I think Huxley will definitely require computers much better than the 4-5 year old machines you can play WoW on, it's using the unreal 3 engine isn't it? or did I remember that wrong?, well that's the bad news anyways. The good news is more gamers will probably be upgrading in the next year or two, since a lot of new tech is out and parts are getting much cheaper, and a lot of new games soon will require upgraded machines to play. I think in order for Huxley to attract current fps gamers to pay $15 a month to play, they're going to have to provide a lot of things over the free play games, one of the biggest would probably have to be providing huge interesting playing fields filled with huge battles imo, certainly much bigger than games like battlefield 2. And you will have to make capturing zones/objectives worthwhile for lasting appeal. Planetside did this, but not well enough to keep players interested for long periods of time. It probably won't hold subs if it turns out to be like guildwars too, persistent city zones and the rest are instanced battlegrounds. With some rpg aspects to it, grinding won't be noticeable if they make gameplay fun enough.
If you're going to call it a mmofps, charge it like a mmog, then it should provide the huge involvement from players that other mmog's provide. 100 vs 100 is ok, planetside does 133vs133vs133, so they need to make the battlegrounds as big as possible
Right now it's sitting at 8/10 in my book, hopefully it turns out to be a decent game.
I think Huxley will be a success because it will be the only modern MMOFPS out. All the Planetside holdouts will probably come to Huxley. Also, lots of the people looking for something different (other than the fantasy clones such as vg/wow/lotro/eq2...) may experiment with Huxley.
Bottom line: Huxley will have a monopoly on the MMOFPS market. So even if only a small fraction of gamers like MMOFPS style games, they will all have no viable alternatives.
And it's not just the monopoly aspect... Huxley looks like it will actually be a good game too!

AAH! A troll fire! Quick, pour some Kool-Aid on it!!!
I haven't seen anyone add into this mix the fact that there will be PvE missions to go on as well.
Also, a read about a scenario where one group from faction A goes on a PvE mission, and then a group from faction B goes on a PvE mission and in the center of it all groups A and B meet up inside the mission while the NPCs are running around tearing things up. So in essesnce, it becomes a three way battle.
There's alot of cool ideas being developed with this game.
I think what will ultimately make or break this game is the controls and the UI.
The gameplay looks tons more interesting then anything out now. The graphics look good. It's not another elves and trolls goofy ass dork-filled fanatasy game. (For the love of God will this fantasy MMORPG trend ever die down. So sick of swords and magic)
I really don't see any downside to this game yet. Time will tell though.
And for the record. I'll be playing this one on Xbox 360. Why?

That's awesome about the 3-way action concept. That motivated me! And I agree about the ridiculous copy-cat trend of fantasy games out there. I'm sick of it too. I think I'm going to take a break from those games for a few years and then come back when I can stand the sound of a swordfight or the appearance of a dragon again.
As far as hackers go, I think I'll have to disagree. SOCOM I and SOCOM II were console games full of hackers (gameshark hackers). There are console games with hackers and there are PC games with hackers. There are also console and PC games that are hacker-free. I won't pretend to understand why, but it seems like well-coded and patched games can avoid the hacker problem, no matter what platform they're on.
I believe the Huxley developers probably know what's on the line here and realize they could corner a huge market if they pull this off right. Hopefully they will stay on top of the hackers after release.

well I hope it does well. I think another important thing about MMOs in general is customization and Uniqeness people want to makie there characters as different as possible. I havn't read much up on it and maybe there doing this arledy but making lots of different kinds of guns, looks, add-ons; too make people feel like there character is somewhat unique. Maybe a little like WoW. WoW has a lot of different looks as far as different types of armors, guns and whatnot. Sometimes they can get repeatative as far as graphical but I think in a game like this, it could get away with it. Just my thoughts.

I love the concept, and I hope it does well. But, I am a skeptic so....6/10
