Whatever you guys say doesn't really matter because the fact is that most of us will play WAR and enjoy it to its full potential. And I'm sure most of us will also be happy with the pvp system this game will have( I mean just look at dev team- you have to be optimistic!)

WAR is not made yet- we are just assuming how the battle will look like. So please let's not already make conclusions that pvp will suck, AoC will be better and yadi yada..

Relax, and be happy that you can witness, in my opinion, best MMO ROLE PLAYING GAME- which is PvP based- to come!

You are saying that WAR is a WoW Clone?

If WAR was a WoW clone:

It would have 10 or so different classes that each race and allaince uses, it doesn't - it has 4 completely unique careers for each race with absolutely no repetition.

It would have only one type of segregated PvP, the outcome of which has absolutely no affect on the gameworld - there are 3 different types of PvP in WAR that are integrated into the gameworld and the outcome of these battles affects the overall Campaign to capture the enemy's capital city.

The endgame would be focused on getting the ph4tt3st l3wt in order to spend hours killing high level NPC Mobs with 20 other people - the 4th Tier Battlefront in WAR will create an endgame that is ever chaning and constantly challenging.

There are many other differences between Warhammer Online and World of Warcraft; lateral character development, a new take on the standard level system, high level characters cannot come into low level areas and wtfpwn the new players, pvp has no queue times and is automatically balanced, etc. Before making statements about a game being a straight copy of another please be sure to compare all the different aspects of the two.

You say that WAR will use the 'same old boring static combat system' as WoW and other MMORGPs, however if you have ever played PvP in Guild Wars you will find that a combat system based on dice rolls can be fast paced, engaging and exciting, and require a very high level of skill to do well at while not being based on twitch or reactions.
WAR's combat system will be more than just a boring static system - Mythic are implementing several features in the combat system to make it more tactical and engaing - the inclusion of a morale system and morale skills, a tactics bar and combat physics will help to make the combat fun and varied while allowing large numbers of players to participate in battles with minimal lag. You can read more about the combat system here.

By all means don't play the game if you feel the combat will be boring, however I think you will be missing out.

No, it just makes the character's abilities subject to the player's reflexes and fine motor skills, which destroys the separation between the player and the character.  It changes the game into an action/adventure game and not a RPG.

First, let me say that I have no doubt WAR will be a good game.  I've heard nothing but great things about DAoC so I'm sure they improved on their system.  I never played DAoC so I dunno what the combat is like.  I really hate battles where you stand still 90% of the time, so I hope its nothing like that.  Back to the topic though.

I never knew RPGs all had the same type of combat?  As far as I know there are many different types and action is one of them.  So why is everybody buggin out about it?  I agree with the OP when it comes to combat.  MMOs should be working on more action.  There are way too many games that dont give you enough freedom.   I dont agree that the current systems take no skill (maybe for some of them).  You definitely have to know your class.  I highly doubt you could jump on any random MMO, press random buttons, and be a good player.

Also, I'm sick of people telling others to play a FPS.  I personally am not a fan of the genre.  I understand a lot of people like the way MMOs are built right now.  Theres also people like me and the OP who think its time for a change.  I dont think its possible to have anything close to God of War yet... Maybe if the whole game  was instanced.  Seriously though, I'm sure they can do something better than whats currently going on.

BTW I think this wouldve did better in the general forum.  I dont think WAR fans really want to hear this stuff.

As long as Warhammer's action plays like Warhammer, I'm cool with it. I'm a big twitch or at least skill based action fan but I think between Warhammer's just.. Warhammernish and AoC's unique proposted battle system I can bounce between the two just fine. Who sticks with one game longer than 9 months now anyway? I don't have the patience on so many levels. :p

I kill other players because they're smarter than AI, sometimes.

OMG chess is for noobs!  Both factions have the same classes? WTF is up with that? And only six classes? Seriously, WTF? Even WoW has more than that!  And the classes are totally unbalanced. We've been telling the devs for centuries that Queens need to be nerfed, and they just won't listen! I'm cancelling my subscription because my Pawn sucks in PvP.

    I laughed. Out loud.

    Thank you.

I think the op is from swg or something, and the fighting style in swg where you gotta click and aim to shot shit running around like there on crack does suck.

Your reflexes are good, mine aren't, what is the point, we know who is going to win.

A RPG is about the progression, and I am going to buy WAR.  I won't be PvPing, I dunno if I will like it or not in the end.  But I will give it a try, which isn't the case for any "action/shooting" game, which I don't even bother, nor care.

RPGs are popular because they are not based on l33t skills and reflexes.  It might or not be a genius concept, however it is a lot better then "reflexes and skills", which if you want to check out, you already have plenty of options.  In a RPG, there is a satisfaction to see your toon progress and become stronger, to gain an extra 5 hps!  Woot!  He is getting better.  The progression alone is sufficient for someone like me, but I understand it isn't sufficient for every player, thereby why they diversify...yet also why I won't bear raiding enforcement, as after all, if progression is sufficient for me, it is also what is fueling me, and if it end in raiding, I ain't receiving any fuel.

This way the winner is probably the person with the best equipment, skills and who knows when to use the skills.

Your way the winner is the person with the best latency.
