I think this game in a few months with a little work, mainly further reducing hithcing and chunking times, more content added , a little polish , and removing the bugs that are left , has the potential of being the best regarded MMO game out there.

It's going to take a lot more than a few months.
More importantly, can they convince anyone to give it another chance, and what do suppose they will try to do to entice folks back? Free 14 day trials, maybe something special to get players who bought the box and quit?

Everyone just continues to say potential and down the road. By the time they get the game right and corrected, other games will already be out and if they are polished from the get go with only a couple bugs, people will jump ship.
Also, your title is going to do nothing but bring "trolls" back here because you are calling them out.
Anarchy Online is a good example of what can be done with this respect. At the time it launched it pushed the graphics envelope and character customization to the limit. It had a huge world with 3 factions, mutliple starting areas, instanced content (the first 3d mmo to have it), vehicles including flying vehicles and only 1 server world. It came out ahead of it's time and the bad lag cuased them to open a second world, the technical glitches were so bad. In the end they fixed the game and it was considered among the gaming press one of the best MMO on the market a year or 2 later. But no one came back to play. To solve this problem they had to make the game free to play and now it has 150k+ players compared to their peak paying customers of about 40k.
Vanguard can't afford to go freeplay so I don't see a solution for them. Maybe SOE can come up with a way to milk it for profit because if any company can do it, they can but that might not be good for the vanguard fan base.
A friend of mine bought Guitar Hero II this weekend and brought it over Saturday night. We planned to have friends over, grab some beer and play a little Motley Crue. What if the game was buggy and crashed all night? What if it only had two songs and a message saying "Sorry we will add some more songs in a patch in 3 months"?
I so wanted Vanguard to be awesome and I even feel bad that somehow McQuaid blew 30 million dollars and didn't organize his 100 person staff to accomplish what they needed in the five years that was given to them. However, MMORPGs are the only genre of entertainment I can think of where we have the mentality of "Give it a chance to improve, it has lots of potential!". What if 300 had released with blue screens thruout part of the battles? What if the new Kaiser Chiefs CD only had three completed songs? What if God of War II only had the first three levels in it?
I think we sell ourselves short to continue to say that we are OK with a game that releases with:
a) enough bugs to almost be unplayable
b) no hardware optimization
c) unfinished classes
d) unfinished content
e) no end content
f) broken content
I actually was giving them a little slack till I read Kendrick's breakdown on FOH of what they thought they could get in game as late as 2002-2003. At least three other continents, Kojan complete, and two other races and classes. Jeez did anyone have enough forsight to see how bad they were overshooting? You can see they never had a good realistic gameplan to have to scrap all of that plus Aerial and Sea battles and to still release the three continents with broken and missing content. I love the idea of Vanguard, I just wish someone had a real "vision" of how big of a world they can build and realistically fill it up with content and life.
I will say in maybe 3 years when the hardware is available , you will be able to play it with out any hitch. Even with SLi 8800's I still have a hard time believing there would be no hitch, just becuase of the restriction to the L2 cache size pipelining the information , so no matter how much video you have, your threading speeds just aren't able to hand that much negative space.
I don't play games for the future, cause I could die tomorrow.
who me ?
I was lucky enough to realize all of that by playing beta and pre-release weekened, so I canceled VG just before Sony got any money from me Just didn't feel right to pay them money for beta testing it after "release".

The hitching are being adressed in next patch, dont know how much it will do but I would guess alot.
A simple test would be if one recently started up the game and ran a distance preferable a town with NPC. The first time you will have more hitching then the next time, if even it will hitch last time.
And add to that if you literally mean getting rid if hitching, that won't happen. Never. Note that games hitch, from time to another, depending on the situation even the precious.
I dont know if "Far clip" inside setting of Vanguard is something new... But does just the opposit of what you says. Makes 15fps difference for me. And hitching does not solely come from rendering that space that not really are rendered.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Here is the test
Get hammer map editor
Make a cube that is almost to the edge of the grid
hollow the square
add 1 light
then place your character innit
load the map.
5 times out of 10 , the map with absolutely nothing in it will simply crash your computer.

Vantroll reporting for duty. I read your post and all I can say is...
Hahahahahahahahahaha!

Is 'Far clip' impossible, you think I lie when it changes the FPS with 15fps.
You think hitching only occurs in VG and/or that it is not fixable.

Wow, why would you choose a title like that unless you were trolling yourself? Seems like an open inventation for flaming.
Anywho, to stay on topic, they'd have to do a lot, and I do mean a lot, of work to make this game the best regarded MMO out there. Right now, it's near the bottom of the heap, and there's a boat load of new games coming out in the next 8 months or so to compete with. Some of them are already in better shape pre-release than Vanguard is today nearly three months after release.
Every game has potential. Few games achieve it. Will Vanguard? Doubtful, but we'll see.
I've seen this point made before, but your illustrations drive it home, Abraxos. For those who bought VG at launch or early on (like me), we basically purchased a defective product, because it clearly doesn't do what the manufacturer says it does. In the realm of things like cars, refrigerators, stereo components, etc. you would promptly return such a product for a full refund. If Toyota released a new car that died on the side of the road frequently, and if they refused to refund the purchase price, there would definitely be a class action lawsuit by all the purchasers - easily won. But Toyota wouldn't think of releasing such a car due to the extreme competition and damage to their reputation. And if they did release a lemon, they would certainly rush to make amends with their consumers, instead of saying "just bring it in to the garage once a week for the next year and we'll get it working eventually." Why are we so patient with game companies? I mean, $50+ is not a small amount of cash.
If SOE can get VG working well and attract people back, they better do it before Conan or WAR hit, because If the hype is at all indicative, the bulk of MMO players are headed for one or both of those two games (including me, I think.)
btw, no offense to those that like VG. If that's what you like to play, by all means play it.
Shouldn't that say, "If Sigil can get VG working..." ?

I wanted like alot of people to like VSOH, but you cant ignore that it is a defective product. i dont see alot people going back either way you slice it. and if Warhammer and AOC come out, forget about it, those people will be too busy having fun to be bothered with such a broken product.

I prefer to keep the history of the post i this case.
I didnt adress any of the reviewer, saying they are wrong or anything.
Just adressed you saying that the game renders stuff it does not.
And I also talked about the 'maybe' hitchfix in the next patch.
