To be honest I didn't read all the posts but I always seem to stumble upon that "The True Gamer" nonsense.
So you are telling me that this "True Gamer" would choose a PC over an Xbox360 any time? Don't make me laugh! Multiplayer gaming is a lot more fair and equal on the 360 then it could ever be on a PC. Everyone on a 360 has the same controls, the same hardware and as a cherry on top -> no cheaters...
I have to admit that the first day I got my 360 (and I was playing Oblivion) I didn't like the controls at all. During the coming week I was adjusting the sticks a bit and at the end of this week I was convinced never ever to use a keyboard and a mouse again for playing a first-person view game. That moment you actually get control over your 360 control is enlightening. Wah... if I think about all these nights playing CS... key's getting stuck... mouse getting stuck... lag... I won't ever return to this.
After owning a 360 for a couple of months PC gaming seems more and more retarded to me.
Oh by the way Age of Conan is coming out on the 360 as well...
Now finally for these "True Gamers", check this out, ask them politely for a clan-war and then we can talk about true gamers again.

Nice comments, but WTF?! with the crazy german link to a crazy german site with a crazy german wideo on random names like "comb.at" and "cerni". anyway 360's gona own juu PC-ers as better RPG's and MMO's like AoC slowly creeping towards 360.
I duno about you americans with ur dollars but here 360 is £280 whilst a ok pc £1000 and a really good on £1500 to £2000. Yeah we have to pay like twice as much monthly, its rascist cause were white.
Yeah we have to pay like twice as much monthly, its rascist cause were white.
Man, I hope you were joking with that comment. Most Americans are white. The numbers are shifting, but since around the turn of the 20th century, the majority of Americans were white. Then again, we Americans have different definitions of race than the rest of the world. Between Bosnia and Croatia there are supposed to be about 400 different ethnic groups. If you lined them all up against a wall and asked an American to determine their race, most of us would just declare them all white. Likewise here in America, we consider Irishmen, Scotts, and Italians as white and I understand that the rest of the world disagrees with that. Let me break down the racial division in America:
White, non-hispanic
Black, non-hispanic
Native American
Asian
Hispanic
That's it. That's all the races we recognize. Although we may recognize different ethnicities such as middle eastern or Hindu, but that's not the same as race and poorly defined.
Anyway..... Most things are less expensive in the US. If you think you have it bad, try buying most of your products with the currency of Kenya or Brazil. White people ALWAYS have it better than everyone else. That's changing, but it'll be awhile yet before whites are completely equal with everyone else.
Let me put this down here, as I basically did a comparison due to having a REAL 360 fanboy as my roommate (and brother).
Price I wont argue, but let me get to ounce for ounce power here.... the results were suprising....
1) speed: In all honesty, CPU speed the 360 pretty much has a commanding lead in theory. I do not know how well this translates, but it concists of 3 3.2 Ghz cores. RARELY, you will find a quad-core processor on a PC, which will compete and maybe come even to this assuming the games support it. But for the most part, the Dual cores that are everywhere cant hold a candle to the theoreitcal combined speed.
2) Hard drive space: This is something no PC has to think about, as we have giant ones growing out of... well I wont say where. But 360s until VERY rescently had to really manage this, because they ahd about 14 gigs to play with functionally. Nice for a console until you start downloading massive demos and the like.
3) Video speed: Im going to guess about the same here, but thats only because I dont know how ATi makes note of this.. but it seems about the same.
But this, this is the bottleneck I found....
4) RAM: the AVERAGE PC has 512MB to 1 Gig today... maybe 2. How much does 360 have? 512. And not 512 RAM, 512, SHARED RAM... it shares this between the CPU and the video... it's flexible and can use any percentage for iether... but its still stuck with 512 total... which will prove the real bottleneck for power, if you ask me in the next few years.
In the end, Ill admit, I like the PC, but I thought I would share this with you.
Well, I'm not sure if someone said it already, but I don't feel like reading through all these posts. I'll keep it short and sweet in this case.
One thing you must remember is that the 360 is relatively new, and may be a competitor now, but the life span of consoles are long (the ps2 and xbox could have lasted another 2-3 years) and the 360 will be around for another 8 years (give or take). In due time, PCs will be much better than 360.
personally, I prefer PC gaming, the PC has lots of games I like, & the Xbox 360 has maybe 1 game I like (NHL 07, but I play that on my laptop anyways)
I don't look at the price or power of consoles & computers, I look at what games I will enjoy & how many games I will enjoy, & that's why I'm sticking with the PC, the games I enjoy are on the PC.
I didn't realize there were so many WoW clones...seeing WoW was the first MMO ever made..oh wait, wasn't there something before WoW, another MMO or 2 or 3 or ....
There are only two MMOs on the 360 (or only one, depending on how you count). It's really no contest, PC is by far the best platform for MMOs currently. For any offline game available for both I'd rather be on a console, but that doesn't happen too frequently. Lots of games come out on PC that never come out on consoles, and vise versa.
I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
Any true gamer would go with PCs to game. Every game that is out there is always better on the PC as long as you have a PC with better resouces than your console. I stopped playing consoles a few years back and probably won't ever go back. I run the Nvidia SLIi mobo have 4 gigs of ram P4 duo 3.2 processor with GeForce 7600GS vid card. I will be getting the new 8800GTX before AoC comes out and hoping to upgrade to 8 gigs of ram and yes I am running Vista x64 Ultimate. How else are you going to get the benifits of AoC is you are not running Vista in Areo mood? The game is suppose take advantage of this feature.

