The difference between the "Vanbois" and the "Flamers" are really quite simple:
A Flamer tells you they bought it already and if you want to save $50+ and a headache, here is what they found to be wrong. While a Vanboi tells you they have played every game from pong to the not yet released (insert name) this is clearly the best there has or will ever be.
A Flamer rants about how they feel tricked after spending money on a "Beta" product, while the Vanboi explains how lucky we are to be a part of the Vision and should understand the company was poor after spending $40 million. They will then, as they do here, try and put a spin on it where you should feel ashamed because your only out $50.
A Flamer tells you how on their high end rig their getting 5 FPS with an 8800, while the Vanboi tells you their running max settings on a 5 year old blunt edged PC. Both of course are full of it.
A Flamer will tell you to cut your losses and walk away as no hardware at this time will make the game run as intended. A Vanboi will link you to hardware sites and suggest $1,000+ in upgrades...a piece at a time, then proclaim how you will now be ready to receive the vision six months from now.
Me? I play the game for what it is without putting much salt in either side. If I had to choose a side it would be with the "Flamers" simply because they don't try to make people spend more money to stay. In my world, $50 gives you a right to complain. If VG really wanted to crush the "Flamers" it would be simple. Offer a refund and tell anyone that bitches to take their money back or shut the hell up.
Heh, the mass of haters is opposed by just as many vanbois who refuse to listen to anything but praise for the game. both sides of the same coin, end up drowning out any real discussion of the game by people who are either playing it, or those who did play it, but no longer do.
Then again just another poor business decision by sigil imo, because every general affiliate site out there, has basically identical posts reguarding the game. Sigil says the signal to noise ratio is bad on this site, when they are mostly responsbile for the fact that all the sites have the same problem,by not having centralized forums.
As I remember it these forums were very positive about Vanguard, with remarks such as "this will be the best MMORPG for the next 3 years, pre-order it now before it's too late!!!!!" ......................................... Then Vanguard was released ..............

Anyone can tell you that these forums are basically a joke. Obidom is right, even Brad McQuaid commented on it. The majority of the posts here are basically just immature haters and trolls trying to skew the public opinion on the game, simply because they want to bring the game down for their own petty vengeance. They don't care that thousands of people are having fun playing the game. Hell I've even seen the regular trolls flat out lie and make things up in order to try and trash the game. Whether they're just childish petty fools, or trying to bash the game in order to promote their own (for example, lotro), or they just have a hate on for SOE, you really aren't going to get any worthwhile conversation about Vanguard on these forums. Funny thing is, if the game really were that bad, they wouldn't need to spend all these incredible amounts of time trying to bash the game.

Even Silkyvenom isn't the lovely VG retreat it used to be. People are starting to wake up from their VG comas and relising that the vision has gone down the toilet, the game is nothing new, and certainly not worth a subscription. Although some people enjoy the game for what it is. You know what I say to that? Good for them. Fun = good.

Aye thats the beauty the affilate sites, I mean for a mmorpg thats supposibly dying the amount of action on thoese boards is pretty intense, the real shame is that people who come to mmorpg looking for something to play will get alot of information which is just well not really realistic, sad thing it's for sure affecting the mmorpg industry as a whole.

You have your own games devs admitting how many mistakes they made, and the pathetic numbers of actual subscribers telling the real story, this game is a turkey. Haters don't have to 'try" to do anything, this game falls flat on its own.
In my case I got conned out of over $100 for two copys of the game. Nobody should accept getting scammed by an incomplete, poorly designed, poorly written product.That's why so many pounce all over this "game".
One of the things that most tripped me out about MMORPG.com was the fact that anyone who didn't like VG and had very valid opinions on it were put down as a SOE hater, or had a 2003 budget P.O.S. system, or posted purely because Vanguard was attracting the WOW crowd like flies on faeces, so we had one choice, watch WOW die or come to MMORPG.com and put shit on Vanguard to stem the flow.
I was none of these... I never played SWG, so I don't hate SOE, and if I did play SWG, I am pretty sure I would have moved on a long time ago, some don't, that is their choice. I can't say I agree with folks having an opinion on something they haven't experienced, but hey, what can you do?
I don't have a shitbox PC either, and I am pretty sure I have one that is better than most of the guys (they tend to post their specs, when they post their ultra-amazing framerates, along with their screenshots that don't look all that good really) that preach to you all that they get fantastic performance, and are bug free too. They must have got a different version of the game. I am not saying they are lying, I just don't really believe them...
I don't care about WOW. I don't care about LOTRO. Nor SOE... Nor Sigil.
I played Vanguard on release, and I was disappointed, pure and simple... I expressed that... Funnily enough, Mr Mcquaid said similar things to what I was saying, later... You can see by my star rating, which has dropped significantly, that I have moved on, and I only post here right now to dispel the BS notion that everyone that thought Vanguard was subpar is a moaning SWG victim, that has a shit PC, a vested interest in some other MMORPG, played the game only in beta 2... or any other deluded nonsense reason that the fans of the game like to conjure up... I posted here because I didn't like the game on a technical level (i.e. performance, bugs, etc), this game to me was unacceptable and I said that straight out. I imagine others did the same... But I also know for a fact that some people that have never touched the game, try to make out they have (or straight out admit they never have, wtf, how can they have an opinion?) put crap on the game constantly, and really have no business doing so...
They should talk about something they know... But don't make an ass out of yourselves... the game is far from perfect, and everyone bloody knows it. Currently I am playing WOW (but I was so keen on making Vanguard my long term home, on paper it sounds ace, on paper that is), you don't see me jumping in the WOW forums here screaming for censorship, and for everyone to conform to the opinion "WOW is the bestest game in the world"... Do you?

