What does it mean the odd badword i don't get that part in the rules??
It means if you type a whole paragraph or more of stuff and say F#$% once, your likrly gonna be ok.

The banning of accounts for referring and discussing private servers is complete and total overkill.
Most private servers, with the exception of the EQ 1 private server, suck badly. I think we can and do make legitimate points about private servers and should be able to freely discuss them. The premise of MMORPG in banning people for them is a noble one, but it is not a fair or accurate premise. It does not undermine or harm intellectual property.
Look at the EQ 1 server. People want a semi-classic but better Everquest server. The private server does that, for free, with excellent GM events and involvement. It just implemented a "band" system so that groups of people can teleport to the band leader so you can consistently level with your friends and group. It is innovative. It works great. I think the community, the MMORPG community, benefits from learning about and participating in this server. SOE is aware of the server, and SOE cannot do anything about it. The server does not violate any intellectual property rights. It is thriving. Doing extremely well; they just added a test server to it. It is even better than the Live servers in many ways with more quests and features. Discussing it should not, and I believe is not, a crime against intellectual property or harming anyone.
The banning of accounts for referring and discussing private servers is complete and total overkill. Nevertheless it is still against the policy here to post about the free servers and they are still illegal. If they suck so badly and not a big deal then it should not be a real loss by not posting them here. You are able to freely discuss about free servers. I do it all the time. However, if you start posting links to free servers then more than likely you'll get that post deleted simply because we are not allowed to post links to illegal activities. Look at the EQ 1 server. Discussing, debating, having conversations about free servers isnt wrong. Posting links, talking about how you run one, etc, is. It doesn't matter how much the real servers suck. They are illegal to operate and against MMORPG.com rules of conduct to post information concerning the free servers. BTW, the servers DO violate ALL intellectual property rights. Go ahead and google Lineage Extreme Free servers. Im sure you don't want to pay the 200K fine he has to do with NCSOFT after the FBI broke into his house eight months ago. Trust me, they are illegal to host; I don't care who tells you they are legal they are just fooling themselves

there are lots of losers who post on these forums and mmorpg.com has (outside of these boards) been labeled in the past as a haven for lots of losers that get banned from other places with the quickeness. It's good to see they are cleaning out these people. Like it or not mmorpg.com has a liability everytime some idiot says or posts something on their forums and the quicker they get rid of the idiots the better for them.
they have lots of advertisers to keep happy , some of them big name and deep pocketed. At the end of the day this place is still a business not a playground for morons.

Hi, please feel free to take your happy ass to another forum not filled with losers or morons.
The only place I've heard that statement about mmorpg.com was from that pencil prick Xarfox from the Space Cowboy official forums, and he's about as convincing as a weave on Telly Savalas.
I, for one, have never been banned from a game.
I have, however, been banned from here multiple times for responding to the basement warriors , giving them an unabridged guide to the levels of their stupidity.

Lol like any internet advertiser is going to read something Joe, kiamde, or I used to post and say "hey just because of that user i will stop advertising here"
I could however see developers not giving interviews or exclusives if the place was a meeting ground for free servers.
The people they are advertising for will mostly look at forum traffic, who else advertises here, and how effective the ad will be here for their target market.
They wont go hey because modjoe talks about vodka, I will not advertise here anymore.
Its not like the 700 club has tried to start to advertise here.

I am not bashing Americans. I love Americans. I more than like them. I am critical of their elites, special interest groups, and their political party system.
Again, I am not anti-American. I love America and Americans. I admire the Constitution. I admire individuals such as Thomas Jefferson. I am providing a different perspective to things, and sometimes that perspective is critical but not bashing Americans.
However, the problem is that most protestation of the biased and incompetent moderation is not seen by the community. Many threads are deleted. Some are locked. And the people raising issues are often suspended and/or banned. It is the policy of MMORPG to keep the discussion of its moderating activities limited to this thread and/or through email. As it is plainly obvious, a wrongly banned or suspended account is not able to bring to light the bias and incompetence of the moderator(s) of this forum.
It has reached a point in which even the mention of certain topics, or being even critical of certain issues, results generally first in a warning and then subsequently a ban. The effect is to create an environment on this web page and forum that is more representative of the moderator(s)' point of view than the individual(s) making their views known.
----- WoW and fast food = commercial successes. I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
But this site has gone downhill quite terribly in the last year. You've got moderators who allow posters to call someone a "D***" (I reported it and it took three weeks for them to see it). You've got moderators who will allow a thread of religious and/or political nature filled with flames and personal insults to last 20 pages and then you've got the other extreme; you've got moderators who will literally delete a thread because it criticizes their favorite upcoming MMO.
It is sad. Luckily, I have found a better place to post and found better endeavors to pursue other than reading flames or immature posts with little to no moderation.
The fact is this. This site lost all of their best moderators. That's a fact. Sorry to see this place suffer. I've been here when the site was just a fan site generating hardly no money and it's posters were it's patrons.
It is very sad to see the patron switch from the poster to the guy paying the money to host his ad here.
You all take care. I'll drop by every now and then when an awesome post will catch my eye; but seeing that is rarer than the shroud of Turin these days, I may only post once a month in a game-related section or something.

Believe me, Riki, I've been trying to get this community back to the way it was. I've been trying for a year.
However, I can't do it when the rules here are so unforgiven and some moderators are given special permission to delete any game thread that talks negatively about their favorite game or go on the other extreme and have very little moderation to the point where the next three pages are overun by threads reminscient of the early battle-net forum wars.
Trust me, man. I've tried. I even reapplied to be a moderator here but I think I pissed off the community staff here so I dont think that staff position will be given to me lol! The rules are way too random and moderators are given free will as to what a ban should be warranted or not. When you get a "dirty" moderator against you, then you're sorta stuck between a rock and a hard place.
However, if Admin does some house cleaning with the staff and site becomes vibrant and mature again, Ill be more than happy to be back; but right now, it's a moderator ban for all circus and I don't want to get caught in the middle of it like I have been for the last several months.

How would we know what mod is doing what? I mean look Taera, you just quoted his whole post and now what him to email. Now he could email the same thing, but you are the COMMUNITY MANAGER. You can investigate this now, because you already read all the paragraphs and know that a valued member believes that something is up with the moderators. If that post isn't enough to have you investigate and he has to physically email then why? Why have this sticky topic? Why have these new rules? Why?
LOL This is silly............... good questions Rik. What is the point in trying to have innocent fun with everyone, most here knows each other knows what they are like. LMAO its like the government in here, oh can I say that still? I think someone who is a Mod went to school and got an HR degree, oh noooooo. Bring it on down now.
Damn byotch dat aint no friggn moon fool, dat be a friggn space station byotch.

That is exactly what I think. In Vanguard, it is accepted and encouraged to flame Vanguard and the players of that game. However, in other forums such as WAR, the moderator does not merely lock threads or reply in bright green lettering to support the game, the moderator deletes threads critical of WAR so that the community cannot view them.
The other problem is the improper use of reporting. I think some (many? one? two?) moderators see a post or topic is reported and think, "Oh, it is reported a few times. It must be in violation of policy." However, a lot of people will report, repeatedly, a certain user or certain topics because they dislike the poster or what the poster is saying.
