Dude stop interferring with our Cabal recruitment forum. I know its a good tactic.to blame former players for your games bad reputation. We all know its "super happy fun time" over at swg now. Clearly we are just the vocal "cabal" minority hell bent on SOE's demise. No one should listen to us at all. Hell if your reading this stop now. I am messing with your mind. Pre-CU ftw posts are like a physcotropic drug. We are like totally tripping you out right now.
Ok.. i am not here to give my opinion on anything or side with SOE. I still hate them and i will never forgive them for betraying old SWG players. But i think we all should give SWG another try. Trust me its not that bad. I returned after two years and after playign it i know why i missed it. Even in its current state its 100 times better then any MMO out there. This game is what we make it. So i would really like it, if a lot more older players give it a try thinkng that its whole new game and has nothign to do with the old one.
I know you miss it.
nah! it sux bad! I would play WOW before touching this NGE piece of crap.
Game is not dying. You will be surprised at how many players are playing at Bloodfin server. Check it for yourself.
You're wasting typing skills on these guys, Shastra. SWG is growing slowly but surely, things are being fixed, dumbass devs are being removed for others to take the game forward. This section of the forums is for a bunch of "vets" who do NOT represent the majority view of vets of the game, many of whom are still playing and adapting to the changes made, or have moved on to other games, like normal people. Instead of whining about not getting their way. i would suggest joining us over in the CURRENT forums, where people who PLAY THE GAME reside. If they don't play, they have no vote or right to an opinion as to how SWG gets developed or what is good/bad for it. And it doesn't matter if they are paid up for the next 20 years. If they don't play the game currently, their opinion is null and void.
I feel bad for what the vets went through, but it's been long enough for them to decide whether to play or not. There is no "pre-cu", "cu", or "nge" anymore. There is Star Wars galaxies. Period.
I was there for three weeks in December. Without exaggeration, I would have to say that in your "growing slowly but surely" game, the primetime hotspot on the most populous server was deader than an off night in a backwater in the game before April Fools Day '05.
For me, it's not even about the NGE, in as much as I have seen every meter of every planet, finished every themepark, done 90 percent of the quests, played every profession, fully explored space...
there's no POINT in me logging into the game anymore. none of my friends are there, and there is nothing new for me to do.
Edit: But if you hate SOE, and you hate the game, and you hate it's history, then the ABSOLUTE last thing you should do is give SOE money and play the game. seriously.
It's funny that I got banned for making a post about these kind of post. NGErs are begging for players. I guess thier hologram goup members already got boring. No offence OP, but nobody is going to believe that vets are coming back. People are watching this game and nothing has changed. Good try though.
I heard the swg holograms are refusing to group because they are to busy playing wow.

I played SWG for 2+ years before SOE invalidated all of my in game acheivements overnight. I have every bit as much right, if not more, as anyone those currently playing the game to express what I believe is right for the game. To suggest otherwise is trolling.
If you still like the game and want to play it, fine by me. To each his own. Just remember that your fun was bought at the expense of many. Its like a theif stole something from us and gave it to you. Now you didn't steal it, so its not your fault exactly, but you are profitting from our loss so don't come here and claim he have less right to say what should happen to what was stolen from us than the person the theif gave our stuff to.
You know, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm afraid of having to go to customer support to get my account cancelled after finding that it wouldn't cancel automatically when I clicked the cancel button and then after getting their Everquest 2 newsletters almost two years after I quit Everquest 2 I might have actually considered trying out the 'NGE' for a month, but no, I can't face that again, i'm sick of SOE, I want that company to die and frankly, I'm hoping they will end up dead since the way they're buying out all these MMORPG's means they'll go bankrupt sooner or later.
Sorry, but i've been treated like crap by these guys, never going to touch any of their products again and the above is my reason for doing so.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.
Show me any game outside of WoW that would show heavy usage on 30 freakin' servers. This is why a consolidation of servers needs to happen and why property of people no longer playing needs to be removed. houses, toons, everything. It should be automatic, 3 months out of game, all your crap is deleted. The population being spread over 30 servers and barren houses left by people no longer playing are why the game looks abandoned.
And will the ones talking about the holo-entertainers get a freakin' life and grow up, please? You know damn well that the hole-entertainers were created so that entertainers could simulate having a band with them while they play., not to provide a population. It's irritating to know that there are apparently some really dimwitted people who actually try to say the holo's were created to preovide "the appearance of more players".
Furthermore, this game can succeed if there aren't a bunch of trolls backlashing against anyone who dares to ask if they should play. If the game is as terrible as you all seem to think, then people will obviously find that out when they try it, right? Or is it that it really worries you that if you don't bash the hell out of it at every step, people may actually like it and subscribe?
I agree SOE fucked up with the changes, but what's done is done. Now, they have started implementing things that worked from before into the new system. The old system was buggier than the new one, sorry to say. The main thing the game needs now is more content, especially PvE, for all levels. Now that the dipwad known as Dorklard helios is gone, maybe Blixtev can get us back to a full mmoRPG instead of Helios's idea that PvP and FPS were the only thing that mattered. And they need to put collision detection and animations back in. Particle effects are not a proper substitute for animations.
See, I do know that there are problems with the game. But I also know that these problems can be fixed and I look at what can be done to make the CURRENT system work and improve, instead of monotonously spouting "Only pre-cu can fix it." 'Cause guess what, it can't. Pre-cu was broke and you all know it.
And those of you thinking the emu is gonna be the answer to your prayers, get real. The first time the emu guys get the bill from their ISP for the bandwidth, there either gonna fold it up or ask for "donations", at which time they will be shut down and sued into oblivion for making money with the game. Oh yeah, donations are profit. Unless they plan to register the emu as a charitable organization. That should work really well. 'Course, I guess you guys can just host it on your own computers over a lan or play by yourselves. Heh, and you all bitch that SWG has no population. LOL

