyway.

So, I'm a lot out of the loop there - I went to JtL shortly after launch.

For JtL, we weren't even on the same floor as the live team. So I was not tuned-in to what the live team was doing or why. I didn't go to any of the live team's meetings (never went to important meetings even when I was on live, not being of any particular importance), etc. When I read the forums, I was reading the JtL beta forums.

I knew the combat system played poorly with related systems: buffs, healing, dot's, weapons, armor, etc. etc. etc. Those systems and the core combat system seemed really mis-matched to me. But I thought they could be "matched up" without a total rewrite of everything. Just as a personal opinion, I mean, not having worked near any of those myself, except to make AI fight.

I don't know why the live team was still designing a solution. I don't know why the tutorial and newbie quests we had were re-done, instead of mid-to-high content we didn't being added. Surely some things I am not even remembering were also done, but the combat solution still being designed in the time it took to make JtL really shocked me.

But I also don't know all the facts that the people who make those decisions did. Metrics and data and info and such. I'm not as quick to assume incompetence or malice as you folk here. Maybe that design started much later than I thought on account of post-launch fire-fighting. 'Dunno, as I said, 'wasn't on that floor.

Heh. I'm not really even clear on who made those decisions. Normally a creative director would be doing that sort of thing, but they made Raph an executive and moved him to San Diego shortly after launch, and there was no creative director until... hrm.

    Well, that's probably not important.

Just zeroing in on talk of how people appear to assume incompetence or malice on these boards.  As for malice, I wouldn't use that word myself exactly.  However, people get a really bad feeling when they read about SOE/LA targetting a new audience with the NGE.  It feels that the original audience is being left out to dry etc. with the hope of bringing in a different larger gaming population.  I wouldn't say malice is the right word to describe that exactly, but what would be better?  It really just seems from company statements that someone wanted more money and they were willing to sacrifice all our progress to try to get it.

As for incompetence.  Well I don't know if it was not enough time to get the job done properly or what was really going on, but when we couldn't chat or walk or use our specials etc. when the NGE was first released, it didn't feel that it was competently done.  Most of my pals and I had multiple chat windows open for use at the same time.  NGE made it so that if this was your situation, you actually couldn't even move your character.  With my former Master Doc, now Medic, I was using the area heal to heal myself in duels when I realized that I was also healing my opponent.   Remember the respec gift that put everyone to combat level 1?  The new stuff that was coming out was just really busted.  Even more recently with a new chapter, targetting things like objects would put you into combat with the object you were supposed to be interacting with.  I play CoH and CoV and their stuff never has these kinds of issues.  They have some initial kinks, but not major issues like chat not working, movement not working, healing enemies, respec removing your progress and going into combat with objects.  That stuff is really just nuts to me.

I don't want this to sound like a personal attack cuz it's really not.  I really don't know all the factors that lead to things being done as they were.  This is, however, my experience and might help explain why people are critical of the product and apparent motivations.

It did empty out Coronet but others like Theed (that was pretty busy all the time) and then Dant seemed to pick up a lot of that. JTl as cool as it was and still is had some flaws. Like why offer new races when you were only allowed one character slot per server. Didn't make a whole lot of sense. Still all in all JTL added a very cool new aspect to the game. It was good while it lasted.

Just saying thats when the trend started. Remember the first time you went to cnet? For me, i was like OMFG!!!! look at all the people! Everything imaginable going on there. After JTL...crickets. New players never got to see that..to start up a convo with a vet who explains all the secrets to swg to them. As a player, you almost learned how to play just from watching, listening and talking to other players at the starports.. That was basically the tutorial..and you got to see how much fun people could have in this game.

    See you in the dream..
