If you prefer the Pre-CU model and want to remind SOE and everyone else how much superior the previous version was to the current version what is the course of action these players should take? A lot of the board issues at the time of the NGE had to do with backlash against pre-cu people with NGE folks basically telling "us" to leave if we didn't like and basically to shut up.
Your recommendation of ignoring "complaint" posts about the NGE and how great the game use to be is going to be equal to basically supporting SOE and the NGE by being silent.
I don't disagree with you, that the pre-cu crowd has taken to calling NGE supporters names and picking on them and calling them basically stupid childish gamers, which is harsh and unfair. No doubt. Many other game communities laugh when you go on about swg in either form. Its not fair.
Now people are coming to Pre-CU board havens and making posts saying "Give it a Chance". The intentions may be good in trying to reach out to the jaded veteran community but the fact remains it is asking these players to forgive and forget what most of us view as a theft by SOE of our "work", community and game. You ask this of us without so much as SOE publically appoligizing for doing the NGE and without them issuing us veterans any sort of compensation.
Then when we point out why the NGE is not for us in a clearly hostile environment to the NGE and "you" get all huffed up about the entire situation as if the outcome from a great majority of us wasn't the expected feeback from a community you know has been hostile to your position since your position came to be.
Please dont be surprised by the attitude of this community when it rips your entire give it a chance argument. We all probably have given it at least 2 chances.
I purchased the game knowing it would need work. I went through publish after publish Pre-cu testing, working through issues and communicating bugs, requests and issues. I along with many others worked dilligently through an unfinished pre-cu to get a semi-balanced game.
I beta tested the CU. It wasn't ready and was pushed out anyways. I quit.
I came back and gave the CU another shot after it was polished during the months I was off.
The NGE was announced and I beta tested that over 10 hours on its opening player beta and it wasnt even close to being ready and was pushed out anyways. I quit.
Now you are asking us to give it a shot again? I have heard promise after endless promise from SOE on this game and now I should go back and shut up and enjoy the game?
At one time I had 6 SWG accounts (I am pack rat and needed the storage space! ). But that was before the NGE hit. Now I only have my original account. I willl most likely keep it (although I rarely log on anymore) just in case SOE wises up and actually fixes the game.
As far as giving the game another chance? Not likely with the current Dev team in place. I honestly believe that SOE knew that making the changes that they did by implementing the CU and the NGE would cause a large portion of their veteran player base to leave. But I also believe that they had hoped that the influx of new, younger players would more than make up for the lost ones. However, they failed to consider the negative feedback that forums like this one would have on potential new players.
For those that have been saying that the number of people subscribing to the game is increasing... please show some data to prove this. My account is on the Intrepid server. I rarely see anyone when passing through player towns. Most of the NPC cities are empty also. The only places that have any groups of people are in front of the Mos Eisley Starport (where all the noobs beg for money) and at Restuss. If the ingame population is increasing, there would be no need for a reduction in the number of servers (if I remember correctly several servers were removed around the time of the CU, but I'm not totaly sure).
To give an idea of how many people left the game since the CU was released::: before the CU my guild had 72 players (I still have them all on my friends list). Within a month of the CU being released we lost about 75% of them. Within 2 months of the NGE release we lost most everyone else. In the last 6 months I have seen 3 people from my guild log on. This is not a sign of a healthy game.
This is awesome. I make one civil post to give it a chance and all jumped on me like pack of rabid dogs. I should have left you all alone to bitch and moan. You people don't deserve nice words but i wont stoop to your levels. But i must remind you..it's just a game not the real fucking life. Stop getting so worked about a damn game. I am sorry that your post wasn't all you hoped. But by asking to, "give it a chance" you are asking a lot from people. I'm sure we have all given it a change at one time or another. I'd like to point out that it's not just about a game. It's also about corporate ethics and accountability to your customers. I think SOE has set a very dangerous precident in MMO's. I can no longer subscibe to any MMO and trust that my dedication to the community will not be discarded at a moments notice on the whim of a few upper management persons who will likely move on in their careers before the dust settles in their decision making. I've had SWG since 2003, so no im not a NGE person, im a vet, but i still play SWG, i just accept the facts and move on with it and have whatever fun i can have in the game, which is what i pay for , to have fun, the day i dont have anymore fun in swg, ill unsubscribe and delete the game, till that im gonna pay for it.

I am sorry that your post wasn't all you hoped. But by asking to, "give it a chance" you are asking a lot from people. I'm sure we have all given it a change at one time or another. I love those statements from the NGErs... lol those are fuel as far as Im concearned... not to mention that you can see a defense in thier post of how they do not want to be in that catagory..lol I wouldn't either.. lol
It is funny though... they get all upset or defensive, yet they pay SOE... I feel sorry for the average NGE nowadays... they trust anyone, invest in anything and will follow a dev right off a cliff.
They filtered all of us out of the game... the thinkers and ones that question what they are doing... now they just want people to accept what they do without expecting them to deliver a good product.
How ironic that they may now end up on the same last 3 servers they started out with lol..

I've had SWG since 2003, so no im not a NGE person, im a vet, but i still play SWG, i just accept the facts and move on with it and have whatever fun i can have in the game, which is what i pay for , to have fun, the day i dont have anymore fun in swg, ill unsubscribe and delete the game, till that im gonna pay for it.
"As you just said "ACCEPTING the facts" --- is the exact reason why you have the game you do now with all it's success and now talk of server merging.
You guys will nev er learn... you refuse to listen and base things on "Moving on" as your excuse... you will learn over time that sometimes you have to EXPECT SOMTHING vs just laying down and accepting it.
That is the difference in the NGEr and the old players... right there. You guys accept things, c laim it in the name of "moving on" but you forgot to show reasoning behind it.
Ironic that now the game is failing and they have to consider merging servers..... THAT is what you get for your "moving on and accepting" concept. GOOD JOB!!!!

I think it's funny based on what product they are tyring to sell us... that alone is funny enough.
