And here we go... Said this around Vanguard open beta. They would spend 100-150 posts being abusive against anyone that dares to voice their concern about vanguard and its condition, calling them all kinds of trash, speaking about Vanguard the game as a religion and about Brad as God... and its all just empty hype. One post you abuse and insult people about LotR... Then the next you jump on the next new hype train, play just as loyal a follower and start insulting anyone not playing that, completly forgetting who you were a few weeks ago...

I really wish just once... Just once.. people would surprise me. But no.. So predictable, every damn time.

the world just seem,  boring,  quests arent fun really, lol and i really hate the chunks, The load lines... i tried to run over 1 b4, and i was almoste dead, dunno why, the chunk just emptied my health bar. I know the game is not finished, but feels like u play a game that needs LOTS of months b4 it can get fixed, and not really many playing,   Big word + few players  = very empty world. I did try all the classes, and did find 1.

LOTRO just seem, more play friendly, maybe im beginning to like the fraphic in LOTRO and WoW better, was very much againts it b4 and wanted realistic graphic, but seems like, realistic graphic and hope for awesome animations beginning to fade out,  LOTRO have abit cartoony graphic, but not to much, the world look abit like...  you enter a house, nice warm from the fire, and you just have a good time

you can sit in most chairs, you smoke a pipe, alcohol has a effect on your character, food is useful, you can play musical instruments using your keyboard ( not canned music SWG style)  I don't have a full list of emotes but most of the expected ones are there as far as I can tell, there are also mood emotes which change your characters facial expression. BTW welcome to LoTRO, I hope you enjoy it

    I miss DAoC

Chat bubbles work well. There isn't any cartoon chat bubbles, just text hovering over your head.

You cant sit in chairs at least yet.

I'm thinking The Party Tree in BagEnd.... smoking pipeweed.... playing IronMan on my flute... i mean, there is no other MMO that exists where you can do that much goofing around.

    AWESOME....................

I have been waiting for another game with chat bubbles since SWG. This feature is really important to me as I despise having to stare at the chat box constantly.

I will definitely be playing this game at release.

I hear the world isent that big, but should be big enough, and with alot of content, it should be fine, but i really hope this game have lots of social stuff, good grouping system, guild system, sit in chaires in houses.. so u can RP good aswell, if thats planted ingame, good system for these things, i might think this game will rock

Sitting in chairs is 'planned' but isn't in yet.  Smoking pipes, playing music (players can actually use their keyboard and PLAY music) tons and tons of animated social actions etc.

A lot of people posting here seem to complain about the "size" of the world in LOTR but it really isn't all that small.  It's actually a pretty decent size so far and several sections of Eraidor are still going in.  AFAIK they will be patching in other sections of the map as the game progresses for free as well.  Which will be awesome.  If you look at a map of Middle Earth you'll see that Eraidor is only like 1/10 of the world of Middle Earth.... so there is plenty of room to grow the game.

I don't have any screenshot to support this but I'm 100% sitting in chairs is there. At least was in stress test. You just have to go stand on (or mabye just very close, didn't try) and /sit. I did it tens of times during the weekend.

Sounds very nice indeed :-) well i learned something, the world dont have to big the biggest at all, i was hyped about that in vanguard, no i see why the world dont have to be that big anyway....

im also looking forward to see the guild system.. i have an idea it wont so detailed, like eq2. In vanguard i was hoping u could see others lvl up in guild chat, just like in eq2, but they did not put that in, myself thought that was a smart and nice feature in eq2, anyone know if LOTRO will have this? i dont expect it to have, would be neat tho

GAH! You can sit in chairs, just gotta be close, put you're characters butt towards the seat, and type /sit.

Yes, you can sit in chairs, eat, drink, smoke, play your own music etc.. and yes you can watch your guildies level in chat as well. LOTRO has been a blast, the world is not small, and there are tons of quests as well as open exploration and crafting. Best beta game I have seen in years.

