People who say that EvE isn't fun lack imagination.
EvE is so big and lets you do whatever you want with no direction at all. Instead of doing some epic quest for an NPC you have to come up with one on your own. The players create the content in EvE and are a part of it, if you can't do this, then you will be bored.
Thanks everyone for their insight, even the trolls and how it might be exagerated its good to hear both sides of an argument before making a decision. I just have one more question, what is this CCP thing everyone is talking about?
CCP is the company, they do have a bad track. But is not as bad as SOE. lolactually CCP is worse than SOE, SOE never did the horrible and atrocious things that CCP did. CCP < SOE

You can create your own content in real life that is more entertaining than Eve. Honestly, Eve is very very boring, and most people who like it aren't really playing it all that seriously, they are mining while listening to music, watching TV, etc.
The game itself isn't that complicated, and if you turned off the tutorial, besides a few BAD UI problems, don't think the game is more complicated than it is. Its rather simplistic and boring...
To those who wanna say its complicated, they are seriously mistaken. The voice-over intro would like you to think its complicated, but seriously its not that difficult....The fact that CCP is corrupt and cheaters in their own game is hard to dispute when a GM admitted his wrongdoing....CCP has tried hard to put a lid on this, so much so that you really have to wonder how much more corruption are they hiding that hasn't come to light yet....We know they cheated for BOD in a fight, and that BOD has extra info that most corps don't know.....
The only thing that comes to mind is the poor UI, its ADD Bookmark, its hidden a little in people & places.....other than that, its not that complicated

From what i read a lot of people seem to hate CCP for whatever they did, im not even sure yet, ive seen no evidence. so can someone tell me what they did with some real evidence.
There is not a single MMORPG on the market that could compete with EvE Online in quality. Im really amazed about the work done by CCP and they continue to develop it all the time, adding new cool features. Want quick action? Go to WoW, GW, LoTR, etc. Want a really indepth game? Try EvE. It maybe will take monthes to get into, but then you will never turn back

SOE did something even worse that made me do something in RL. Bringing up an expansion and discredit everything two weeks later. I had to go to BBB to FORCE them to return my money. Took days of my free time to do all that crap. Also everything I did in 2 years of gaming went to the trash on one single update. (when they changed the combat system yet again).
Whatever the Devs of EVE did, is already fixed. Because my game play haven't changed. There is new features which are great. This cheating business, it hasn't affected me at all. What has affected me is the Great War. Thanks to it, Minerals and other items I sell go for a higher price. They probably dealt with the matter internally.
Every company has it's misdeeds, you won't find a single company in this human world without dirt beneath their feet. The question really is... Are you having FUN in the game, or not? If you do, stay with it. If not, go away.

What is to really play? What is the definition of playing? Don't go to the dictionary... What is the definition of playing for you? What is it that you want to achieve by playing? For instance, what I want is to have fun. Sometimes I have my TV on, sometimes I play consoles, sometimes i put music. While I was playing SWG, WOW (Raiding), EQ2, GW, RTS games, FPS, EVE. It doesn't matter, my fun is to multitask, if I'm not multitasking I feel like something is missing. Yes, I do other things while playing EVE. And not just mining.
The game is not complicated, is complex. Those two words are different. Complicated is that is difficult or hard to do. Complex is that it has a lot of different singularities which you have to learn to use it properly.
You are trying to bat too many things to discredit the game, that is a fools game you are playing. You are just discontent with the game.

so, the actions of ccp have actually ruined the game itself? as in, it is no longer playable as anything other than a carebear-joke-fest version of hello kitty:island adventure? with the original HK:IA being total hardcore compared to the new mod?
because that is what soe did with swg. then they jacked over the vanguard folks. not to mention they created eq, which introduced the timesink stupidity of all time --- RAIDING. raiding, the thing that requires no skill at all, just infinite patience and time. oh, and they've got mxo too right?
so, they make craptastic games and RUINED swg, for all intents and purposes.
sorry, don't think ccp ruined the game itself. they ruined people's ability to trust anything they say/do, which oddly enough, doesn't destroy the game, just makes you cautious if you're fighting BOD, cuz odds are, you're going to lose some expensive toys if you do, because of cheating.
seriously... go find the ownerer and let him show you all the ways your statements are wrong.

Well..I love eve. But yes people will try to trick/scam/kill/mob/swarm/ransom/back-stab you. Thats one aspect of fun. Always being on the lookout for trouble. I love mining and industry. And hunting ppl. But it dose take a WILE to get remotely decent. I'm Rebal 88 in game and very willing to help you. The corp im in is amazing and very friendly. If you do ill try to help you. Because you will probably be very confused. but DO THE WHOLE TUTORIAL. then i sugest joining a good corp to get help. Good luck. Hope you try eve! on send me a pm on these forums

Want quick action? Go to WoW, GW, LoTR, etc.
