At least 32 people dead. That number is expected to rise. This is so horrifying I can't even sleep.

Consider the perception...many many media in U.S. that reach globally. Some shooting you will probably never hear about in some other country, which is just as tragic. If you live in U.S. obviously you will hear more about local shootings than ones that happen outside U.S.

So, you're trying to tell me that guns cause people to kill?

It doesn't matter if it's guns, knives, clubs, ropes, or bare hands...it's the wacked-out individuals who cause these things to happen!

WHY DO THESE THINGS HAPPEN FAR MORE FREQUENTLY IN THE US THAN IN ALL OTHER COUNTRIES COMBINED? In other words: why does the US produce more psychopaths than all the other countries on the face of the planet combined?

They have confirmed 22 dead and 29 wounded right now on CNN. This is horrible and I don't know what influenced this shooter to do this.

EDITED to correct number of deaths.

But sure seem to be a common weapon in the US. We cant look away from the fact that they only cause more trouble. With less guns, less murders will occur.

Think of it as this, you have a gun hiddin under your shirt, a guy sitting next on you on the bus starts going on your nerves, when you try to move he spits at you and punches you from behind, now think if you were a psychopath in this situation, or juts a not so very stable person mentally, what would you do? If you on the other hand didn't have a gun, chances are so much bigger a murder didn't have to occur at this very situation. Perhaps you would beat him down, yet enough time that someone would have a great chance of stopping you before it would turn lethal.

Why do you think that someone that pulls out a gun and shoot's someone is a psycho? That doesen't make a psycho. EVERWHERE there are crazy people, there are shootouts, people die everyday. This is just not in the US and it's not more or only in the US. Think of a bigger picture, the world for instance.

That is completely untrue. The biggest reason why we call them "criminals" is because they don't follow the law. What makes you think they will follow gun laws? And they won't follow the gun laws as they have told us time and time again through actually doing it and by telling us it in interviews in jail. The only people who will follow any gun laws are good law abiding people. Soooo....by the taking guns away you are unarming only the law abiding people.

That is one wierd example and that gun you so vaguely described could have easily been an illegal one and it is definately not enough to warrant a ban on all guns. I can give REAL examples of where guns would have made a bad situation better. For example this woman was licensed to carry a concealed weapon and she did exactly that, except one day she left the gun in her car and went into a diner with her father. Some armed men came into the diner and started murdering people execution style...including her father. She got a away but the damage was already done. Now she wishes she brought the gun into the diner. She could have saved many people and her father. This is a true story.

If there were a ban on guns the criminals would have still came into the diner and shot up everyone with illegal guns and the law abiding people would have no chance.

Guns arent the sole reason violent crime is more prevalent in the United States, but the ease of access to guns (illegal and legal) mean that our violent crimes are more likely to result in fatalities. Look at gang violence in the late 1800s (Irish mostly) and gang violence now. Back then there was just as many conflicts between gangs, but they didnt kill each other because they didnt have guns to use. Now, gang violence almost always involves guns and almost always involves fatalities.

It doesnt help that anti-gun control lobbyists oppose measures to enact gun laws to prevent illegal trade of weapons. It also doesnt help that gun manufacturers produce an incredible amount of hand guns, which exist entirely to kill people and for no other reason.

Fun fact for all you pro-gun people. If you own a gun, you are much more likely to be victimized by gun crime than if you didnt own that gun.

But like I said, the ease of getting guns in the US isnt the only reason for crimes like these. For instance, look at Canada. They have much higher rates of gun ownership than we do, yet have next to no gun crime. The reason we produce more people who use guns to kill others has to do with our media and our economy... but considering these two factors, the addition of guns makes it a situation ripe for violence.

But it is sad that this happened. I feel bad for their families.

making guns illegal won't help for sure. But removing them will.

If there were no guns in the whole world, or weapons for that matter, what would people kill eachother with then? Guns makes killing easier and the more of em the more crazy ideas might be born.

Richard Kuklinsky - the infamous mafia hitman known as "Ice Man" - loved to use cyanide to kill his victims..."no fuss, no muss." he used to say. He killed a couple hundred people with cyanide, guns, fire, clubs, knives, ropes, bombs, gravity, and his bare hands.

There is a reason why there are so many psychopaths in the US...and the American sheeple have no idea what it is! Personally, I think it's a combination of shitty genetics and piss-poor parenting (included in piss-poor parenting would be the fact that most incompetent parents send there children off to the filthy cesspool we call the public school system!)!

Boy the BS is thick in this thread already. Guns are not the damn problem and are not really any deadlier than Blunt or bladed weapons. The main problem here is a culture of victimhood. People are disarmed in places like VT and most of them have most likely been taught not to try to fight back with whatever you can get your hands on. Thousands of people in Africa were slaughtered with clubs and machetes and they outnumbered their attackers by a pretty wide margin. The problem was they were victims and just stood there and took it.

Saying "guns makes killing easier" is true, not a poor argument noir something I speculate around.

The only people allowed to have guns IMO should of course be the ones who can handle them and uses them for the better. The police. Letting civilians have them in their homes I cannot understand. I see no reason to even be able to let your hunting rifles at your own home. But maby it's paranoia speaking here? I for one know nobody or never knew anybody ever owning a gun for personal use. Only my dad who had a couple of hunting rifles or two.

    Thank you for the welcome.

I'm telling you, It just breaks my heart to see this kind of stuff happen. If people would just stand up for themselves and FIGHT, little punks like this shooter wouldn't be so successful. My grandfather survived an attempted carjacking several years ago by Fighting back. His attacker was half my Grandfathers age but my Grandfather simply refused to be a victim. My Great Grandmother was in the backseat and couldn't get away so my Grandfather was not about to let that punk drive away with her in the car or push her out of it severly injuring her due to her age.

And another thing. PLEASE people, pick up a book on the history and function of firearms and get some real knowlege rather than relying on Counter Strike or Hollywood for your firearms knowlege.

Edit: Just because a person wears a badge doesn't mean they know anything about firearms or even how to be proficient with them. You would be SHOCKED to know how many cops know next to nothing about firearms.

Then I'd say it's rather poor that they don't control if the officer can handle the firearm before they are given them. A fault by the police.

    Belgium

    18450 voor 10.355.844 inw = 179/100 000 inw

    Homocide