I would definitely have to say PC, there are many reasons why PC is much better than Xbox 360. I use to play console games years back as well but I wouldnt got back to it either. IMO, pretty much every game you play, a keyboard and mouse is the most accurate! whether its a MMORPG or a FPS. More buttons (keys) to choose from, whether from switching weapons or choosing spells. PC's will always be more powerful than consoles of course and cost more because if you think about it, IT IS A COMPUTER! it can do 100 times more than a console can or more! Xbox is a "console" and only has limits, computers can go way beyond that. If you want to play the best, you better get a job or ask your parents for money! Too much video games are never good anyhow ;D
I think it depends on what you want, for instance alot of pc games have bugs or perofmrance problems due to poor release and etc, but consoles are in more demand to release there games correctly, and if alot more mmorpgs come out on console I think performance will be better. And lets not forget they will release games for 360 for probably a long time so why not purchase one and use the cpu for other stuff?
You really do not need to super upgrade your graphics all the time, the truth is on consoles they release very fun games and I always have way more fun on console games then pc games, but there are those few pc games which are fun. And t he fact 360 is coming out with mouse and keyboard saids alot it is deffinatly a worth purchase.
If you really have the time and money to tweak your cpu and like doing it then yea pc is probably more for you but your sacrificing not being able to play cool games that you might want to play, they both have there ups and downs folks.
If I where to choose one I would deffinatly choose 360, why? Well they release alot of great games and the fact there allowing mmorpgs on the consoles is just telling me another reason why 360 is better for me.
silly argument............ Xbox 360, PS3 and WII are already dated compared to the newest PC gear.... Can you say GF 8950FX(soon)in SLI with 4 gigs of PC 8500, an overclocked QX6700 cpu with lots of water cooling.
Ya ya.... I know... if you cant afford it get a fckin job...
That makes alot of sense considering the economy is going downhill and the vaule or a dollar is going down rapidly
And not everyone has the kind of job where you make that kind of money, some people need to spend it on more important things instead of getting a hardon over constantly upgrading there computer, like supporting a family and etc.
Console gaming is better if you like playing solo on some games but have to buy many games over a short period of time kinda stretches the budget instead of like an online PC game that can be cheap and last a few months (not saying Consoles wont have the same with some of the rpgs) but overall with controls and updates PC>COnsole

