Well, i am not a bard and i also dont want to "work around" every problem.

Dont think any tweak or uber hardware will kill the problems with grouping. Its obvious that the part of code that handles grouping needs a total rewrite from scratch. It looks like Sigil wanted to save bandwith and outsorced the network connection of groups into sort of p2p connection. This means bandwith on client side is used up a lot more. I didnt tctdump it, but i am almost sure that it is like that. And, since they want to avoid hacking/cheating the TCP traffic is scrambled. So not only bandwith goes up but also CPU usage for every team member that joins.

I am defenetely sure that its not a problem of video card and settings, but a problem of high CPU usage and usage of bandwith. This needs to be changed completely

To show what i mean look at this one. The small square is Vanguard@Tsangs tomb, the second square is a team in EQ2. The picture is a graph of my gateway and shows used bandwith.

anyway, suffice to say it looked MUCH better; and a lot of what I was disliking about the game was lessened. The mountain textures began to look like mountain textures... the lanscape became more alive.
That said, I still found a) The water to be awful (compared with the delightful water in LOTRO, it is striking) and b) Most of the mobs to be bland.
But at least I began to see why some people rave about the scenery.

I was able to do the same. I was able to play well last night on balance settings rather than high performance. Try moving line of sight and animation sliders up too. They don't hit performance hard and it's great to have 9km worth of view distance.

The Sigil dev team said they did some performance enhancing tweaks in the last update...particularly noticeable to folks with mid to low end machines. I believe them since I have seen a big jump in what my rig can do in game since that last update.

Now wouldn't it be nice if you could actually go underwater in LOTRO?

I mean what kind of hero can't swim.....for real.

To be fair you can swim, just not underwater, but also to litteraly answer your question "What kind of hero can't swim?"  well the answer would be Hobbits.  If you knew anything about the lore the majority of Hobbits can not swim and i do believe that the main hero in the lotro series was a hobbit named frodo if i'm not mistaken maybe tolkien just said he was a very short big folk from bree-land instead of the shire.

Probably the kind of hero that has about 100 or so pounds of armor, weapons, and stuff weighing him down.    Seriously though, I'd like to see underwater swimming in LOTRO myself.

My brother made comment on this to me one day about this game.  He has since upgraded his machine from almost as low as you can go and still be within the minimum to one of the best machines on the market.  After doing this, he made the comment that, because he had to have his graphics set so low, a lot of the animation was just not there, on his old machine.  With his new machine he runs at the high end of the graphical setting and is seeing a lot more animation and continuity.  Perhaps this is the problem you are having with non realistic graphics in VSoH

I'm all for this game being improved.  After all, I did spend money on it as well as spending upwards of $600 upgrading my computer to play it.

I did leave due to several factors but would return if and when they improve on different fronts.

Game performance was/is not Vanguards biggest problem... poor gameplay is.  And that simply isn't going to change without a total rewrite.

maybe if they changed the monk class to ninja; then we could just overlook all this game's shortcomings?

everyone wants to be a ninja afterall, right?

but hey, if you anyone thinks the problems with this game lie in the performance and how low you have to have your settings in order for it to not lag AS much; more power to you.  some people also like whacking themselves in the mommy-daddy button with boots.  i don't think i'd like that much either.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?
