I did not get my CD key either after downloading from fileplanet .. I am now waiting for 5 hours to try again.. I sent a trouble report but that may not even get answered .. Please if anyone finds out how to get this cd key after the download for "The Saga of Ryzom" tell us or me
well, i downloaded it earlier today, got no registration code in pop-up, e-mail or otherwise. heard it would pop up during installation also, it did not during the 4 times i reinstalled the game. too bad, i was actually thinking of subscribing to fileplanet if things went smoothly. i am in line to download, only 270 minutes to wait this time. I have sent e-mail to customer support, no reply. if this next download does not work, not only will i definately not subscribe, but i will also post my review of fileplanet on every forum i am a member of and will become a member of in addition to an email to NEVRAX explaining to them why thier decision to have fileplanet distribute thier product lost me and most likely many others as customer. I believe the biggest reason developers offer a free OPEN beta is to attract subscriber, and being burned so often myself with buying games that i ended up not liking or continueing to play, I will not buy any software before i can try it out first (which is NOT unreasonable considering that virtually all games MMORPG or not are available for a time-limited trial). btw, i did provide an ISP provided email not a web based one.
I'm in line again again.. but I did find out my email had not been verified so I have followed the instructions and i am now verified ( without subscribing).. And I managed to accidently kill my second try so another 4 hours I have ...What was strange is I have had a fileplanet account for years ..
LOL,ditto here, no code,no reply from fileplanet, like i really expected one haha. I've been a member of gamespy for a few years but since the "merger" CS has diminished greatly. Guess NEVRAX made a big boo boo with this choice as I'm not going to bother wasting 4-5 hrs to download it again. LOL
psibot - I understand what you mean abt potential. I will say that its a beautiful game. Not all content is available yet, and yet bears waiting till it is. And i've been playing mmporgs for 5 years, both beta and full. Nice game

Whatever your reasons might be, The Themis Group had nothing to do with the development of Ryzom and does not currently run the game either. The game is developed by Nevrax and the servers are hosted by Jolt in the UK. (North American servers will get hosted in the US before release though.)
Ack, sorry, I am editting this to apologize for the double post, I goofed. My post follows . . .

Sorry, my mistake. Nevrax is the developer. I thought the Themis Group was the publisher, in which case, they do run the game (I don't mean techincally as in servers, I mean in the overall decision making and production, like SOE or NCSoft.)
In any case, it still doesn't change the fact that Saga of Ryzom is being terribly rushed. It is so not ready for open beta. Here are just a few reasons why I think so:
1. Compatability - Many gamers use 1 of 2 video cards. I am assuming most people that play mmorpg's what to get the most out of the game as far as graphics and frame rate, so I am guessing we either use an nvidia or an Ati card. Well, many of us that have an Ati card have not been able to play in the beta, because the developers had not made them fully compatable, I don't know why. Some people were able to re-configure thier cards, turning off things, chaning registry, etc.
2. Fundamental game systems still do not work - here's one - when you died, you should have the opportunity to respawn somewhere. In SoR, half the time, after I died, I would up in a netherworld, off the map floating in a gray space where I could not do a single thing. Pray there is a GM around to help you out.
3. Crashes and freezing - I was able to log in (after days of character creation problems during closed beta). My time in-game would only last for a few minutes before the game froze in a state where nothing could be done but turn off or restart your PC. This probably has a lot to do with the Ati card I have, SoR hates me and my PC, so I hate SoR. It won't come to a compromise with me either, its a damn shame.
4. Bug Reporting - In a beta, you would think this is a very important feature. It doesn't work. I have come across many other bugs in the 5 minute span of playing before I would inevitably freeze up and have to re-start the PC. Too bad I could not report them.
5. Support - There wasn't any. The players that posted on the Beta forum were sometimes helepful, but most posts ridicule and just say to read the beta FAQ. Many players gave helpful suggestions on what video card feature to disable or howto turn off your sound card so you can play. I have tried many suggestions except for the ones where I would have to alter my PC so that it affected other games I play. I should not have to rearrange my PC to test Ryzom, the developers should listen to our problems and try to change the game to run on various systems configurations. This has not happen as far as I am concerned.
