Whats your longest gaming session without sleep?

KlaveKlave Member Posts: 46

WoW = My wife did a 18 hour marathon recently and enjoyed every minute. Mainly because she's new to MMO's and it's a totally new and genuinely excitng experience for her. Only slept cos she had to.

Halo 2 (XBOX) = She also did 16+ hours to finish it in one sitting. Which was strange cos she never  normally plays FPS's cos they give her motion sickness. Bought her Halo a few days later and she did the same thing again. Just shows how well made they were i suppose.

EVE = I played at least 14+ hours (trial). Half of which was spent doing the tutorial (twice) to understand what the hell was going on (only a slight exageration). After 2 hours of mining getting some sleep was too tempting.

Planescape Torment (PC) (think that was what it was called!!!!) = My non MMO game which was by Bioware i believe. Must have done 20+ hour sessions on that game easy. Best RPG ever made IMO. FFS someone please make a MMORPG as well written as that. Does anyone remember that game??????????????????

So what games (MMO's and offline) have made you play the longest in one sitting and why?

When I was a kid I dropped out of high school and used to do 36 hours of UO (and later EQ) and would sleep for 15 hours and do it again.

Now I'm lucky if I get 2 hours in a day.

    EverQuest the original.

Was a raid by my guild on the Plane of Fear pre-Kunark.

24 hours up til I just couldn't go on any longer.

And I was the guild leader!

Suffice to say, the guild killed the zone and I was dreaming of buttercups and lollipops and all that crap.....

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Civilization when it first came out had a 3 day weekend and was up the whole 3 days playing. Wow that was a while ago. Now I am lucky to play any game for more than 2 hours straight.

I believe I have had my share of 12-16 hour shifts of WoW, EQ1, and FFXI. I can not wait to get a weekend off from school, work, and baseball to do the same for WAR and AoC.

Done a couple of nice sittings, lanned with my friend on cs for about 10 hours (10 pm-8 am), did about 17 hours of Guild Wars one day to get my ranger from 1-20. Not so much of this anymore because staying up like that is really bad for me, plus I am trying to drop video games a little.

When I first started playing MMOs I was crazy with staying up late. Almost every night I would stay up until 2am, get up at 6...it was so bad that I developed a slight twitch in my eye caused by sleep deprivation.

I once played EQ for 36 straight hours. Well, more like 21 hours, and the other 15 I was just awake. At around 12pm around the start of the 36th hour I looked at the clock...next thing I know I was waking up at 5pm in my bed. It was very weird.

Make up your mind, and you'll never whine or repent about gaming hours anymore, then have a go at every Game. Open up the Internet, join in all the Mmorpgs you can. Go make the Guild. But never, never let them persuade you that things are too difficult or impossible. "

If a short break for food doesn't count, then I would say about 15-18 hours, maybe more. When I played WoW we stayed up all night (6pm onward) in my friends garage PvPing and raiding (1st it was MC, this was WAY back in the day Pre-BWL, and then we hit the towns). We had about an hour break most of which was driving to the nearest Publix, which was around 20 minutes away. Good times.... good times... I'm going to try and do that with CoH over the Spring Break go from 20-50 in a week LETS DO THIS!

Oh and I'm going to attempt a 24 hour session with WAR when it comes out, pre-Xmas I can do over the break. Post might be a little harder.

  • About 48 hours playing Diablo at a lan with about 30 minute stop for a nap & Pizza in the middle many years ago.

More recently 26 hours playing WoW while unemployed - Now I too fall into the group of "I'm lucky if I get 2 hours uninterupted"

Mine was a D&D pnp game with some friends. We played where we work since it was closed for the weekend (call center) and we pretty much played from friday at 7p.m.  till monday when the workers came in. And as anyone who pnps, they know we did not come even close to finishing our campaign.

I'm ashamed to say it, but my longest time spent ingame without any break was 38 hours.

The game was SWG (pre-CU) and I was finishing my pre-9 Jedi template. I just couldnt stop playing till it was complete.

I also had several 18ish hour sessions in that game. It was my first MMORPG and I still havent found a game that measures up to Pre-Cu SWG.

    MMORPG History:
    Playing - EVE Online.
Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion.
    Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9).
Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.

3 days straight on SWG. I had a major crafting run that I was juggling around with my main, and to pass the time I hunted Jedi on my alt. The day after the third day was thanksgiving. I ended up passing out during the appetizers.

Oh man yeah, Planscape.  THE BEST RPG game ever imo.  Some of the most memorable characters ever created in any medium, book, game, movie, whatever.  Glad to see some others still remember this masterpiece.

I don''t really know when Humankind will die out but i''m guessing about 6 years before WOW.
