For many reasons, most personal I wont play LOTRO atm. But I consider to play it after a few months.
IMO LOTRO has a really good chance to be a very successful game, maybe 2nd best western MMO right after WOW. While its not perfect and has its flaws, it has a lot a strengths and a good design basis to build on, unlike other MMOs whose design concept is so screwed, they are essentially lost (I am talking about Vangaurd).
I really wish LOTRO luck. The company had many bad shots with MMOs and deserve luck. But on top, if LOTRO really gets 500k+ subs early off its the best revenge against Mr-wannaba-McQuaid from Vanguard who screwed a MMO even tho he had 40 million dollars and 100 ppl at hand. Making a good MMO is not entirely a matter of SIZE or DOLLARS or whatever the arrogant Sigil guys think, so good luck LOTRO! Avenge me by being successfull! >:D

there is no topic in this thread. LotRO has a large number of preorders - Big surprise #1 ... Guys that expected something different / too much bash it for not being the wet dream they wanted it to be - Biiiig surprise #2...
It's a absolutely average release, some love the game, some hate it, many will play it, many won't. The haters will eventually stop uber-spamming and move on... Other games that really WERE unfinished or programmed sub-par may achieve different results in bashing/hating/fanboying habit... But not this one, not this one...
If 700,000 people preordered it then there would be 700,000 people playing it right now. But there is only 200,000 at most playing now. And that includes the people who are playing the open beta and didn't preorder So there is only 150,000 or so preorder people playing. So either you are lying about the preorder numbers, or 80% of the people who preordered hate the game so much that they don't play anymore.