They do have optional chat bubbles, though I have not used them.

Housing is rumored to be something we'll see after launch.  Turbine's pretty good with their word, so I think we will see it.

I have to say I'm really impressed with what some people are doing with the music function.  I was running a few quests back and forth last night and ran into an Elf playing a lute.  I didn't recognize the song but it was beautiful.  I had to stop and listen for a good ten  minutes.

Come on man, give the guy a break.  Would you expect other people to change their mind if all that awaited them was ridicule for not seeing things as you had?  That certainly is no way to build community.  Embrace all, love thy neighbor, turn the other cheek...you know.

    *AHEM*

Sitting in chairs is ALREADY in the game, as are personal mounts, lots of emotes, blowing special smoke-rings with certain pipe-weed, playable musical instruments, PERSISTENT facial emotes called "Moods,"  and many, many other "frills" that testers do not usually mention in favor of talking about more substantive game mechanics.

Must admit, all this sounds very very cool

CXant wait to try it out... I also found out that, vanguard take way to much time, and really just want a mmorpg like "WoW" just log on and play, and u dont have to play for hours and hours to see a inprovemnt. And the social sounds pretty neat, sitting and smoke weed hehe, play some music, so u can pretty much make your own "music band" ingame? Sounds like it kinda, if u can make ur own music

  • KhalathwyrKhalathwyr Member UncommonPosts: 3,133
You can make your own music, Kazzer.  I ran by a guy the other day that was playing the Imperial March from Star Wars. Da Da Da Da Dada Da Dada. That one. You basically have keys 1-8 or 9 that are "notes", and I think you can vary them with the shift/alt/ctrl keys. So, if you experiment enough you can play any song known to mankind. *shrug* This isn't for me as I was more a jock than in band, but I'll enjoy tapping my foot to some of the creations my fellow players come up with. And throwing raw garbage at those who stink!

I too have to admit my perception of Lord of the Rings is changed a bit of late. When I first discovered it, the Lack of Evil Races as playable was a let down. Not just so I could run amok in the Noob zone to slaughter Hobbits ( Well OK I really do want to kill the lil buggers ) But I really was drawn to the strife in Middle Earth. A game about epic struggles of good vs evil where good has prevailed well that just sounded like a challenge to take up. I could see myself on the plains of Rohan, charging in with my Warg to battle the humans, etc. Shame my idea of fun in the middle earth realm don't fit with the developing company vision.

My second let down was the over riding premise that 'That don't fit with the lore" Some feel that riding Eagles would be a great thing, others feel something else would be top notch. Why limit the ability to have fun? If someone would love to play a wizard, cuz they felt Gandalf was a hero, and that would allow them to pay, why not? If I wanted to have an Eagle mount how is that not part of the lore? They did come in with a rider to recover Sam an Froddo did they not? Many may see this from the film, and think "oh wow that would be so kewl" But we have to remember Middle Earth has been around for a long time, and the books, and the films both difered, or took an 'Artistic approach'  to a well know world. If the game fails to allow many different players to have an enjoy their play style, We / You / LotR players will have many empty servers.

What is having me look back again is the community feel. I miss the days of old standing about in a Cantina getting my BF healed, or Medical talking to others, while the black bars of my last few hours left. I don't play MMO's to power lvl ( there are single player games for that), I do like the interaction of many players, comming in an going out. So right about now chatting up a storm over a local brew, or a smoke while hearing the minstrels going about their love sure beats being called a carebear, cuz i don't wanna gank a 2 day old astroid miner.

So don't call me a fanboi, nor a hater of another title. I'm not here to troll why Helm's Deep should have fallen in 2 hours, nor Flame how Urik's got nerfed at Osgiliath. But if you see me in a corner of the tavern, and can convice me why your in need of my axe, bow, or sword I may just put down my pint, and stop listening to the song, to accompany you to beyond the hills of safe sleep.

Mankind is not limited by imagination, but the courage to reach....
