Oh sorry, did not think I would have to list, but here goes. Housing, Guild housing Mounts, Flying mounts Boats Crafting, were crafted gear means something. Reaction based combat Diplomacy PvP PvE, in all flawors. Huge world Factions And then some.
This was done in many MMO's......................................
Are you new to the market perhaps? You said many features that have not been used in mmo's before.
Diplomacy is the only thing thats unique, but its just a card game, but i will give you that one. Boats maybe but we will see how well they are implented.
Player housing, done before, guild housing, done before. Factions, done, crafting in SWG was decent, you could build a speeder, a ship, etc. It meant something to did it not?
Reaction based combat? hmmm i thought all mobs act the same? Flying mounts and mounts, definatly done before! come on! I dont see anything brand new in that list.
And quite obviously you did not read either of my posts.
Could you please list the game that has all them features?
Not that one has this and the other has that, I never said any of the features was unique, if I did please point out were and I shall edit it?
I said no other game has all the features VG does, and I stand by that, by no other game I mean all those features, but within one single game, not all those features spread out over 5 games.
I will try to make it even more clear.
Wich game ( singularis, this means one, or the number one ), has all those features?
Again, that one thing has been done in one game and some other thing has been done in another does not help me at all, unless you know how to play a character from one game in another?
I apologize if I can not make this clearer, I did try.
Well first off, stuff like crafting being more meaningfull and better, thats opinion, not fact.
Just because the meal is huge, doesint mean you are going to enjoy everything on the table. Sometimes too much is not a good thing because all the features arent implented well, can we at least agree with that?mister marketer.
Things like mounts and flying mounts arent really huge deals since games years before had these features. The only thing that vanguard has that most succesfull mmo's dont have, is the boat building and housing plus all those other features, and lets count diplomacy.
Three wonderfull features and 2 of them people cant use anyways because..... the ocean isint finished.................... So go ahead and build a boat to nowhere. Doesint that just proove its not really in the game since its useless to have one?
Shouldint you be listing stuff thats finished and implented properly? How much of that is, really........... be honest.
lol, nice backpeddle.
You stepped in and dropped your first reply without even reading the question he was asking.. he calls you on it, and now your still not answering his question.
It's simple, I read the question, the anser is: None.
I don't even play the game and I've gathered this much.
Ya alot of what you say is true.I pre paid for 3 mnths giving myself enough time and the game enough time to see if i will continue on.So far i will have to say prolly not.The clunkiness of the zone crossings will never go away ,no big deal for the most part, unless i was pulling for a party and having to cross over one continuously.
I'm not really happy with the whole way factions is setup,it doesn't make for an open ended game, but more or less a very linear one.You are forced to do the low ended meaningless things over and over to gain faction/access in other areas.
Diplomacy is so vaguely done and so little information on it,that it becomes more frustrating than fun.The basic premise of playing cards was fairly easy to grasp and figure out,but what you are trying to accomplish and what direction or parley's you are suppose to be playing is a "figure it out for yourself"messy operation.Need gear?where do you get it?how do you get it?all far to vague.NPC to trade in those 50 hearsay you been hanging onto ,thinking there good for something?yep where are they?is there a trick to getting better loot form them?all again extremely vague.
Everyone is pretty much in agreement, the whole game was rushed and nothing seems complete.Starting up later ,was and is deffinately not an option for me.There is already far too much RMT activity in this game, meaning broker prices are ridiculously high.Try selling your low ended items a year from now to a very low noob player base?you won't have the sales to be able to afford any of the good gear. You will also have a hard time finding a party ,as even now it is extremely hard to find a group.Crafting is good enough ,that you can craft your own gear, without relying on the broker, however the timesink far outweighs your party time. You will need to spend IMO 5x the hours in crafting to keep up with partying.
700 bags?holy crap ,you may have suffered more from continuous burnout, than anything.Trying to rush through levels and crafting at such a pace would truly burn me out .
I am not sure if it was the same for you,but i find myself tripping around alot looking for answers, more so than actually doing or getting anything done. This has been one aspect ,that makes the game lose it's appeal.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
no other game has all the features that vanguard does
What?
The ones you never played due to the fact that you never tried the game? Ive played well over a dozen mmo's, i dont need to list my credentials cause that seems pompus, but trust me, they are huge!
Ahem, anyways, just because im asking a question about what features does this game have that make it stand out or different from any mmo, i get an answer that sounds like a commercial and advertisement, same b.s we see from markettingl with no factual points.
Soooo yes, i never played it, my mistake, no other game had player housing and pvp, and flying mounts. Sorry for liening to you all, i will hang my head in shame.
Sorry that Vanguard doesn't have 2 million new features you would like in your ideal game (like any other MMORPG by the way)
But at least Vanguard has the highest number of features, although that won't come as a relieve to you, I guess.
But I have to take my hat off, you talk a lot of crap without even ever played the game.
It takes a lot of courage or boredom to achieve that, and I guess you are quite bored.
Get a life maybe? It doesint matter if it has 12 features or 2 million, i just want a majority of them to work.
And they are....pal.
So what 's your next critic, since this one wasn't exactly supported by facts.
Waiting.......... Are boats functional, can they be taken in the ocean and fight pirates as promised?
Can you succesfully build a house at this point in the game?
Go on tell me facts, since im ignorant of everything and you are the man. Yes you are the man, the ignorant man.