You have the right to say what would be good for your game. And as has been made clear by you and those of this forum section, SWG is no longer your game. So, no. You do not have the right to say what is good for OUR (the currently playing and paying customers) game. And if you think my opinion equals trolling, report me.
It's a horrible mess and the fake FPS BS is unplayable. I'd rather play a working game with elves than this abortion of a game.
Tasting shit again makes it no more tasty.
tasting shit again makes it no more tasty,
and colorizing shit to pink looks nice, but underneath the color it's still shit...
just like NGE-star wars galaxies...
oh and to the op:
I re-consider giving it another try when John Smedley gets fired and the whole currently developement team gets fired as well...
SOE and NGE-Star Wars Galalaxies: Raph Koster: "It's like dumping the girlfriend who has always been patient and loving to chase after the supermodel who probably won't love you back."

WisebutCruel,
I respect your opinion - I really do.
However SOE has demonstrated to me time and time again that the current subscribers are not NEARLY as important as the POTENTIAL subscribers. I, as a no longer paying member, have what SOE wants most - my money!
If they want my money (as well as many others) they have to listen to what the market dictates. Do you really think that the recent announcement about Beast Mastery and such were done for the current subscibers benefit? Absolutely not! They have your money. They're not concerned with you. They were trying to appeal to the past subscribers. Do you think SWG can bring in a vast ammount of new subs? I don't, not this late into the game. If SWG is to continue then SOE needs us, the former subscibers. To get our subs thay have to accomodate us, so I will be as vocal about what I want until I get it.
You have already proved my point. You have stated that the NGE can succeed if it weren't for the trolls. If we have that much power over SWG then SOE has no choice but to acknowledge us.
Lastly, do you really think server mergers are the answer to SWG's problems? How many current subscibers are going to be upset by having to relocate? How many current players friends lists are going to be scattered again? SOE understands this. It is exactly why they are struggling to find a way to do it. Thats also why they're not destroying inactive characters and structures. They need those returning subs, and forcing someone to re-grind in a system that made them leave in the first place is not going to make them happy.
Ok.. i am not here to give my opinion on anything or side with SOE. I still hate them and i will never forgive them for betraying old SWG players. But i think we all should give SWG another try. i did 3x's each time i lost something, last time it hit me too hard lost over 300million credits worth of equipment and loot. plus FPS for an MMO is ghey....

lets see... current state 100x better than anything else? Nope. Not even close by a country mile.
The game is what I make it? Nope, it used to be... SOE stripped that out and turned it into a pile of steaming poo.
Things have changed: hehe thats an understatement
Game is more stable now: Nope it seems that way because there arent any other players to lag you out :P
Potential for rp: Every game has potential for RP, even wow does. People rely too much on the game... its the community that makes for RP and the community in SWG just blows anymore, at least when you can find someone :P
It's not going to die? Its already dead, just waiting for SOE to pull the fing plug
I will be loading up swg, this weekend.... and it wont be on SOE servers.

I believe it is being done as a benefit for both current and future players, including returning vets.
Absolutely not! They have your money. They're not concerned with you.
Actually, I think they are concerned about those already playing. It's called customer retention.
They were trying to appeal to the past subscribers. Do you think SWG can bring in a vast ammount of new subs?
Yes, I do. As long as they are willing to keep moving forward and implement content/game mechanics that enhance the game and not take away from the experience.
I don't, not this late into the game. If SWG is to continue then SOE needs us, the former subscibers. To get our subs thay have to accomodate us, so I will be as vocal about what I want until I get it.

For one thing, deleting player accounts and houses built by trial players and people who played for the first free 30 days and then canceled should be wiped first. As far as returning players stuff, after so much time has passed all of their belongings should be packed in their datapad, their houses removed to free up lots, and the data stored on a backup server for when they return. All their money and items will still be there, with the exception of their buildings. I think that is a fair compromise. Considering how hard it is to find a spot to place a house in some areas because the land is covered in abandoned houses, some with names like "Pre-cu FTW!!", "SOE sucks", and other such nonsense.
What you are failing to see, or maybe I am failing at communicating the point, is that I do not dispute that concessions should be made for those who are seriously considering returning provided the content is there for them. My rant is about the people who have no intention of ever going back, no matter what SOE does, and will not be happy unless SWG is shut down. Those people are the sad ones that obviously have no life and/or better things to do with their time, as well as the immature total trolls that have never even played ANY version of the game and only trash talk it to stroke their inadequate e-peens.

