But I don't understand I have allegedly been topic hijacking 2 threads. Gotten 2 posts deleted and thus got 2 bannings. I have contacted community@mmorpg both occations yet to receive a reply on why it was considered hijacking. Being sarcastic and in that rude is not hijacking.
The third ban one would count me out, no? Then how come there's still same people around that have had alot more posts deleted, done heck of alot more topic hijackings, flaming and trolling around?
I've had a post moderated for excessive trolling. This terrible crime I commited amounted to calling people "miserable gits" for being so negative about the state of MMOs. Oh noes - I'd better become more cynical and bitter before I get banned again. Fault that logic I dare you.
Anyone think the mods are just moderating out of boredom, or they just don't agree with what particular posters are saying? This is bordering on harrassment.
Moderation should be done in moderation, not with a big pointy stick carried by someone on a power trip.
Still waiting for your Holy Grail MMORPG? Interesting...
I recieved a PM today, I was very surprised when I saw that it was a warning, since I haven't posting anything even remotely offensive lately...but apparently I'm no longer allowed to call someone who is obviously trolling (and should have had his thread deleted) "uneducated about the topic"
That's not a God damn personal attack, it's an observation of truth, anyone who read the thread would agree with me. The moderators on this website suck, end of story. The new management, the new rules, and all of the moderators for this forum >suck< period, end of story. You all need to learn what the word discretion means and start using some, because you're losing a good community that has been built upon years of open discussion and lively debate.
Hey Draenor,
I would review the content of your post, there was a lot more to it than you are implying.

I understand that being banned is frustrating, and that you want to be able to hang out on the forums. Please understand that we have our rules in place for a reason - this is an MMORPG site, and we want users to have a friendly enviornment to post their ideas, questions, comments, suggestions, etc. If you look at our Rules of Conduct, every rule on that list is designed to cut down unfriendly (or illegal) behavior.
Tips for not getting banned:
Read the Rules of Conduct. It will take you about 10 minutes, and could possibly save you multiple days worth of bans. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "but I didn't know we couldn't discuss private servers!"
If you feel that another user is trolling, flaming, or otherwise breaking our Rules of Conduct, please notify the moderators using the "report" tool. Do not call them a troll, flame them back, harass them in emails, etc. If the post is not handled within 2 hours, email community@mmorpg.com and I'll crack my whip
If you disagree with another user's post, don't question their ethics, intelligence, nationality, etc. Don't ask them, "are you stupid?" or "what were you thinking?"; don't call them a noob. Respond to the post without attacking the poster. If you feel that a poster is continually bringing up the same subject, don't accuse them of trolling or spamming; use the report tool and let us handle it.
If you have received a ban or warning on the forums, and you feel it was not warranted, please email community@mmorpg.com. Assuming your email isn't something along the lines of "lol u suck", you will receive a response - please be patient, and please include all relevant information (i.e. your MMORPG.com username).

I completely agree with the rules but there are some mods who do not follow those rules and make up their own. The rules are not the problem.
The problem lies in the moderator's inability to deicipher those rules or to put them into correct applications.
Banning a person for a week because they were critical about an online game does not fall into those set of rules nor did a violation of those rules occur.
Rules are great. I'm 100% behind them. Your moderators need training and that is factual. Personal bias on a moderator's part should not have anything to do with them banning someone; if I do not like a game and I say why in the forum where that game is located then I get banned for it, then your moderator and everyone else who upheld it is no better than Egomancer formally from Mourning.
People trashed that game and he asked you all to make the members stop. Your reply was that they are not violating the rules and if someone doesn't like the game and givie critical reasons why, then a post stays. Remember? They (Mourning) even threaten to sue. But, good Lord, if I say something bad about Star Trek online, your moderator (name witheld because I know who it was) unleashes the hounds of hell against me. You need to tell that mod to kill the favortism and to do his job correctly.
Sorry. Im still pissed about it because I feel you all aren't doing anything to fix it. Maybe you are...maybe you are doing it behind the scenes...who knows. But like I said. Rules are great. The people who are governing those rules arent so great.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Nor have i confirmed any of it with relation to my situation.
But I agree the rules were never the issue even back in the day the problem is the flux between totalitarianism enforcement, and doing nothing at all for my first two years.
The middle needs to be found.
but my bans were almost entirely ridiculous at least the first two, and they were indeed by the same moderator.
i think for any ban longer than a week it does need to have some sort of oversight so we dont get overzealous prosecution.

Well, the community manager is only 21 according to her profile. Which doesn't bode well for most of the other mods, and would certainly explain the completely inappropriate warnings and bans I've received.

The moderators do not apply the rules in good faith. Instead, if a moderator (for whatever reason) targets you, and you are reported by someone whom disagrees/dislikes you, expect a ban.
STEP 1: Moderator dislikes you.
STEP 2: A person who also dislikes you (or disagrees) reports you for whatever reason.
STEP 3: Moderator bans you.

You're....kidding, right? Please tell me you're kidding. Noone could possibly be that........
Kidding, absolutly not. It is Completly within my constitutional rights to publicly object to something in any media forum and to ask others about it as well. The deletion of my thread which broke NO rules is censorship and they should make it Clearly known to any and all who post on these forums that they will without warning or notification censor your posts and threads.

Bottom Line..
Doesnt matter if you broke any rules or not this site can do whatever it wants, its their property not yours. You do not PAY to use this site therefore have absolutely NO rights when someone deletes your thread.
This site may be open to the public but it is privately owned.

Sorry....but I had to butt in on this one. I havent posted here in about two months but this post just had to make me post.
It is by far the most ignorant post I have ever seen. You actually make the ones who have a legtimate reason to be upset to look really really bad.
You have NO constitutional rights on a forum that is owned by an individual or a corporation. They can delete anything you say on these forums and you will NOT find a lawyer on this planet who will take you seriously.
We're arguing about the moderators utilizing their rules in a very haphazard fashion. Your going off about how your constitutional rights are being violated. You wont get anywhere with that argument.
Oh....and btw, coming from an ex-mod, I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that this site is not owned by EA or any other gaming site. Matter of fact, I know (as do many other old school mods) a former MOD who quite this job to go to EA. BTW, Community Manager...I hope there paying you more than 40K cuz that's what they offered Kunou to stay

I still feel that the moderation out of whack, but it has seemed to tone down a bit lately. Maybe it is just the fact that the community has been beaten into line and all the posters who used to post clever and witty stuff have been left on the side of the road.

Nah Enigma.
Ignorant sure, even extremely so.
But THE most ignorant post, sadly we both probably know thats not true, hehe.
Have to say the place was better back when we had if not professional then at least dedicated mods in this place.
Allthough I can understand that it is different to mod a forum with 10k members and one with over half a million, not that a even a fraction of them ever posts but still.
On another note I have found myself heavily censoring myself these days, just to stay in line.
But thats like taking the fu out of fun...

I neither play WoW nor eat fast food.
LOL i see these forums are a joke, and most likely this site is owned by EA,. Post anything negativr about EA and their pirate tactics and your post is deleted. Frankly i kinda feel like filing a lawsuit, my thread broke no rules but was removed which is a violation of my civil rights.
All I can say, is go talk to any lawyer you can find. When they've all stopped laughing, you can tell them you're really serious.........
Bottom Line..
Doesnt matter if you broke any rules or not this site can do whatever it wants, its their property not yours. You do not PAY to use this site therefore have absolutely NO rights when someone deletes your thread.
This site may be open to the public but it is privately owned.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

Enigma takes 2 months off then posts a double burn upon his return...lolz