By your own admission you never played the game and you keep trolling those boards with uninformed facts.
Yes they are working and the reason why you don't see too many around is because they are bloody expensive and the crafter that are supposed to build them, are not high level enough (since the first boat/houses recipes can be learned from lvl 21).
I told you go and play the game and write stuff you know about instead to make a fool of yourself.
And even if few features are not in? 80% are in and perfectly working.
I would have suggested going to SWG since it probably had quite a bit of what you listed; however it is not what it used to be after the NGE. Funny thing is that both games probably had the same amount of bugs. Too bad SOE/LA felt the need to destroy the game rather than fix the bugs. Hopefully Sigil will not follow in their footsteps. People don't like playing a class one day and waking up the next day to find that they are playing a different class without them changing anything. People don't like playing a game one day and waking up the next day to find that they are a playing a different game without them changing anything.
Have fun in EQ2 and DDO and if they improve Vanguard I will probably pick the game up as well.
Very respectable and mature post. I wish more people who decided the game wasn't to thier liking would post with the same lvl of maturity.
I think EQ2 is the closest thing to VG that you can get. Housing, an in depth combat system, crafting that matters. I keep bouncing back and forth between the two, but everytime I get into EQ2 and look around the world I feel like somethings missing now, and the loading screens are driving me crazy.
I only wish VG was more viable as a solo game as I'm more apt to solo then group and hate to put groups together.
Sucks you had such problems; I must be one of the fortunate few that have had no real issues with performance and bugs, and have yet to crash. The crashing is odd though because I can't get through more then a couple hours of EQ2 without it crashing on me; I can't figure out what's causing it either.
If you come across something with as much depth as VG, both in gameplay and graphics, please share.
i agree with some of the stuff (hitching/lag/etc drove me nutty at times) but to be honest i didnt come across enough bugs to keep me from playing. i also have only crashed once since launch (and im running an 8800GTX which i hear gives many ppl fits).
my reason for leaving prior to my free month running out is simple: the world feels so empty to me. i guess coming from games like pre-CU SWG and EQ2 where the world was constantly full of players i have been frustrated with VG. at times i felt like i was playing a single player game. it got to the point where i would login and i would be the only person in our guild (i think we had 60-70 when i stopped playing) online. hopefully they keep improving the game and the subscription numbers start increasing.. but my gut tells me the initial launch has damaged the reputation enough that VG will never recover enough to have large server populations. MMO'rs are finicky like that (i know i am) and its hard to get ppl to try a game when word of mouth is mostly negative like it is (IMO) for VG.
good luck to all who are sticking it out.. hopefully the game keeps improving and you keep enjoying your time in-game.
You feel the exact same way as i do Ungah. The game world feels empty and i also believe the grand opening was too much of a shock to people, that it may never survive this. When you look at the over all content of this game,it is quite good and the graphics are at the top of the heap.Don't let these bright orange/green/purple/yellow colours asian games like to use as being good graphics. There still low resolution textures.Vanguard is alot like lineage as they both tend to use textures that appear dark/dank/drab.They still look top notch and appealing,QUAKE used the same type of dark looking textures.Everything can't be all bright and cheerfull looking,it's make the world look fake.Don't get me wrong there is alot of low res texture use in this game as well, but overall it's at the top.
PLayer animations are done at a decent speed unlike break neck speeds asian games like to use.The effects system could use alot of work as the effects seem to be for the most part boring, but some are good.
My system is brand new and top notch 5.9 on the vista scale,so most issues that bother others are not so big for me.My biggest concern is the HUGE and i mean HUGE game world that doesn't have the players to fill it.If we could get a player base 2x what we have now,the player interactivity would be great and the need to solo would fly the coupe.
I might add that,i have emailed SIGIL twice and got responses both times the very next day.I have never had this kind of response before. To make it even better, this lady responded in a fashion, that shows concern for my issue and not some computer generated response.I can't say the same for in game GM"s ,they appear to be non exhistant.Sent in several petitions, then bring them back up 4 hours later, showing it hasnt even been looked at yet.So i guess SOE isn't doing there job,but SIGIL is showing me some good efforts.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
i agree with some of the stuff (hitching/lag/etc drove me nutty at times) but to be honest i didnt come across enough bugs to keep me from playing. i also have only crashed once since launch (and im running an 8800GTX which i hear gives many ppl fits).

This is the basic problem with "the Vision". Brad designs a large world, with numerous starter areas, using numerous servers, to spread the number of players out, in a game in which 60% of the content is grouping. The game is targeted at a "core" audience, which means not a mass market base like WOW. Add to that an ineffective "looking for group" mechanic, with no overhead GPS worldmap to give players an idea of how long until the group arrives at the same spot to start. At least now there is teleporters, the original design didn't call for them, players would have had to travel hours to literally group up with their friends if they didn't want to all start as the same race. Nice modification to the vision, Sigil discussing how to leave them in, but not make it too easy to join your friends. These guys really don't get it.
If you are one of Brad's "core"s players you are well on your way in forming your guild/groupmates. If you are not, and join this game 6 months in, where are you going to find the "community" to group with to enjoy the game?

If I wanted boats and pirates I would opt for Pirates of the Burning Sea.
I suppose that if you wanted to try them in a game that was out 'now' you would have to try Puzzle Pirates

Is that why Vanbois are so rabidly loyal?
No wonder there's such a communication gap. I was looking for a good game, and they were looking for The Sims Online.
