We speculated it was related to players mounting/dismounting their horses. Another rumor was that there were player items who would make us crash if in the possession of certain humans. I suppose the battle testing they are doing will adress this stuff and the Million DP-bug, too.
Yes, the monster player clients lag majorly when player characters are near.  That is how any monster player knows player characters are near (even if the player characters are invis/stealth).  You hear your disk drive accessing like mad.  All monster players report this occurence.  As a signature monster player I have played PvMP quite a bit.  The point of the original post was to alert prospective PvMP players that it is far from stable in its current state.

The lag spikes in the vicinity of players does not worry me.  I am sure it is some mechanism where the client suddenly loads all the possible information needed to display each player.  I am sure there are ways to cache that information to get around the lag.

What worries me are the time spans where you take no damage and deal no damage.  I have never experienced a game where lag caused you to circumvent the rules system.  That was the part that caused me to leave the "stress event".  If a game looses track of player actions due to lag that sounds very exploitable.

Hehe, I remember my old PC, even playing WoW I'd get a slight disk loading sound, only a soft tick, but it would always mean there was someone entering the area I was hunting in.

The new system is all good though.  I've been in a few full-raid pvmp battles and it was all good.  Most on enemy side might have been 7 or 8 in one spot.. up by Goldie.  It was smooth there even with the mobs getting pulled into it, but I'm sure any more and it might have lagged on me.