LOL. Retention? Losing 300k players to keep 10k players is called retention? Please explain how that makes sense.
I still cannot understand the reason the NGE'ers keep posting and begging vet players to return to a ruined game, simply I cannot grasp that concept since the fanbois keep saying the NGE is doing damn fine and they dont need former players.
Maybe, just maybe its because that the server pops are so low and their holo-pals are not helping much or role playing much with them or even giving them cybersex that they need the former players to come back to make them feel good that they brung in a former playerbase. I can see it now in Mos Noobville (eisley)
NGE Kid "Hey Everyone I got a bunch of vets to rejoin SWG!! Isn't it Uber?? L33t?"
Please explain to me here why if the game is doing so great why you folks need to post time and time again why you want us back? Come on , please I really want to know your reason for this? to get some jollies that the vet community that actually played a game that you had to use your mind to play and not be quick with the button bashing to laugh at our faces because we dont have Pre-CU and you folks have the great NGE? That SOE is giving you folks a free month for every player you sucker, ..I mean... bring into the New Garbage Experiance?.. Serious kids, tell me.. there has to be a big reason you NGE'ers are begging vets to return...
I know what you're talking about, I posted 4 pages ago. lol
So 300k players is in the past and SOE is retaining 10k players? Big whoop.
Don't come here and try to convience people to play NGE, you 10K people got what you asked for. Everyone else left. Play with your holograms. Maybe they'll let you start a guild made up of holograms and have a tea party like little girls do with thier dolls.
I'm starting to enjoy watching you NGErs come here to ask for people to come back because it's getting so much better.
And you know what? You'll have some witty reply, and giggle to yourself, but no matter what you say, 300K players say you're wrong, no matter how witty you can be. Now go ahead, start writing your novel sized reply full of smartass comments and nothing to back it up.

Now go ahead, start writing your novel sized reply full of smartass comments and nothing to back it up.
I'm sorry. The only one I see making smart-ass comments is you. Also, I didn't come here to convince anyone to come back. I'm not the OP. Try reading the whole thread. I am simply here stating my opinion, which is what the forums are for, or so I thought. And quite frankly, I thought the thread was going good, with both sides being able to be civil to each other, until you showed up. Go figure.

Pre-cu ftw maybe?
Dude stop interferring with our Cabal recruitment forum. I know its a good tactic.to blame former players for your games bad reputation. We all know its "super happy fun time" over at swg now. Clearly we are just the vocal "cabal" minority hell bent on SOE's demise. No one should listen to us at all. Hell if your reading this stop now. I am messing with your mind. Pre-CU ftw posts are like a physcotropic drug. We are like totally tripping you out right now.
Pre-cu ownz. ....
The NGE is lawlz .....
Smedley is the dark overload ........
Watchout for the pink furred wookies ......
I'd still like to see a screen shot of the server listings if anyone would care to post one.
I'd like to see proof of these growing servers.
Without exaggeration, I would have to say that in your "growing slowly but surely" game, the primetime hotspot on the most populous server was deader than an off night in a backwater in the game before April Fools Day '05.For me, it's not even about the NGE, in as much as I have seen every meter of every planet, finished every themepark, done 90 percent of the quests, played every profession, fully explored space...
there's no POINT in me logging into the game anymore. none of my friends are there, and there is nothing new for me to do.
Just a rumor though.....

LOL
EDIT: Posted by ShiloFields--"I played SWG for 2+ years before SOE invalidated all of my in game acheivements overnight. I have every bit as much right, if not more, as anyone those currently playing the game to express what I believe is right for the game."
You have the right to say what would be good for your game. And as has been made clear by you and those of this forum section, SWG is no longer your game. So, no. You do not have the right to say what is good for OUR (the currently playing and paying customers) game. And if you think my opinion equals trolling, report me.
tasting shit again makes it no more tasty,
and colorizing shit to pink looks nice, but underneath the color it's still shit...
just like NGE-star wars galaxies...
oh and to the op:
I re-consider giving it another try when John Smedley gets fired and the whole currently developement team gets fired as well...
SOE and NGE-Star Wars Galalaxies:
Raph Koster: "It's like dumping the girlfriend who has always been patient and loving to chase after the supermodel who probably won't love you back."
-Core 3 "Its the Pwn!"
No reason to keep bickering about it.
List of SOE lies
i did 3x's each time i lost something, last time it hit me too hard lost over 300million credits worth of equipment and loot. plus FPS for an MMO is ghey....
Gelasius

Read before you post. We are discussing things CURRENTLY, not things in the past. Keep up with the convo or don't bother.

Your about as funny as.......nope, nevermind. Even that is funnier than you.