A Vanboi troll started this thread... with the express purpose of drawing angry responses from VG critics/flamers... why complain when the expected result occurs.
Very few VG threads in these forums are legitimate discussions about gaming issues, they are either attempts to bash VG or exhalt VG... and they get an appropriate response.
People come to these forums to argue, disagree and challenge each other... expecting anything else isn't realistic.
And one reason you see so much flaming here is the official forums ...no wait..I mean the VG fansites won't let you do it on their forums so people come to a more neutral one like MMORPG to battle.
Most of us enjoy what happens here...which is why we keep reading a posting on them.... if we didn't... we'd go away....

The only person who has lost any credibility what-so-ever is Brad, a man I used to respect. You know what? You sound just like him. So mmorpg.com is losing credibility because YOU THINK that the game is great and that most if not all of the 'haters' have nothing better to do. Nice.
Also the LOTR forums are nothing like here, I post there all the time, all negative posts towards the game (that are reasonable) as of late have been replied with understanding and even kindness.

It's people like you that make these forums a joke. Honestly I have never seen someone talk out of their ass as much as you on these forums. I have also seen you blatantly bash games like LotRO for no reason other than because you can. You are no better than any troll on these forums.
Even Silkyvenom isn't the lovely VG retreat it used to be. People are starting to wake up from their VG comas and relising that the vision has gone down the toilet, the game is nothing new, and certainly not worth a subscription. Although some people enjoy the game for what it is. You know what I say to that? Good for them. Fun = good.

Oh my god... I'm getting dizzy from all the hypocrisy.You have your own games devs admitting how many mistakes they made, and the pathetic numbers of actual subscribers telling the real story, this game is a turkey. Haters don't have to 'try" to do anything, this game falls flat on its own.
I was none of these... I never played SWG, so I don't hate SOE, and if I did play SWG, I am pretty sure I would have moved on a long time ago, some don't, that is their choice. I can't say I agree with folks having an opinion on something they haven't experienced, but hey, what can you do?
I don't have a shitbox PC either, and I am pretty sure I have one that is better than most of the guys (they tend to post their specs, when they post their ultra-amazing framerates, along with their screenshots that don't look all that good really) that preach to you all that they get fantastic performance, and are bug free too. They must have got a different version of the game. I am not saying they are lying, I just don't really believe them...
I don't care about WOW. I don't care about LOTRO. Nor SOE... Nor Sigil.
I played Vanguard on release, and I was disappointed, pure and simple... I expressed that... Funnily enough, Mr Mcquaid said similar things to what I was saying, later... You can see by my star rating, which has dropped significantly, that I have moved on, and I only post here right now to dispel the BS notion that everyone that thought Vanguard was subpar is a moaning SWG victim, that has a shit PC, a vested interest in some other MMORPG, played the game only in beta 2... or any other deluded nonsense reason that the fans of the game like to conjure up... I posted here because I didn't like the game on a technical level (i.e. performance, bugs, etc), this game to me was unacceptable and I said that straight out. I imagine others did the same... But I also know for a fact that some people that have never touched the game, try to make out they have (or straight out admit they never have, wtf, how can they have an opinion?) put crap on the game constantly, and really have no business doing so...
They should talk about something they know... But don't make an ass out of yourselves... the game is far from perfect, and everyone bloody knows it. Currently I am playing WOW (but I was so keen on making Vanguard my long term home, on paper it sounds ace, on paper that is), you don't see me jumping in the WOW forums here screaming for censorship, and for everyone to conform to the opinion "WOW is the bestest game in the world"... Do you?
