why do i see posts like this, whining about other people's opinions, but i don't see these *people with opinions* posting indepth reviews about said game?
If you are directing your post at me, you must have missed the part of my post that said "I don't care about you"... You can read many in-depth fantastical reviews by others, they go along the lines of:
Graphics 15 out of 10
For optimal performance, be sure to move into a home situated on a ley line...It also help if there is a solar eclipse, and be sure to not have an Nvidia card, nor one of those try-hard ATI cards either... tweak the .ini file, then just like me, you can play on balanced settings and get 54 fps in the wilderness and 2 frames when ya bump into another fellow ini file tweaker... Did I mention the vistas? Surely you've heard of the vistas, you can see for miles.... sure you can't see mobs 10 feet in front of you, when you get to 9 feet they'll just pop into existence, no graphics techniques skipped in the production of Vanguard let me assure you Yada Yada.
Sound 12 out of 10
I am sure it is good, I turned it off to get better graphics performance though, but this is Vanguard, it must be brilliant sound. Yada yada.
Quests 26 out of 10
The quests are so different to standard MMORPG fare.... I was playing as a Dark Elf, and had to drink poison!! Can ya believe that, POISON!!! Nearly killed me too, blew my mind... And you don't just get kill x of y quests from clay NPCs, you get them from spinning missive boards too (those that have been activated, at least), that just float in the air, and stick out like a sore thumb... This is 3rd generation questing at its best yada yada.
And so on. The epitome of an objective review to be sure.
Oh my god... I'm getting dizzy from all the hypocrisy.
Vanguard forums tend to do that, too bad you think i'm a hypocrite. The funny thing is though, the fanbois calling haters liars, when their own personal creator of the game they love, spewed lies everywhere before it's release. That is the point I am making. This proves how blind someone can be when a 'big-wig' like Brad posts more marketing bullshit and claims he is apologising. On a forum that is barely even public.
It's just all very funny, I know there is little point in arguing about it.
Vanguard has done one good thing. It has shown all future developers exactly what not to do when it comes to creating an mmorpg.

L2 advertised flying mounts and castle sieges. Players came to the game expecting such but found they had to wait 3 months for sieges to be implemented. Longer for the mounts and then they were only flyable by the head of a castle-owning clan. There are more castles now, but at the time that was a max of 5 players from a server of 1000s.
I know you have returned to L2, a game so riddled with botters and cheaters it really only becomes something you can overlook if you dont care for the game all that much. I played 2 years of the cycle "we have banned x amount/upgraded GG" only to see the pro-farmers return within days EVERY TIME. Unfortunately as NCNA have little to no control over the game they really do have their hands tied. Not surprising the game peaked at 100k "US" players - US = US/North and South American/European/Australasian.
At least we can talk to the VG dev's. Can you?

There is no such thing as my game and your game.
Besides I am only playing L2 because it will fill the small void I have before the new mmo's hit the shelf, as you can see I am subscribed to WoW as well.
I have stated numerous times I enjoy VG.
But nice one on attacking a game that has nothing to do with this thread.
Also L2 did two things. What you mentioned and a PvP system that is both fun and rewarding. Where are VG's innovations? Oh yeah that's right they all died with the vision.
Also the bots have toned down a shitload. Not to mention the game cost me a measly 25 dollars AUD with 45 days of gametime.
Lol I can't stop laughing at the fact you based your whole post on L2.
If VG was even half the success it was meant to be, I assure you we would all be playing it right now.

Talk to them about what hahahaha
Do remind them how much you love to kiss their ass?
The VG devs can't even listen to themselves, nor do they have the skills to bring VG back on par with a newly released game.
People won't accept beta trash anymore, this shows through VG's subs (or lack of subs). The standard is being raised, just look at LotRO, the game is more polished than VG could ever hope to be, and that was in closed beta. It's even more polished now with a few more features thrown in. Want an example of devs listening? Just look at Turbine and LotRO.
You obviously see VG as your mmo and your agenda, which is quite hilarious that you take that much pride in a game that in the end only wants nothing more than what is in your wallet.

I based my post off of your point about Brad and what he promised. Just exemplifying that the complaints about L2 were no different.
@Kairbare. You have obviously never played L2 if you think you can compare the cheats and pros in that game to any other. Fortunately in 3 months of playing VG I have yet to spot a bot though I have had one mail and one tell from people trying to sell powerlevelling services and gold. Both of these players were removed from the server very soon after I petitioned them.
For the record I used to defend the L2 devs when it came to removing bots. I was pretty high-profile on the forum boards when I played. Whenever I reported a bot they used to be removed from the game after a decent investigative time. (Ha, I remember a Davidboy coming back as a DAVIDBOY, and finally a DavidBoy before he finally had the nonce to stop using a recognised name). Anyway, after a while of having clan mates tell me "ive reported this bot 3 times in the last 3 weeks" over and over again, I came to the conclusion that it was only my official forum activity that made the devs take notice of my reports while ignoring my non-official forum using clan mates.
At least in VG, we cant claim Official Forum favoritism

So what does the complaints about L2 having no difference to what happend with VG and Brad have anything to do with the discussion? It's just a copout, a subject turn around, from all the praise you were receiving from the VG fans in the other thread I honestly expected alot better.
So you have nothing decent to add the discussion? Good. Have fun with your game, just don't bother with these forums if you can't reply back without changing the subject.
What's the point of even bringing L2 into it? I know what your agenda was, you assumed it was my prize game, like VG is to you. Well unfortunately you were wrong.

