.....SOE must be desperate or something

Apparently there was an update on the 'live' version of Star Wars Galaxies recently, as you can see they're hardly bringing anything in, in fact, according to the folks at the SWG emu there has been a .dll file removed from the game itself, I wonder what this could mean eh? I think they're trying to still desperately stamp out the SWG emu guys so that they don't have to worry about having to face folks like us in a court.....

Yeah, they're hardly bringing anything in except for some things PLAYERS have asked for. It's an update, not a publish. I would imagine a .dll being removed has something to do with one of the systems being reworked. As far as SOE really being concerned with facing you guys in court, I highly doubt it. As far as stomping out the emu, if they can I'm all for it.

Why are you threatened by the emu?

Are you not confident that SWG post-NGE would remain untouched by competition?

But it just so happens to conflict with your game.

So what about those that disagree with you? Should they be denied somthing just because you don't like it?

You honestly believe SOE is threatened by the emu kids or folks crying of suing? LOL.

So you're saying its ok for folks to create emu'sof games that change not in their favor and pass out the code to their friends/others so they can skip paying a legitmate business for a game they created?

If so I hope all the new developers of P2P MMO's pass out their code on launch so we can skip that whole silly "monthly fee" thing.

nah not really, if someone actually went forward with it they might, but my point is $OE are arseholes who are not to be trusted regardless of whether they are just publishing a game or not :P

My opinion is irelevent in this discussion. It's the courts that would make that decision, and until that happens with an SWG emu then I would have to assume that the emu developers interpretation of the law is correct. It is still innocent until proven guilty right?

So again, why are people so against the emu if it hasn't even been properly delt with in any court?

    Heh.

And RIAA and MPAA would never sue deceased and people with no computer for sharing files over internet.

Yes. Innocent until proven guilty. Meanwhile, in real world, it doesn't matter whether you really are guilty - nobody cares - as long as you pay.

Just a suggestion to any SWGemu people reading this, you might want to consider running your forums and whatever else you use to do what you are doing out of Canada.  Maybe even go as far as register it as a Canadain Company (or provincial).

Anyhow something to think about I suppose...

You honestly believe SOE is threatened by the emu kids or folks crying of suing? LOL. No probably not.  They are probably threatened by their stockholders due to their inadequate performance across all fronts with their woeful loss in the console arena, TV's, (laptop battery loss), etc.

Of course $OE isn't worried about the emu ruining their game. They have a large full-time staff dedicated to ruining their game.

And nobody on the outside could ever do as much damage to the game outside of nuking Austin.

5.3 is an minor update. It are updates with are done to improve the chapter 5 update or better known as balancing. this is done while they are working on chapter 6. While bringing this update, they removed an .dll with seems was not needed from my computer. How do I have to see this as desperate? If they manage to avoid an expencive court case by doing such an simple thing I can not blame them.

well it really just so happens that they just removed a .dll, when was the last time they did? Anyways EMUs are private servers that

    1. You need to buy the original copy

    2. your not giving money to a fraudulant piece of shit company

    3. and the emu guys dont have the exact code, if they did they would already have it going. Even nowadays emus dont get the code right away and start useing it, they have to build it from scratch/ reverse packets and what not. Takeing the code and trying to make a profit, or useing the exact copy is illegal.

no were saying its ok to make a emu of a game that is not out ATM, were talking about reviving the old version of a game already out, we are paying money for the SWG discs, so we bought the game. It doesnt mean were gonna pay 30$ a month for a game that $OE has destroyed. No it is not for just some skipping on outrageously overpriced monthly fees.

Its hard to find a really populated private server, so people like in WoW just stick to the Blizzard run servers.

    Here's a thought...

If the emu allows me to play pre-CU SWG SOLO, is that against any laws?
