I know a lot of people are waiting for it to come out so we can see for ourselves.  I will give it a whirl!

Huxley is an extremely promising game and has every right to be great. After having hands-on experience at E3 2006 I can say without a doubt it will exceed everyone's expectations upon ALPHA, BETA, and Release.

Webzen is taking its time and is going to release a quality MMOFPS where others have failed.

I'm just going to state on my opinion so don't start chucking your rocks just yet.

Yes the game does look awsome (kind of takes a light side of Gears of War) and it is really a "this gen" graphics... but is that a good thing? To the people that have the $2000 rigs, yes, their money (hopefully) will be well spent on Huxley, for those that don't have deep ass pockets, no you wont be able to run Huxley. I don't have deep ass pockets, so I wont even attempt beta with Huxley. If I get a new rig I might.

Because of the high (assuming now) requirements it may have a fairly low player base, which from what I've heard, will be good. Reason being it's only 8v8 or at max 16v16 (I don't know about 16v16, I'm going off memory here) so no awsome 100 vs 100 epic base battles here. I'm not sure what the game is really about or what to do, I have not read any GDC or interviews for it so I'm limited on info.

Huxley does have the potential to make other developers say "Hey, lets make a MMOFPS!" The games engine will be way too much for any rig to support epic battles, unless they have really good programers or the engine isn't very demanding (it is because of how it looks, but not.... hard to explain but I understand what I'm trying to say lol).

In my opinion (key word noted) Huxley will be so-so, just looks like a FPS with good graphics, with monthly fees, which you could just play UT3. Unless people create an X-Box 360 as their PC... it wont go as good as they want it to be.

    Let the flaming begin!

I haven't heard much about it at all.  At this point I think it will be slightly below average in terms of overall score for MMORPGs that are available.  Just doesn't have much appeal.  One thing is for sure, they need to get their name out there because not many people know about it at all.  Argue all you want but it's just a plain, simple fact.

Not flaming you or anything Jimmylegs but it wont be an MMOFPS if it is only going to be 8vs8 or 16vs16 otherwise it cant be considered an MMO. So it will be 1000+ players a server.  And you really wont need a tricked out PC to play it i play WoW and my PC isint all that great and we are talking about 8 million people playing this game not exactly sure how many servers but im sure it would be over 3000 players per server and i hardly get any lag.

All im saying is if its not gonna be a mass player based server then whats the point of playing this game when we have Halo?

And that is my 2 cents.

I don't really see how it could compete with free FPS at least not in a way that would warrant a payment plan.
  • sturuisturui Member Posts: 25

Webzen have Mu online which is free to play not played it long enough, though I think you need to pay for premium itmes etc. I hope Huxley is free to play but either way I will still pay a monthly fee if the game turns out to be better then PS, at presant it looks impressive.

Yeah except for the fact that it's going to be 100 vs 100. Try again.

the FPS takes place in battlezones, RPG is where it is MMO where you find members for squads and to prep for the battlezones. so part of it is a MMORPG.

So why are they going to call it an MMOFPS?

So why are they going to call it an MMOFPS? Because the game features large servers hosting 5000 players at a time on multiple Persistant battlefields including 100 v 100 battles and it is a first person shooter with. So it has teh persistant world of an MMO and all that jazz and it is also an FPS with rpg elements.

    MMOFPS

Still a bit early to tell. I am persaonally very much looking forward to it as I have ejoyed planetside for quite some time, but Im not sure if it will be the 'next big thing'. It certainly has potential though.

MMOFPS Not just 100v100, but also small playing fields such as 4v4 and 8v8 and so on. They are even available inside the 100v100 battlefields. When you are not in a battlefield, and wandering around the city where the shops are, your character is seen from 3rd person view, and players cannot attack each other. Its an RPG because of progression of character, weapons, and armor.

Like I said I didn't really read up on the whole Huxley thing so I don't have alot to go off of. I wasn't sure if it would be done with 100v100 (or so) battles with a new(er) engine. Technology is a crazy thing, so with enough time they would be able to do it. But like a previous poster it is too early to tell on how it will become.

Because the lacking of a powerhouse, or even a "up-to-date" PC I'm not intrested in Huxley at all, I might watch videos but that is about as far it will go for me.

Judging by how this dev team is handling things (IE still no official forums/constant contradictions)  not very good.

I had high hopes for this game but if this development team is slow with the updates and info know I can only imagine how they are going to be handling things when the game finally does come out.

I still think this current crop of MMOFPS's (Fallen Earth, Twilight War, Huxley) are just fillers untill the big boys (SOE's new spy MMO and Warhammer40k which is rumered to be a MMOFPS) hit.

You see, every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with their surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You spread to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.-Mr.Smith

It's a very promising game and could be teh next big thing, if they don't mess it up,it's also just as important that once you have the user base you start improving the game, adding better features, expanding battlesize ect. So I hope they've prgrammed it for easy upgrades. Otherwise it will fall at the first hurdle.

If Warhammer 40k is a MMOFPS there is no way in hell I'll play Huxley instead of it.

Look at Guild Wars. In my opinion, Huxley is looking very similar to GW in terms of gameplay, the major difference is real-time aiming will replace "targetting".

Huxley will be a sleeper hit from what I've seen.

Huxley will be to Microsoft, in terms of the 360, not to mention the PC based Live service, what many of the 360 launch titles were at the time. There will be aggressive advertising when it is appropriate. At the moment, I think the devs want to keep things quiet.

IMO Huxley will flop within the first year, Webzen generally puts out craptastic grindfests. It will prolly be like that hot ass chick that you always wanted to date then finally got in her pants just to find out her nono spot could be compared to a Sam's Club sized jar of Cool Whip.

Did i just read a post where someone thinks that because they can play WoW on their comp they can play huxley?     Anyway i think huxley is going to be great  However the only reason i think it will be great is because i want it to be great. This game looks like it will be fun and has good graphics but its moving kinda slow.

There it is! when someone says your comp cant play they are talking about video processing power not internet lag. Even if you knew what you were talking about oyu would still be wrong this game is going to be WAY harder on comps from a lag perspective just because its real time fps WoW isnt hard on comps at all even in lag forge. The only reason people lag in there is because there comps are soooo far sub par they cant render all the players.

if that sounded overly harsh or insulting to your intelligence im sorry and its because comparing wow to other games makes my blood boil.
