OMG NEW MMO LOOK

Mark your calendars. In 2008, a MMO Dragon Ball Z will be hitting Japan. Being beta testing in Korea this summer, the game is set 200 years after the manga's end. The plot? An evil organization has divided up the world, which players set out to reunite. What's more, players start off as kids, grow into adults and can select any of the major races — Saiyan, Nameks and Humans. Just as you'd expect with any MMO, players can also make their own avatars. Artist Akira Toriyama will be lending a hand to design characters, backgrounds and generally make sure the game looks all Toriyama-ey. Brian Ashcraft

This game is going to attract mostly fanbois and kids with hundreds, even thousands of different nicknames that resembles the characters in the series, SSJ_(insert-dbz-or-naruto-name-here). By the looks of it, the character customization is very limited thus you will see plenty of Goku copies or from any of the other characters in the series for that matter. That alone tells you how the community will be. No thanks.

I never was a big DBZ fan and I never really could take the people who were.....this definitely will not be one on my "Looking Forward To" List.

Regardless, the best PvP game ever made will be playable online against other opponents around the world with the release of Diamond and Pearl. So deal with it, your fantasy war shit is done.

Eh, lots of hate flying around in here.  I used to be a big fan of DBZ, but I've grown out of it.  But I'll give this game a shot for a while.  Sure, the interface in the screen shots at that link looks pretty much exactly like WoW, but it'll be fun throwing giant energy blasts and such for the first hour, even if that's how long it lasts.



Also, not that I'm trying to defend DBZ or anything, but in the manga the fights don't actually consist of yelling for four episodes in a row.  They did that to avoid filler.

Hmm, i guess it could work. Not going to count it out, although it is pretty obvious the community is going to be..less than desirable, i can say the same for WoW aswell. At the very least it offers something a bit diffrent than we have seen before in mmo's. Enough with the medieval settings and combat.



Im not really a fan of the series and normally i would just over look it altogether but all the same, things have gotten so played out now that ANYTHING that doesn't involve Orcs fighting elves and such with the cliche' axe, sword, and bow settup merit atleasts a chance to me, no matter how rediculous it might seem on the surface.

I agree that MMO's have hit a point where a change is DEFINITELY merited, but.........BUT......come on.   I mean DBZ?  there are so many more MMO's that you can be looking at as alternatives to the same old same old; Aion, Age of Conan, Fallen Earth, The Chronicles of Spellborn.  I know that TCoS is the whole cliche axe, sword, and bow setup but it changes so much and adds a whole lot to the battle system so it is worth a looksy AT THE VERY LEAST over DBZ.
