If you're a subscriber to Gamespy's Fileplanet you can download the Open Beta client from their download service, (http://www.fileplanet.com) from April 13th.

And after 20th April, it will be available to all.

The initial Release was just open to subscribers. Check it now, or tonight and you should be able to download it. Be warned its abt 1 Gig of a download initially. Not many patches, but expect some large ones in the future.

My opinion:

Saga of Ryzom is a joke.  The Themis group has proven to me it's inability to develop and run a mmorpg.  I will not get into details, I just want to give my warning to those who are planning on SoR to be their game . . .

I have never felt this badly about a mmorpg beta ever.  I had some negative feeling towards Anarchy Online, but I am over it.  This, however, is just not a good situation all around.  I urge you to try it just to see for yourself so you don't waste you money buying the final version.  If Open Beta is this incomplete and unplayable, I would hate to see the final.

Sorry to all you SoR fans, but as a mmorpg'er, I feel it is my duty to warn about games I have tried and gotten negative opinions about as well as the good ones.

PSIBOT don't forget fileplanet is a US based service(i know they got euro servers to) but they operate out of the US and when you posted this is was only just the 20th and i bet they was all asleep

If your in the UK i would not expect the open beta client to be up till latter tonight

Tymora - I have to disagree with you here. I'm bound by the NDA so i'm not going to go into details, but Ryzom still has alot of potential. While it has its issues, they're being worked out. Their inability to really listen to Testers is an annoyance, but the game still has alot of merit.

 

I'll probably sign up after Beta, and this is coming from someone burnt out from the normal mmporg games (Doac, SWG, AC etc). very interesting game.

@klaz20: I have bought and played several MMORPGs that have/had potential and this word makes my hairs stand up in connection with MMORPG's.

PSIBOT i was really looking forward to this game to, i cant say to much cus of nda one thing i will say is lower you expetations so you dont get disapointed.

Also while your waiting go and read some of the guides on the site you will need then to learn how the skill system works

From April the13th 2004 Fileplanet/IGN/Gamespy subscribers will exclusively be able to download the beta client from www.fileplanet.com until April 20th when the beta will be made available to all Fileplanet/IGN/Gamespy users.

Whatever your reasons might be, The Themis Group had nothing to do with the development of Ryzom and does not currently run the game either. The game is developed by Nevrax and the servers are hosted by Jolt in the UK. (North American servers will get hosted in the US before release though.)

Yes there is still a NDA in affect but I have to say I am personally disappointed and have been a tester for some time now. I suggest however everyone that has any interest download the open beta and try it for yourself we all have different tastes for sure. I actually un installed yesterday and am pretty much done with the beta all together. Personally it just isn't a game for me.

What takes place in Beta should not reflect the retail version of the game. It's a place to test, but I think some people look at Beta as a trial rather than a testing phase. Only time will tell, hopefully they do something drastic about the title as there have been other bad reviews in other forums.

Drakir, you supose to get a cd-key after finishing the download through Fileplanet.

I think you will miss this once you download the client via bittorrent.

You need to start installing the game first, and then a window will pop-up with the key.

EDIT: Ok, nevermind...I installed it, yet I haven't gotten a key yet.

That link that was provided says my email is not verified so I assume its only for the subscribers to use.  Is ther eone for the people who dont pay to their web site?

You don't need to be a subscriber anymore. You need to get your email address varified for the gamespy account so that they can give you a key. Just follow the directions on that link. Make sure to login first.

Got it to work but now it sends me 00000000000000 as the activation key which when I try to sign up tells me it is invalid length, I got this both on the page and in the email.