If I have to explain your own post back to you that is more than sad.
"their own personal creator of the game they love, spewed lies everywhere before it's release. That is the point I am making. This proves how blind someone can be when a 'big-wig' like Brad posts more marketing bullshit and claims he is apologising"
"Marketing bullshit," "lies"..these are your words.
And yet, and yet. You play a game that was lacking its FUNDEMENTAL features at launch. A comparable would be if only 1 of the 3 spheres had been had been possible to play at VGs release. You play a game where 12 months after launch the lag was so bad and so wide-spread players were forced out of game for 6 weeks, and half of the participants CTD during a siege.
Im not dissing L2, I love it. What I am trying to do highlight is your hypocrisy.
Brad made a big mistake when he said he would not release VG before it was ready and his naivity left him with egg on his face. However stop and think why he felt compelled to make that "promise." He made it because all MMOs are released "unfinished." That makes VG no different than any of them, and Brad's only "crime" is believing and publically stating that he would do differently with VG.
If you want to shoot someone for trying their best then go ahead. But if you do it on a public forum, do not expect to go unchallenged.

Lol where to start. I wasn't hyped for L2, I wasn't told it would be next-generation, I wasn't told of amazing features that would change mmo's for years to come.
I wasn't around for the launch of L2, but I was for VG.
Brad promised the sun and the moon.
I can't be bothered to get into it, honestly. You obviously never seen the promises, good for you, you wern't exposed to the full intent of the hype. You don't look at VG the same way as I do, you don't look at what it was meant to be, you look at what is there.
Don't give me your 'sad' crap, L2 still has nothing to do with this discussion, your assuming I was around for the L2 launch, in which I wasn't, so therefore I have no idea what happend with L2 and any hills it climbed to reach where it is today. I can only speak of VG.

"I wasn't around for the launch of L2, but I was for VG."
And that says it all really doesnt it? Some people had read the L2 hype, its amazing features that would revolutionise gaming for years to come....well until they release L3 at least.
Had you joined a game to siege, but found you couldnt Im sure you wouldnt be happy. Had you joined a game that boasted how your clan could grow in power and then got frustrated to discover the clan quests hadnt even been implemented, youd have probably been screaming on L2 fansites to this day. Had your poor eyes suffered at the lack of word wrap and badly translated dialogue and in-game instructions you'd probably have thrown your rig out the nearest window.
The fact is, L2 took a lot of time to get to the state it is today. A state where you can enjoy it. If everyone reacted like you to launch issues then the game would have been cancelled in NA and you would never have had the opportunity to try it and enjoy it as you do currently.
Think about that while you're pulling VG to pieces and trying to give bad press to a man and a game that doesnt justify it.

Fair enough but Brad was disregarding other gaming companies to promote his own, including his ex-company who in a funny twist now publishes his game. This has been talked about many times before.
We have hit the same mark somewhat besides a heated conversation KariTR. L2's launch doesn't excuses VG's however. And the main reason I press on this, believe or not, is because I purchased VG and would LOVE to see it acheive what it was meant to acheive. It's not because I hate the game, I just hate alot of the decisions that have been made. Very poor decisions.
Anyways, I know I was being a bit rash, i'm sorry for that, but don't get me wrong about the whole situation. I'd love to pick up my game box and reinstall the game asap when it improves.

I hope that day comes soon enough for you Alryth. Meanwhile have fun at the sieges...I miss them.
This is one of Sigil no longer visit i believe brad commented on teh signal to noise ratio in MMORPG
The whiner Brad uses any means neccesary to shut up VALID complaints! Vanguard has so many problems it deserves flames, and so does its lousy dev! Vanguard is bug loaded, and like EQ1 bugs won't be fixed for the most part. The system requirements are stupidily steep. The thing needs insane memory due to plain piss poor programming. The moron made group requirements when most people would like to solo at least a bit, and higher levels are slow and boring. The game is on the edge of cancellation, and good riddance.
I play on a 256mb 7900GT with 1gb RAM...yeh, really insane
At 37 (dinged last night) I am soloing just fine. As I play with a friend on the other side of the ocean the majority of my game session is played solo.
Higher level content has either been implemented since the first players max'd or they didnt explore enough. Im currently spoilt for choice as to hunting areas - there are several to choose from.
I think you might be right to cancel as this game doesnt appear to be for you. That or try another class.
As a sidenote, a lot of the complaints (not from you, but in general) would seem to indicate that gamers these days really lack initiative and social skills. IMO a good MMORPG requires both; players should never be able to "walkthru" the game.

Vanguard is riddled with botters and cheaters as well, until you posted this I didn't know VG and L2 had so much in common.
L2 NA is in the unusual but fortunate position of having all their patches pre-tested on the Korean live servers. There is a good 3/4 months between expansions being released in KR and the US so the US explansion comes with a plethora of patches, meaning players of the US version dont have to suffer all the fixes that broke something else, etc.

VG has bugs but is not "bug-loaded"
Bugs are being fixed all the time
I play on a 256mb 7900GT with 1gb RAM...yeh, really insane