I may be the minority here, but I can't change what has happened to give me this opinion toward the game and it's developers and decision makers. I had very high hopes, but in a time when there are so many other mmorpgs to choose from, this is how they begin to get tossed aside. I may come back to Ryzom (much, much later) after release, but I hope for all of you fans that they complete the game before release this summer. Good luck.
I don't say, that the points you criticise schouldnt be criticised, but after all it's still a BETA. whether it's OPEN or not. It's still not released.
Okay I had multiple porblems Geting the Activation code(AC). i solved all and thought i share the solutions.
1.) One can get Activation code at http://www.fileplanet.com/betas/ryzom.aspxwithout downloading the client. 2.) You need verified Filepanet Account this is slightly more than you need for simply downloading stuff. If you have not verified our Account yet You land there anyway by above url.
3.) Check spam Filter. I used my GMX account to register fileplanet part off my anto spam meassures. Well the GMX spam filter did not let those messages thru. 3.1) I tried to confirm verfication thru the HTTP protal on GMX I dont know exactly why but it was not possible to do this from the IE6 broswer. I had to do it over an normal email program.
4.) type in the number you get there an press sumbit the get your Activation code.
Originally posted by klaz20 As far as i'm aware the NDA is still on. Hence my lack of details to explain why i think they game is worth trying
The NDA is lifted for everything concerning the current beta 3 phase. The only NDA that still exists covers old (closed beta) testers and their experience/knowledge concerning beta 1 and/or beta 2. There is no NDA effective for new testers in beta 3.
I maintain this List of Sandbox MMORPGs. Please post or send PM for corrections and suggestions.
NDA or not , I got in closed beta awhile back and I was very disappointed in Ryzom and it has nothing to do with the beta problems(there where lots of problems, many more then any other game I ahve betaed that was heading into open beta). The whole idea behind the game, the art ...nothing about the game was appealing from what I saw.
First, I'd just like to say thanks to whoever posted this link first. Its what got me my key.
Since you guys helped me, I thought I should register and help you. That link should work now to get your cd-key. Last night it wasn't working (getting all 0s as a key), and I sent in a support request to fileplanet. At about 1am pacific time, I managed to get my key, and everything worked. This morning, I got an email back from fileplanet support saying there was an error in their key generator, but it's working now (as i'd already figured out through pure luck). You don't need to do anything fancy, just verify your email address, log out, and log in. Then the link above should work properly.
You do NOT need to redownload, or anything like that. This morning I got an email with the key again, and this time I hadn't requested one, so i think they're sending out emails to people who've signed up now. If you haven't got yours, just use the link.
And there's no NDA. I signed nothing, didn't accept a TOS or anything when I played the game.
It's clunky (My bf is testing WoW, and this doesn't even compare) but it's fun. If you take the time to learn how the game works, it's quite enjoyable - and well optimized too.
Guys i'll cover a few points why i think this game is a good alternative to the other crap out there.
1) Crafting - Its easy. And its necessary. That doesn't mean you Have to craft, but it means that crafters have a real role in the game society. I've never bothered with crafter roles in mmporgs before because there was no need for them, but this game at least allows players to have a useful crafting life.
2) combat/Magic - Hybrids are usually punished in other games. Ryzom allows you the choice to play as a hybrid or go completely for magic/melee/ranged. Its a matter of choice now, rather than have your character predefined by two decades of fantasy novels.
3) Graphics - Just beautiful. Search the landscape (not all areas available) and you'll find valleys, ruins etc that are a joy to look at. Combat affects while somewhat limited are lovely to look at. Plus player character models are damn sexy.
4) Sound. Almost non-existent. So what? In every game i've played I've nearly always played winamp in the background, with just combat sounds playing thru. Game includes nice animal noises, and shows promise of other advances.
I like the game. The first 30 levels are easy and alot of fun. The rest i don't know, as the highest i've gotten is 37 (not going to go into too much detail here). Its open Beta. Things will change. And change for the better.