As far as games go, if you want to play MMO's, its obviously a PC you want; This could change in the future though, only time will tell but true MMO's on a console is inevitable, theres too much profit potential in them.
For everything else, including FPS games, id pick the consoles; Why? Because PC gaming has been stagnating for a very long time now, and a big reason for this is because of MMO's. They make so much money, companies make less and less games in other genre's. Look at your local PC game selection at best buy, its very small and most of them are MMO's now. There was a time when every electronics store had a huge PC game selection, with *good* games from every genre, it was hard to make up your mind.
Now what do you see, WoW, a bunch of games that look like WoW, a very few FPS games, and basically for anything else you have to go to the bargain bin. We get an occasionally decent RTS game, but companies are still trying to copy warcraft 3 in that genre.
We have what, one semi-new, decent and innovative FPS on PC; Half-life 2. For Christ sake they are still pumping out World war 2 themed FPS's. I've been playing PC games since the old days of "castle" and "yahtzee", before games even had color and where made mostly of symbols. Pc gaming hit its peak around 2000, and ever since then its really gone down hill.
Remember games like Freespace, adventure games, racing games for PC that wern't cheap ports, good games that wern't made by blizzard? If you don't then you really have no idea how great PC gaming used to be. Then the dot com era ended, alot of great companies that only made PC games went out of business ; This with the MMO boom means that if you want a decent game thats not an MMO, you probably won't find it on PC; Even our RTS's have gotten stale and lack innovation. Even newer FPS games in the works are being made more with the consoles in mind than a PC, the new unreal engine has had huge amounts of developement effort put into it just for it to run perfect on the consoles, where as older Unreal tournament games were made for PC first then ported whichever way worked to consoles, and often lost alot of features in the process; Now its the other way around.
this argument seems more to me like a controller vs mouse, or desk vs couch debate. I'd rather play games on teh xbox, but the most fun I have in warcraft is making mods so that has to be pc, or I should say it was the most fun until 2.0. I'd rather play gears of war with a mouse, but I'd also rather play it on the couch.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You? if I were to kill a titan tomorrow and no CCP employees showed up to say grats I would petition it. Waiting for: the next MMO that lets me make this macro if hp < 30 then CastSpell("heal") SpellTargetUnit("player") else CastSpell("smite") end

True Fantasy Live online (cry), SWG (announced for PS2), both cancelled....I'm sure there were some others. EQOA bit horrifically (though I did spend some time with it) and FFXI ran like poop on the PS2 (not enough ram).
Don't get me wrong, I honestly prefer gaming from my couch in general. The first time a decent MMO for 360 (or PS3 for that matter) gets released I'll run right out and buy one. But PSU bites (I own it for PS2) and FFXI is for folks that have more spare time than I've had since I was 14. I would have seriously bought a 360 to play AA on it (yes I'm that desperate to play a MMO from my couch with a gamepad). But I'm definitly in wait and see mode for the time being.

...um.... need we all remember Call of Cthulhu and Morrowind, where the console was treated as a testing ground for the PC release?
This is the ONE downside to giving a console a hard drive... now it can update too! which means bugs are more accepted cause they can be weeded out with updates!
However, this I honestly believe will be moot in within a decade at the latest... especialy with 360. I honestly believe in the next generation or so, we will see a merge of software between windows and whatever MS calls their next console... I look forward to it.
1. Console controllers suck (strictly my subjective opinion of course). When consoles ship with mouse and keyboard, and that's the standard gaming device, I'll buy one. Until then, no. So if that's the case, price and power are irrelevant. It's like someone offering to sell you a big stinking turd. Do you want it if they drop the price? How about if they make it extra stinky? Nope, it's still a turd.
2. Have you seen the new July 22 Price Cuts for Intel? If you're thinking about a new PC it's gonna be a great time to build one.
Console gaming is better if you like playing solo on some games but have to buy many games over a short period of time kinda stretches the budget instead of like an online PC game that can be cheap and last a few months (not saying Consoles wont have the same with some of the rpgs) but overall with controls and updates PC>COnsole

Well you spend anywhere between 400-800 dollars on these consoles, 50-60 bucks per game, then if you were to play the mmo you would have couple of more monthly payments. Then you have 40 dollar controllers then possible upgrades. Really its not much cheaper than a PC and a console you have to buy a complete new one every 2-3 years. A PC you can upgrade for not much more, not to mention you can use windows 98 games on windows xp and vista but you'll have a worse time playing games on previous consoles on latest (with the exception of the Wii and xbox(true?!))
Dont get me wrong i've done my fair share of console gaming, but what it comes down to is i'd rather spend 1000 dollars on a PC that I can customize to the way i want and play the games i want and not have to worry about getting 2 different consoles to get the games i want AND be able to multitask and do other things on it as well other than play games. I know XBOX and PS are coming along way and getting even closer to PC's with each generation but htey still have a way to go.
BUT DONT FORGET, the xbox also has keyboard and mouse hookups but it doesnt mean it'll have the same goodness that a PC has.
